The Final Fantasy XIII series thread. Black people sold separately

For a first game I think it’s good. The reason so many people hate 13 is because it wasn’t what they were used to.

They wanted towns, they didn’t get any. They wanted that slow ass fight system, they didn’t get it. They wanted that male lead with hair all over the place, but they got a angry bitch. They wanted that cute ass love story, but they didn’t get it.

So yea as a first game you probably like it to be honest.

Story still whack though. I had to Wikipedia that shit…

That’s it I’m gonna say it, IV blows. Seriously if you actually got to spend time with Cecil while he was a part of the Empire and it didn’t pull so many lame bait and switches with characters dieing it might have been good.

[spoiler=]
Kain constantly switching sides was kind of annoying. That’s my only real gripe.

Just finished my first play through of FF13. It’s a great game, it’s possibly my 2nd favored after 9 right now (or actually becoming #1). Here is my take on 13, at first you kind of feel the disappointment due to the adjustment of the game, at first i hated the battle system and i thought the characters look like bitches but later on (i think at chapter 10), the game picks up and the feel for the game rises fast.

I actually love the battle system now because of how strategic it is, i also began to love the characters (which was something i didn’t feel since FF6) and their story depth. Lightning is probably my favored FF hero of all time right now.

I think FF13 Versus should have been FF14 or something though, FF13 should remain as the only ff13.

Snow was awesome in the beginning of the game. Then he slowly went into bitch mode and I got sick of him.
I generally hated every character in FFXIII though. And FFXIII in general aside from the not sphere grid sphere grid. The battle system would have been perfect if you had to option of switching your leaders IN battle.

I recently finished Final Fantasy XIII, and I enjoyed it, particularly the battle system. I liked having to switch paradigms depending on what it is that you need to do (i.e., building stagger, damage, buffing, de-buffing, tanking, or healing), as well as the faster pace of the combat; both of these aspects made the combat fun and engaging for me, especially during the more difficult encounters. Honestly, I’m willing to say that the battle system in FF XIII is now one of my favorites of the franchise (well, at least out of the FF games that I’ve played, which include VI, VII, Tactics, VIII, IX, X, X-2, and XII).

In regards to the story, I thought that the character development was pretty good. In particular, I liked how each of the characters are flawed (e.g., while Snow is good at inspiring others, he isn’t always able to follow-through with what he preaches–when he doesn’t, he starts to waver).

Anyway, since I enjoyed the combat in XIII, I’m definitely looking forward to FF XIII-2.

you’re not alone. XIII cast was pretty good. and unlike most FF titles, they actually receive decent development and play a part towards the plot. unlike FFX when only 2 people mattered in the overall scheme of things.

I’ve had 2 friends that tried FF13, but because of Hope, they got too disgusted with the game and never finished it. I found myself getting annoyed by hope too but I think him as a character really killed a few possible fans.

I have finished my very first final fantasy game sighs…ahh feels good I must say…looking forward to 13-2

Now go play…well…any of the other ones…they’re all far better.

For all of you who have played FF13, what do you guys have equipped on Lightning post game? I went Edged Carbine ->Omega weapon, but i have no idea on what accessories to equip? Should i leave out HP items, and stick to magic damage (having 2 glyphs), or go for fast ATB (sprint shoes aurora scarf)?

Right now my Lightning is rocking the Lionheart version of the Omega Weapon. It’s good for building stagger, and it’s part of the Gestalt group, so I can add some accessories to give her the Random: Instant Chain effect. She raises the stagger and chain gauge really quickly for me, although the stats on the weapon aren’t really that great, so her actual damage is probably a lot lower than it could be (although I make up for it with the damage from Snow and Fang). Here’s a website that gives a rundown of each character’s weapons.

If you’re doing the missions, I’d suggest Spring Shoes, since they’ll help you 5-star a lot of the missions, although some of the more difficult missions might require you to switch things up. For a lot of the missions, I used Sprint Shoes, Blessed Talismans, and Morale Talismans, so that I started the fights already buffed.

One of the best accessories you can get are the Genji Gloves (you can get three pairs, one from mission 51, 62, and 63). The Genji Gloves allow you to exceed the damage cap, which helps when you’re farming those turtles. Since I’m currently farming those turtles (to earn money), I’m using Genji Gloves, Gaian Ring (to mitigate the damage from the turtles), Kaiser Knuckles (strength), and Collector/Connoisseur Tags on my characters.

Thanks. I’ve heard that Edged Carbine is her best weapon because she is best as a Rav, so i went with that advice earlier on. I currently have Sprint, Aurora Scarf, Power golve and glyph. I have Genji gloves too, but i can’t decide on where to put it.

Is it true that Organyx is slow?

Unfortunately I haven’t tried the Organyx yet, so I don’t know how much slower it is. If you use Lightning mostly as a ravager then it does seem like Edged Carbine would be good for her (due to the high magic on it). I think the only downside for the Edged Carbine is that it has no passive or synthesized ability (at least for the Omega version), and it lowers her damage as a commando (because of its low strength).

Genji Gloves should be on your main damage dealers (typically your commandos, although if you have three, then you can put them on all of your active party).

I can’t believe I still remember this shit off the top of my head, but…

Lighting = If you’re going tier 3 go with Lionheart. If you’re going tier 2 go with Axis Blade since you can get the speed boost.

Anything else, is ass.

As for genji gloves are concern they are situational depending on what monster you are fighting. There no point using that on something that doesn’t get staggered ex: mission 64 , and mission 51.

Items should be situational on what you’re trying to do.

But basically my model was this.

char #1
(Sprint shoes) (remove if you’re using shrouds or whatever the fuck they were called.)
(Genji Gloves) (replace with Magistral Crest/Kaiser Knuckles, Gajin Ring, or Super ribbon depending on situation).
(Crest/Knuckles)
(Crest/Knuckles)

Char #2
Same shit as #1

Char #3
(sprint shoes)
(crest/knuckles)
(Genji Gloves) (replace with Magistral Crest/Kaiser Knuckles, Gajin Ring, or Super ribbon depending on situation).
(Misc.) (Basically gold watch, growth egg, catalogs, Gajin ring, supper ribbon, crest, knuckles…really anything…)

I mean you can keep one build, and run through the game. It’s still easy, but I guess I was just trying to platinum the bitch in the fastest time possible so I kept changing shit up to make shit move faster. (I ended up with 60 hours for platinum.)

I am already at post game, i just beat the titans and i am currently gill farming because i want some darkmatter, my Lionheart is already an Ultimate Weapon, my gladius and axis are already in their 2nd form. I used Edge Carbine for the Omega weapon due to advice over the net about it being her best weapon. I’m currently interested in organyx because it provides a high even of STR and Magic but it is said to be slow (i want this confirmed).

What i have on my lightning right now is

Sprint Shoes, Power glove, Weirdening Glyph, and Aurora Scarf (but i’m thinking of replacing the scarf for Adamant Bangle). I like the power and speed of these items but damn her HP sucks. My hope is a bit higher than her in HP now (he has Diamond Bangles equipped), making lightning the lowest HP of all my characters and i use her on point.

I’m farming the Long Gui and Shaolong turtles right now with Snow on point, and he has the Sacrificial Circle version of Save the Queen, so his HP has taken a major hit (I think it’s the same has Hope’s HP), but he’s still able to survive despite his low HP. If you’re farming the turtles, Gaian Rings will help tremendously to mitigate the damage.

Also, if you’re farming turtles, then I would ditch the Sprint Shoes (they’re helpful mostly for beating certain missions as quickly as possible without buffing), because you’re probably going to be manually buffing your party.

Hp items are absolutely useless imo.

You should never need them for any battle. Just switch to Sen/Sen/Sen before the attacks hit you then switch back to whatever the fuck you were doing.

Arcelonious: Sprint shoes are useful for the turtles to get that opening buff before the sen/sen/sen switch against ultima. Unless you use Shrouds, but like I said that shit isn’t necessary.

I don’t know what exactly the fastest method is in the game, but I remember my times were (w/o shrouds, summon)

Shaolong Gui = 1min 13 seconds (fastest I ever killed it was 59 seconds irrc).
adamantoise/tortise = ~ 2 mins (I think)
Long Gui = 6 mins with summon, 9-10 mins w/o summon. (You can also use the “death trick” to deal 999,999 damage each hit, but this require summon).

Obviously if they use Bay/Roar you can add another 45 seconds - 90 seconds (God I hated that shit).

Also you should never buy Dark Matter, Traps. It would take you 2000 years to platinum the game that way. I ended up getting 35+ dark matter just killing Shaolong, and at least 25+ traps from the turtles. (LOL)

That’s how I ended up testing out all the ultimate weapon, I just saved the game before I upgrade try all of them and see which one I like best then stick with that one.

Also I never used anyone on point besides Lighting/Fang. Lighting worked better against Shaolong, and Fang works better against well pretty much everyone else in the fucking game.

i’m late but save your time.

try ffVI, VII, or IX instead. hell, X too.

Too late…I already bought FF13.
It’ll have to be on my backlog though.
