It’s best to take them on when you’ve reached ur maximum stats or crystarium.
Start off the battle with Syn+Syn+Sab and inflict Imperil on one of them.
Then switch to an offensive paradigm while still buffing urself up. (eg Com+Rav+Syn)
Once the IMperiled Raj is Staggered go Com+Rav+Rav on it’s ass. Heal when necessary but try to keep on the offensive.
How does Random: Instant Stagger work? I have it on Lightning with her setup using Ultima Weapon, but I never seem to notice it go off. Does she have to be in COM and physically attacking, or can it work when she is casting in RAV as well? Will it proc when using AoO? (Since that has multiple attacks, is it useful to spam it hoping that one of them procs Instant Stagger? Or is the entire attack-chain considered a single attack for Random: Instant Stagger?)
I just recently beat the game and havn’t gone back yet to max out the Crystarium… but I want to go and 5* all the missions (i think i’ve 5*'d up through the 30s already.) Just want to figure out if its worth keeping the Random: Instant Stagger, or putting her with a Omega Weapon with a little more umph (like the Gladius fully upgraded instead of Lionheart.)
Alright thanks guys appreciate the feedback. I guess when I get home today after my classes I’ll grid it out and just finish maxing my main crystariums at least. I really want those genji gloves lol. Also fuck mission 41 or 42 where you have to fight those three tonberrys, I still think that mission is mad gay. I’m sure my opinions will change when I finally get around to fighting neochu. I lol’d so hard at some of you guys’ comments on that fight
I know I’m late to the party, but… I’m just about 10 hours in, and loving it. Lake Bresha and the Gapra Whitewood are beautiful. I seriously just wanted to run around in circles and look at stuff.
You should.
I mean, you might as well. There’s no returning once you’re past those areas.
Use accessories that beef up your magic defense. Basically some smart play using buffs/debuffs, and switching between com/rav/rav and sent/med/med to get him to stagger. these guys are all magic.
Random: Instant Stagger is just that- Random.
When it happens it happens. Granted I tend to WANT it to occur during some battles but even then I gotta keep on the offensive to attempt a normal stagger to occur.
That doesn’t help me. You mean Random: Instant Stagger means I don’t even have to be attacking? I can be in a med/med/med and all of a sudden get a stagger? I am assuming the person with the trait has to at least ATTACK to get it to proc. So will it proc on magic, or only when im attacking with the weapon (Sparkstrike as rav? or only attack as com?) That’s my question. I know it’s random, i just want to know the specifics of when it CAN proc.
the 3 tonberry fight can be easy too. I just used a deceptisol (or you can sneak up on them) then quaked to stagger all 3 and beat some ass. I think I also used com/com/com.
Yeah after looking at some youtube videos and couple comments on the matter I think I’m just a little underleveled as of right now. I grinded earlier but I think I’ve coasted as far as I can time to just get back to it lol. I really want those damn genji gloves!
I’m pretty sure it procs of any offensive action. I’ve had it proc off a sab x3 and sen x3 paradigms.
Im also 10 hours in and the game just opened up a little bit for me. I couldnt really get into the game for the first 3 or 4 hours despite the graphics...the gameplay was too simple. But i
ve been loving the past couple hours and cant wait to get to the point in the game when it really opens up.
This is my first Final Fantasy game and plan on playing past FF`s now that i see how great the series is.
Keep slow on both at all times (Fang as leader), it cuts their damage output by a huge amount. When you see “multicast”, switch to defensive formation (for example: SEN/MED/MED) and keep HP high at all times.
I got this from a mechanics FAQ about instant chain and quick stagger
Mechanics FAQ
[details=Spoiler]
Quick Stagger
The attack of the character with this skill will stagger an opponent in “near
stagger” status. This makes it possible to stagger opponents who only have
90-92% of their full stagger limit.
Random: Instant Chain
=====================
This gives the character a 0.5% chance of instantly raising the chain bonus
up to the stagger limit with each hit. The actual ability will not stagger
the target but the next attack will send the opponent into stagger status.
This ability will not work on enemies over level 49. This means it will not
work on any bosses (as all bosses are above level 49) and will not work
against some of the more elite marks such as the mark from Mission 51 and
the mark from Mission 64.
The random chance of breaking the opponent is based solely on the number of
times the chain bonus value is calculated. Since Sazh’s [Attack] command does
not have more than one chain bonus calculation this gives him only one chance
per use regardless of the fact that he hits the enemy 2 times with each
[Attack] command.
However, Sazh’s unique skill [Cold Blood] calculates the chain bonus 17 times.
This gives 17 chances for Random: Instant Chain to activate. Even though
[Cold Blood] calculates the chain bonus rate as zero all 17 times if the
enemy is not staggered, it can still activate the skill Random: Instant
Chain. Raising the chain bonus gauge is not a requirement for Random: Instant
Chain, the command used only needs to have a chain bonus calculation step.[/details]
So it looks like anything that causes the game to calculate a chain bonus gives you a chance to instant stagger, but lightning’s quick stagger just needs them to be near stagger. Even though the FAQ writer says he got the info from the Japanese Ultimania guide I’m not sure how accurate it is since I’m pretty sure some of the higher level missions you can quick stagger.
play 4,5,6,7 in that order
I actually just bought 7 cause i keep hearing its the best of the series. Is there a reason to play them in order from 4 - 7 like a linking story or something?
Nope, all FFs have their own storyline in their own universe (with the exception of sequels to some games). There are recurring elements, but FF13 plays a lot different to the older ones. The older games have a somewhat similar battle system, and there are levels. The only reason to play them in order is to see how the series ‘evolved’ over the 2 decades since it debuted.
BTW even though FF7 is said to be the most popular, it doesn’t mean that you might like it as well, just so you know ^_^;
White Wasteland in Ch. 11… The music and scenery here just do it for me…
Got a second pair of sprint shoes off Dahaka :tup:
The Oerba theme is so sad it’s tearful ;.;
BTW what’s the name of the final boss battle themes?
That’s great info. that means things like AoO, Cold Blood, or straight up Blitz from Sasz is extra effective when used with Random: Instant Stagger. This is what I wanted to know about
