boss

[details=Spoiler]
Just keep Dispel the boss’s buffs & use Esuna to clean debuff off your party, keep health high. Its attack is only dangerous if you have debuff on you and/or buff on the boss. [/details]

So picked up the game last week, and I’m a little late with impressions now that I’m about 18 hours in, but here goes.

I do not understand the hate for this game at all. I find it to be much better than FFX, though not as good as FFXII. I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit and not once did the “linear” style of the game bother me at all. If it was linear and boring that would be one thing, but it’s linear nature does not make it boring. Combat is fantastic and a lot of fun once it opens up. I do got to say, people keep talking about how it’s like the best looking game ever made, and while it does look spectacular, I don’t see how it looks much better than games like Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain or God of War III to name recent games. Oh well, still looks great regardless. The story is pretty good so far, and characters like Hope and Vannile which I hated at first are actually growing on me and developing into interesting characters.

Any of you guys think they would ever do DLC? Probably not with all the talk of a FFXIII-2 already. Also, I really need to see gameplay footage of Versus XIII, since it looks like it could end up even better than FFXIII did.

These damn Zirnitras, I’ve fought 3 already and it still looks like there’s another mission where I have to fight one.

I’d buy a chocobo breeding minigame DLC. Oh yes.

Spoiler

THIS GUY HAS OVER 3 MILLION HP!!! How long does it take to even beat him? This fuckers health bar barely moves. At the same time hes dishing out lots of damage in a short amount of time. Every second hes firing dam lasers and debuffing the party. If i throw debuffs on him or buff myself, dude would just reset and dispel everything. Usually ill get him to almost about half health then my party would just die due to overwhelming damage. I feel like this battle is mostly about endurance, just watching the boss’s health wittle down and trying to outlast him…not fun at all imo…

holla!!! fuck dahaka and his weak ass buffs.

that nigga is laying on the fucking ground like a newborn baby.
that pussy is in fetal position looking like road kill on I-95.
lightning should cut off a piece of that bird and fry that shit and feed it to the team.

clown ass bitch!!! 5 stars and two middle fingers. i should take a pic of the tv screen, print it out, iron it on a tee and rock it. in memory of dahaka.

in summary: if your team doesn’t have like two sabs and a medic and you don’t enter the fight with shrouds, you’ll have to grind your ass off to beat bitch ass dahaka.

a real bitch would walk around the damn tower but nooooo lightning, you gotta go up all 343432 tiers running around beating monsters.

now i have to worry about bart dos. argh.

the team has flying motorcycles and mechs from ffVI, dragons and all types of shit and they can’t just fly to the location???
god damn.

Im not sure whether to direct this concern here or on the ps3 thread but since its directly related to ff13 i figure this should be good place to put it. If not i will delete and put in ps3. But this shit is scaring me for sure.

I was browzing other forums about ff13 and threads came up on freezing issues that may lead to damaging the blue ray lazor. Some have reported that they had to claim warranty after playing ff13 over extensive hours. (note the part on the article about “other disks ceases to play properly”)

Has anyone experienced this? Knock on wood, my ps3 is 3 years strong, this concerns me tho.

I was writing up a strat and realized it was for another boss you encounter

Anyway, I think I had Light/Sazh/Van. Get as much of the inner ring crystarium stuff as possible for your default 3 classes for each character. Don’t waste it on the outer arm stuff unless you had leftover CP. You really need haste with Saz. I think you have access to bravery too. Bought those accessories that give you +100 STR and MAG.
Put two STR ones on Sazh, two MAG ones on Van. One STR, one scarf? for ATB on Light. I don’t remember the third accessory for them.

1 - med/syn/sab
2 - med/rav/med
3 - com/com/med or rav
4 - rav/rav/rav
5 - med/rav or com/med
6 - don’t remember

Started with 1, until all the buffs were in place while Van adds a few debuffs. Use 3 for a rep or two, then switch to 4 to stagger. Switch to 5 when you obviously have to heal, back to 3 if gauge is bleeding too fast.

After you stagger, get in as much 3 as you can.

After he shows his face again and removes all buffs/debuffs, do 1 again. Apply buffs/debuffs. I think he does that huge laser attack after he shows his face. Whenever he’s about to do that, switch to your dual med shift. You don’t have to esuna everything.

If you do get hit by daze, hope he follows it up with poison or curse so you can get knocked out of it.

Keep your TP at 5. Cast renew if you can’t switch fast enough to 5 before his nuke goes off.

If you’re lucky and fast enough, he won’t cast doom.

edit - yeah my PS3 was a victim of FF13. I had no problems with my PS3 up until last week. Play FF, after an hour, system would shut off. Tried it again, stopped after 30 mins. Popped in SFIV and played other PSN games with no problems. Tried FF again, died after a few mins and got YLOD.

And here I was thinking about buying FFXIII in a couple weeks…

HOLY SHIT THANKS!

I used your strat and that shit works nice, it took me a couple of tries to get the hang of the setup however i noticed the progress. Eventually i just RAPED HIS ASS.

Once again, thanks.

p.s. fuck this boss

Bart 2

[details=Spoiler]If you’re having issues, focus on having a sentinel going at all times just so you have 2 characters that arent getting spam interrupted by laserbeamz
I went in blind with Light/Hope/Fang, lasers are really frustrating but with a sentinel eating them up they aren’t too bad
Rav/Rav/Com till I need to heal
Med/Syn/Sent to heal/ensuna and buff safely (The buffs get cleansed so whatever i get in the time it takes me to heal is what i roll with)
Com/Rav/Sent to do some safe break building with minor damage in between, slow but steady
Com/Med/Sent to do some safe healing while keeping the break bar going, usually its high enough by this point to do at least moderate damage too
I like to get at least 1 debuff on him as it will make him cast his cleanse ability, which only does ~300 damage to everyone and eats up some time where you can get some extra attacks in without lazerz
Break, throw some sab debuffs, then go balls to the wall doing as much as you can… it was basically an endurance fight for me as you’re not completely op, and 3mil aint no joke[/details]

Yeah man, np. All about the buffs.

The final boss is ricockulous…took me 18 minutes to beat it. Needless to say, got no stars lmao…

Don’t bother using a sentinel for it. it’s useless. I went in with Light/Sazh/Hope with maxed tier 2 weapons…all three of them had all 3 of their main roles maxed, and I still barely scraped through. It actually only took me 2 tries, but i think that I got lucky. It doesn’t matter if you have maxed out everything with godlike weapons, you can still lose to this boss due to the fact that it has…

  • Instant Death capabilities. If it chooses to cast Death on your party leader there’s small, but still annoying chance that it’s game over (had this happen to me when it was almost dead the first time)
    -It’s ridiculous HP.
-Merciliess…Fucking…Judgement. An attack that will always leave you at 1 HP for your whole party. OK, so it can’t kill you, so what? Well, Judgement can’t kil you…but Poison can. And luckily, he has two invulnerable helpers that cast weaken/poison and heal him. These guys have their own ATB bar, so it is possible for them to cast Poison on you, then one second later the boss will cast Judgment. During Judgment, you can’t do do shifts, or do anything for that matter. Judgment leaves you at 1 HP, poison finishes the job. Stupid ass mechanic. Not only that, but Judgment RESETS ITS FUCKING STAGGER BAR. FUCK ME. Judgment can also kill you if you have deshell or deprotect inflicted on you (which the boss loves to cast a lot)

Five star-ing this bitch is gonna take a lot of gil, CP grinding, and hope that it doesn’t use Judgment when you almost staggered it. I like hard bosses, but this boss is about luck, not skill (actually a lot of Chapter 13 is about luck lmao).

it took me 17 minutes to kill chapter 11 boss lol… Chapter 12 opening is insane, but most of the mobs in this place can go suck my dick.

boss

[details=Spoiler]
Try Light/Van/Hope & laugh at the boss, but instant kill leader is stupid design. Hope’s buff cancels out debuff, Vanille’s debuff increase your damage and the sweet poison. 3 MED so you spend very little time in defensive formation (watch for the amount of the chain bar so it won’t get reset when you heal/esuna), so you can go tri-disaster with little downtime. Switch to Tri-MED when Merciless judgment is coming (it says blinding light/consume darkness before MJ), by the time the smoke clears off the screen you will be back at 40-60% hp already. No grinding needed [/details]

Just finished the main storyline. Feeling real good about starting the post game since Snow, Vanille and Sazh have 950,000 CP they are sitting on.

I wouldn’t put a spoiler in the name of the spoiler tag, just saying.

Also, any tips for beating the Behemoth King/Triffid x3 combo that’s blocking my path in chapter 11? Hardest non-boss enemy I’ve ever fought in a FF game.

Is that on the highway? Pretty sure I avoided that fight lol.

No, it’s right after the last mission in the first tier. You fight some flying thing back in a corner and there are behemoths on the left and right, and there’s a path leading to another save point past the one on the left.

Help!

I need help in killing Neochu.

Bitch ass plant is tough.

I haven’t finished the game yet trying to finish the missions first but I guess I need the full Crystarium available for these foes.

Funny, I can 5 star the 3 Tonberries mission no problem but Neochu is tapping it hard.

HELP!!! :shake::sad:

I murdered the big plant thing. Hope was like “lets leave it alone” I was like “fuck that, it is in the WAY”

GET YOUR SHIT.

So I stim packed up with fortisols and aegisols and went in and beat on his little baby plants, then beat on him. Basically just switched between evened odds, relentless assault, mystic tower, and the clinic one. I killed bart 2 by just switching between clinic, diversity, and assault.

Time to do some hunts!
