^^Feel you Ram. I was like you gotta be joking me when that ish went down. I had to play just to see what the deal was. I beat the game and tried to step away like Im good i dont have to do all the missions and stuff. 5 hours later
Rodimus Fam: Yo you ok man whats up
Rodimus: I need to play ff13 man, shit got me hooked…i beat it but real talk Im having withdrawal symptoms…lol.
So yep Im working too hard trying to get all these trophies. Im just pacing myself with it though.
I just entered the thread and clicked that spoiler tag without thinking even though I haven’t played FFXIII in weeks. Why did I do it! I can’t wait until my workload eases up and I can start again, I have to see this.
I’m thinking of booting up the game again. I beat it, but I might want to play a bit more…you know, farm for this and that. I’d mostly be in it just to hear “You’re gonna squirm!” a few thousand more times. Fang is mind-blowing. I didn’t think it was possible for two people from a J-RPG to be this unbelievably sexy, but apparently the Paine lightning has struck twice.
Having trouble with Gigantaur…I’m trying to avoid using Random Stagger, because then it ends up boiling down to luck which isn’t my style of play.
I beat the two Raktavija’s without random stagger, but it was a crazy fight. My plan was to always have a Sentinel upCast imperil on one of them, switch to two Ravagers and a Sentinel and go for the stagger. Once it hits, switch to Saboteur to cast Deprotect (can’t seem to land with this until after they lose their barrier), then switch to an all out team commando/ravager team for the kill.
I also had a ton of Wizard’s Bracelets/Magus Bracelet and Imperial Armlet.
I forget if you can taunt Gigantuar to attack the sentinel. But if you can, go that way.
Another is to use Sazh and just keep casting Fire -> Flameshot. Doing so will move you out of needles range and from there just pound the hell out of him.
finally 1000/1000 on this game and i gotta say, the end game is really weak by FF standards. it really breaks down into: can you own this mob in 20 seconds or only 30!? and if you can only get it in 30, OMG DO IT FASTER. the only fights that have the potential of killing you feel more random than anything to do with skill, and there is just nothing as challenging as the old guard, (weapons from 7, omega from 8, that sphere from 9 etc.) and because of that there wasn’t a similar feeling of accomplishment when i was done 5 starring it.
so all in all, most of the normal playthrough was spent waiting for end game to start, and then once i beat the game it was spent waiting for 1000/1000 so i could do another playthrough -_-;
I finished my second playthrough on Saturday with Platinum and I’m done with FF13.
All finished at 106 hours. I finished the main game and missions at 40 hours, and the rest were just killing turtles for money to upgrade. >_<
More than 50 hours fighting the same enemies for the Treasure Hunter is lame as hell.
I like this game a lot but I don’t think I’ll play this game for a 3rd time seeing as I know I’ll get OCD and try to 100% everything again and sure as fuck don’t want wasting all that time killing turtles again.
So FF13 ends up like FF12 for me. 2 playthroughs and out.
I want a FF13-2 where the party reunites, Fang and Vanille divorce, then reunite with their true soulmates, Fang x Lightning and Sazh x Vanille. :smokin:
Finally started playing Final Fantasy XIII last week and love it so far. I just got to chapter 11, where you can free roam and do all the side quests and stuff.
Question: It says when you start a quest and cancel it or whatever, it will be abandoned. Does that mean it won’t be there at all anymore?
Also, can someone please explain to me what the deal is with weapons and upgrades? I’ve gotten probably 5 or 6 weapons so far with Lightning for example, and they are all WORSE than the original Gladius. I remember in the beginning they said some weapons can be leveled up further than others and whatnot. But how are you supposed to know which ones can be leveled up far? I don’t waste a bunch of parts on one weapons only to find out it goes up to level 5 or something. And is there any method to adding the experience to the weapon? I tried to fool around with it one time but it didn’t make much sense as far as the bonuses are concerned. It didn’t make sense so I just didn’t save it. I still, to this point, Chapter 11, haven’t upgraded anything. Or bought anything from the shop for that matter.
No, it just means you aren’t tied to that quest anymore. You can choose to do it later if you want.
As for the weapons, there are like 6-8 different ones for each character, but each one has different abilities/stats. All of them can be leveled up to 100(using parts) but only change form twice(with a catalyst like a trap).
Let’s say you have a weapon that has an default chain bonus ability and you want to level it up. Here’s the best way to do it.
1:Use items(that aren’t machine parts) to build up the bonus gage up to 300%. Machine parts give you the most exp so save that for when you max out the weapon bonus.
2:Use machine parts to raise the weapon to max level(star level).
3:Use the correct catalyst to change the weapon to the next level. The default ability should raise a level(In this case, turns into Chain Bonus II), and the stats change to allow a higher cap.
4:Repeat steps 1-3
Notes: You can only change form twice. The first time it changes, the level of your special ability will increase(if your weapon has one). The second time you will lose your special ability but you will gain a HUGE stat increase cap.
Special abilities like Quick Stagger or Ledenstrike that are attached to the weapon remain with it, but synthesized abilities that trigger from item combinations disappear.
I skipped all the missions. Theyre not worth doing because the final boss is easy as fuck and I just wanted to get the game over with so i could trade it in for 45 at best buy.
Id give the game a 7/10. The battle system was awesome and everything was real pretty but there was a real lack of character developement or even decent dialogue and the above mentioned weapon system was some bullshit.
