when should i start trying to level up my characters OTHER classes? I am rocking Lightning, Fang, and Sasz right now…so I only have one medic…should I teach Fang Ravager or Medic skills???
Whats a general good strategy once you get to Gran Pulse?
Also, what should I be aiming for, for my party (members, paridigms, etc)?
Does Commando ever get good? I find i dont do fuck all for damage, or raise stagger at all, with commando…aside from anti magic enemies (which are fucking rare)
how/when/where do i get chocobo’s? Do a certain amount of missions, or specific ones, or what?
Well, hitting an enemy with a commmando makes their stagger bar go down slower. The general strategy for staggering is to hit an enemy a few times with commando, then switch to 3 Ravagers to quickly stagger, then back to commandos (or stay with ravagers if enemy has big elemental weaknesses). If you stagger with just ravagers and never hit the enemy with a commando, their stagger bar will decrease pretty fast so you won’t be able to make the most damage out of it.
commando blitz/ruinga is good for hitting multiple enemies at once and making all of them decrease their stagger bar slowly…especially good if you’ve pre-emptive striked a large group of enemies and you want to stagger them all at once and have the stagger stay for a long time.
And of course, depending on the character you’re using(like Snow), their commando normal attacks will do more damage than ravager attacks.
When I first got there, I had trouble killing many things. The first few missions are easy so you should do them. For leveling up, I suggest wolves, those bird gremlin things (they have really high target time for some strange reason, so it is very easy to 5 star them and they don’t have that much health…CP you get from them is good too).
I’d suggest going around the island just collecting all the treasures, though some of them are guarded by enemies you probably won’t be able to beat (two Behemoths, Adamantelid, etc).
Once you get strong enough, you can try leveling up at one spot that contains a Behemoth fighting a large grey wolf. It’s about 6000CP for that fight.

I think it was mission 14…you have to unlock that area by beating another mission (a red Cie’th Stone) that has a barrier in front of it, forgot the mission number exactly.
1)I wouldn’t worry about other classes til post game, because they’re extremely expensive and generally characters suck at their secondary jobs (though some are good, i.e. Sahz learns all sab skills etc.)
In GP, you might wanna start doing some of the early quests, they’ll get you some CP and you start to learn the area. There are a couple fights that you could easily grind CP on like the 4 “penguins” close to the starting area, and eventually you can move onto the behemoth fight that is talked about a lot in this thread.
For the story, anything goes. I’d just level up people’s main jobs, and have a good mix of jobs in your paradigms. It’s all preference, though some like Sahz and Fang are better at commando, Hope and Vanille excel at healing, etc.
I’m surprised to hear this, but yes. Commandos are the shit. definitely the best damage dealers with a good stagger gauge. I run around with com/rav/rav and fang (my com) is always doing insane damage compared to everyone else.
you need to do mission 14. just do them all up and you should be able to unlock mission 14.
I have a question for the Experts…Should I Upgrade my weapons now? Or wait til later when I get better Weapons? Im on Chapter 11…And I got the Particle Accelerators, BUT dont want to use them if I get better weapons later…
The mission that unlocks the barrier is Mission 12. After doing that, the other two are available (13/14). Mission 12 is on the western side of GP, in front of the barrier.
You really only have to finish up to mission 10. I got 12 when the achievement for “all lower level cieth stones completed” was unlocked.
Got a Chocobo not too long ago so its fresh in my mind
Depends on what kind of weapoons you want to develop. Some people probably already have what you might consider their best weapons so you might as well beginning leveling it now (or soon after chapter 11). check this site out and look at the final weapon stats and abilities, then decide which one you want for each character.
EDIT: So I decided to warp back and start farming traps again, but while I was on my way I decided to see if I could 5 star the final boss. Oddly enough I had a harder time this time, but on the final form I killed it in 1 stagger (1:10) and got my 5 star  only 3 more trophies to go
when ur eidolon goes into Gestalt mode (wtf are we, german?), is there a certain strategy to use regarding which attacks to use, or should i just mix it up and finish with the big attack (Y for the 360)?
does using the big attack early make it do more damage, or should i just waste my points until i have no points left, then use the big attack?
Basically you just use up the points to add as much extra damage as possible before the final attack. None of the eidolons attacks are order specific except Fang’s.
the name of Fang’s eidolon
Spoiler
Bahamut goes into flying shithead attack mode. If you manually do then in a not-so-specific order, you could potentially whiff 75% of your attacks. I believe using auto attack solves that issue, as well as knowing the proper order. Which sadly, I do not know.
So all in all, your final attack will do the same damage regardless of how much “points” you use in gestalt mode.
Oh and in case you didn’t know, the higher you fill up your gestalt gauge, your final attack as well as your “points” in gestalt mode are increased.
so… does anyone know how to actually pick up your treasure hunter achievement? i just went through and double checked item by item and i either have now or have had at one point every single accessory and weapon in the game. each character has 1 level 3 and everything else at level 2… but no achievement. kinda frustrated.
for some quick affordable firepower without the need for a trap you should think about upgrading sazh plateus hi-powers to level 2, those maxed at level 2 provide him with 1100 str, makes him a very formidable commando.
Gestalt Super Attack damage is based upon how much you build the Gestalt gauge prior to activating Gestalt Mode. The number of action points on the dial during Gestalt Mode does not affect the Super Attack damage.
Burn dial points until there is one left, then Super Attack for the most damage.
i noticed u can go down to 1 point left, then use any one more ability (even if it costs more than 1 point), then use your super attack with zero points
woot, got treasure hunter and i’m closing in on 5-staring all the hunts. finally got my random instant stagger on gigantuar so i only have like 3 left. gotta 5 star the final one right now though, kinda stumped as to how i should go about it sfrom a paradigm standpoint. i mostly use the extreme paradigms like cerberus (comx3) but since this fuck wont stay staggered that’s not really usefull.
^Which one are you talking about, Attacus or Verx?
With Attacus, even if you can’t stagger him, the % you racked up will let you do big damage against him, so having a Ravager would be helpful. Just increase the Stagger gauge to 200% at least (250%-300% most if you can) to beat him faster.
For Vercingetorex, don’t bother trying to stagger him. All you need to worry about is just keeping Poison on him for the entire fight.
The recommended paradig-em’s for the fight are pretty much what you’re using, extremes. However, instead of having an all Ravager extreme, substitute that for a [com / rav / med] so you can heal while taking damage.
Oh and I also found that after switching to [com / rav / med] after taking damage from Wicked Whirl cuts down on your battle time significantly. (Provided your healer is Hope and that his AI isn’t retarded.)
As for the Attacus fight, just get two DPS and Snow then build your paradig-em’s around Snow being Sentinel. Snow will have his attention the WHOLE TIME while minuscule damage and healing with Mediguard. Leaving you free as a bird to buff, debuff, heal, magic, or physical his ass to kingdom come.
So Im at orphan’s cradle and should i go back to GP and grind? Ive got all of the main 3 jobs maxed to role lvl 4 for everyone. Running Sahz, Fang and Hope and havent had too much trouble, so should i beat it or go back?
