Hardest fight ever so far is with the adamantoise in chapter 12… oh my freaking god that thing can stomp the shit out of everyone in a matter of seconds.

neochu

Spoiler

You dont have to max out your crystarium all the way to beat Neochu. Boost up Vanille’s magic up to around 2000 at least, get her Death ability. If you want to kill it the best/fastest way possible without worrying about the smaller enemies then you need Death. This is the exact same way in Mission 55…except microchus are already spawned

Use Fang or Snow for Sentinel. Then have Hope act as a healer and synergist.

Sab/Sen/Syn
Sab/Sen/Med
Med/Sen/Med

Those are all you need if you go the instant kill route

Land Vanille’s imperil while Hope buffs the party, switch to #2 for safety, keep spamming death. Use #3 when your hp drops too much. If the spamming takes you too long, reset the battle.

I just did it last night, dead in 33 seconds, it only took me one shot compared to my Japanese playthrough. Just remember higher magic improves your insta-kill, but it does boil down to luck most of the time.

Of course you CAN kill it easily while you’re maxed out, but death spam is the more convenient method if you’re not close to maxed, and that takes a while.

Burn them while the behemoth is still in first form, then if you’re getting smashed, always have a sentinel out to take the big hits - frankly with straight up behemoth fights, if you dont have enough HP you’re just going to get rocked

This YLOD shit is scaring me. Enough to make me stop play ff13? nope. I just finished the chapter 11 boss, so the game is about to begin, apparently.

Well Bart the 1st is seriously pissing me off. I go in pre-buffed with Light/Hope/Vin for triple ravage and triple heal + buff/debuff/commando and i am getting my ass handed to me when he busts out destro. Help?

Man I wish you could change leaders mid battle like in XII. Especially considering that, depending on role, the AI makes some boneheaded decisions.

Take SYNs for example. Hope does not need Bravery and Enfire. Fang does not need Faith. AI SYNs not only wastes ATB on casting useless stuff, but prioritizes them over the stuff you need. Manually controlling SYNs is hard work but better than leaving it to your AI.

RAVs are dumb too. I previously made Sazh very magic-heavy, and the AI would alternate between Flamestike and Fire. Not only were the Flamestrikes doing a fraction of the damage, but it’s actually a lot slower to alternate than to cast consecutive spells or elementstrikes in a row.

AI SABs do a good job since they recognize immunity to specific status ailments.

COM is fine too. Attack, Attack, Attack…

MED is fine, except they sometimes cast Cure and Curasa, when The situation calls for Cura.

I don’t know what to make of SEN. It seems like a waste to manually control when you are inputting actions half as often as every other role. At the same time, you wish you could give the AI the green light to use Vendetta when you have a Medic in the paradigm.

Anyway, I dunno how everyone else dies it, but I always have my SYN and RAV as my leader, just to avoid AI stupidity. Paradigm cancel works best for RAVs too.

have you tried shrouds? plus just worry about attacking him. heal when necessary but attack attack attack.

Agree, Syn got the worst AI. Manually control a Sen doesn’t help too much, some situation it is useful like Sen/med/syn you get to control the use of Challenge and guards to keep the chain bar up.
Rav as lead is fun & effective, Med is the best under manual control imo, AI won’t raise/Esuna until the hp is above a certain threshold, but many situation calls Esuna over heal.

YES! Currently stuck in that fight right now and i cant seem to figure this shit out. 2k dmg pers stomp! and combine that with his fuckin Quake = gg

He is talking about Neochu. You are talking about Ochu. Neochu is MUCH stronger.

I like that fight actually, very intense(unless the player grinded a lot…). Combat Clinic ftw!

adamantoise

[details=Spoiler] I used Fang/Light/Hope in this one. I mainly used Sent/Med/Med for healing and I would switch every fucking second. I attacked with Com/Rav/Rav but mostly Sent/Med/Rav (I know sad) since I could barely get a few hits before being in the red. Basically the whole fight for me was a healing fest with me attempting to switch to Com/Rav/Rav or Com/Rav/Med without dying. I also tried having hope hasting if he can but I have too much trouble so buffing was not in my priority at all. Before the boss staggers you have to try and sneak in a Deprotect and deshell with so you will do shitload of damage. Oh I also used Com/Med/Com since it’s harder to get hit since you’re in the air avoiding all the ground damage.
[/details]

Hope that helps.

Btw I’m disappointed at the equipment system in that game. I barely upgrade stuff. Doesn’t make a difference at all. Everything I have is like level 2 except Light’s sword that is lvl 6 but honestly i don’t feel any impact in fights. I guess they only did this for end game or something.

I just got it and I’m a few hours in, I was wondering, with the combat system does shit turn into a slower version of MvC2? For example can I setup launch and have Lightning do a long air combo and etc.?

I only got it a couple days ago, and Im still confused with the battle system and the summons…I like the look of the game, but the story is a little suckie…But still excited!!!

so i’m at the beginning of chapter 12 and some shit is kinda fuzzy to me…

wtf…

Spoiler

so lightning’s name is claire?

what was the whole point of fighting barthandelus if he’s just going to give you a ship to save cocoon?

yeah

Spoiler

I think he gave you the ship to kill cocoon.

bar

Spoiler

i thought he said to save cocoon before going away?

wtf…

Spoiler

That’s a good question lol. The story is weird in this game. My best guess would be that he likes to … test them? And he doesn’t care if they die because his plan is already in motion? Idk man.

Interesting post I found.

Once you get to post game and get almost full crystariums, commandos will be doing 99999 damage every time an enemy gets around 750% chain bonus BUT Sazh has the amazing Blitz ability that hits for a max of 12 times if your close enough to the enemy or the enemy is big (Like the adamantortoise) and if you have all 6 ATB gauges that means 36 hits so lets do the math

99’999 x 36 = 3’599’964

HOLY****!!! right? that’s like 50% of the HP of the final boss…but of course getting all the 12 hits is hard as hell but most of the time you’ll be getting around 5 hits if the enemy is not EXTREMELY small.

so it’s a good idea to make a party of him along with Vanille and Fang (Sazh being leader so you can spam Blitz) I know, I know (Where the hell is Lightning?) well considering that Sazh gets Cold Blood which has the same effect of lightning’s Army of One he’s just as good as a Ravager as her Lightning has better Strength and Magic stats but then again you won’t be using his strength stat until your able to do 99999 damage so that stat really doesn’t matter, also Sazh has more HP than Lightning and remember that if your leader dies is game over…

Sazh is also the best Synergist in the game (That’s why I changed Hope for Vanille)

Also have you guys seen the stats of Sazh weapons? he gets the best stat improvements given by weapons and also 2 of the best Passive abilities (Stagger maintenance and Chain Bonus Boost)
Stagger maintenance extends the time an enemy is staggered by 10% or 30% with stagger maintenance II and Chain Bonus Boost is a really nice touch to his already high performance as a Ravager.

finally Sazh has the best Eidolon (Summon) of the game since Brynhildr can be buffed by sazh you can exploit the enemies weaknesses and the gestalt gauge fills rather quickly when Sazh is a ravager (Athough change to commando if you stagger the enemy and the bar will fill in no time) in gestalt mode though Vanille’s Hecatoncheir is still more powerful (Due to the minimum cost of his attacks) but Brynhildr is by no means bad in gestalt mode.

Now there are order things concerning here like the genji glove which can be used to surpass the 99999 damage limit (you’ll only get one by completing the hunt mission 63) I recommend you put that to Fang though

By the way with Full crystariums you can replace Vanille with Lightning and finally have a paradigm deck of 3 commandos, 3 ravagers, 3 Sentinels, 3 Synergists, 3 Saboteour and 3 Medics there’s nothing that can stop this party

[spoiler=]Well, not really. When he talks about saving cocoon he wants them to destroy it first so that it can be rebuilt by the maker…[/details]
