What’s an 83 face?
I definitely won’t go nerd rage, but this is definitely towards the bottom of the list for FF’s for me. It’s just so dumbed down.
so… is it possible to revert the steppe back to the lower level tortoises? idk how well i can farm the gui’s till i upgrade my equipment a bit -_-;
if you were JUST following the main story that MIGHT be true, but in most cases the real final fantasy games had multiple areas you could go to that were difficult to get to on foot in a short amount of time and the chocobos allowed you to dodge battles. that’s not how ff13 is built. there is NO map.
who’s fault is it that NPCs ONLY have one thing to say? in this day and age where the ps3 can hold over 50 gigs; that’s just lazy design. the older games did sooo much more with just text and in-game engine cutscenes that it’s simply embarrassing.
final fantasy isn’t supposed to be played like final fight. the main purpose of the series was to give players an emotional/engaging game that THEY could mold into their OWN adventure. The game was always supposed to add to the story in ways that allowed gamers to interact with it. the story and gameplay have been separated and have taken all of the character out of the game’s world. never has there been a ff game so cliched and restricting. the japanese still have these stupid stereotypes of americans that are decades old. i mean listen to the dialogue. it’s atrocious. “mom’s are tough” “heroes do this” “heroes don’t do that” where’s the motivation to save cocoon? do you care for anyone in cocoon?
you guys may not like what i say, but that’s ok. you’ll just have to put me on ignore(like i’ll really notice lol), cover you ears and pretend ff13 is perfect(flowers and pecan twirls). it’s obviously not even up to rpg standards. it was made for fps fans and peolpe with short attention spans. it might be fun(sometimes), but it’s not final fantasy. give it a different name and i wouldn’t care, but calling this trojan horse final fantasy is a crime.
Finally made it to Gran Pulse but I’m probably gonna go on and come back around post-game. I could see myself kill hours in here.
Best moment was trying to fight those HUGE elephant type things.
First move of the fight: Takes a step, whole party is KO’d.
actually, I’ll just click a button and ban you. You feel free to hate on ff13 but if the only reason you’re posting here is to shit on it and not add to our discussion then I’m going to ban you. Simple as that. It’s your choice.

I’m all out of witty ideas to retort with. LOLOLOLOL
GET IT? RETORT? I’M CYAN AND I HAVE QUADRA SLICE AND ILLUMINA.
I’ve played all FF’s, each and all were new and different experiences, Some were absolutely enjoyable, some were so-so. You’re just a mindless guy who’s probably never played it and let reviews and comments about the game dictate how you will experience it firsthand.
The key to enjoying is to just be open-minded about games like this that have multiple “parts” or “continuations” because to put it simply, if Square stuck with the same formula with every FF, everyone would most likely get tired of it by VII, maybe IX.
Have you even read this thread? I don’t think anyone in here has called the game perfect, in fact I’m sure there have been a couple lists of people’s beefs with the game in the last few pages. No one is claiming the game is perfect, only that it is fun.
And the non-rpg thing is dumb, you know there are many people who wouldn’t even call Final Fantasy an RPG at all? because you technically don’t take on a role, you’re prescribed one by the game. What FF game has really “let you mold your own adventure” (aside from FF11)? it’s always A->B->C etc. with a couple possible tangents here and there, but it still isn’t “your” adventure, it’s Cloud’s or Terra’s or Cecil’s adventure. No matter how you play it, the game always has the same outcome. but whatever, don’t even respond because it’s dumb and I really don’t wanna extend your stay in this thread.
Anyhow, on topic. I’m still in Chapter 12 farming traps, I’m thinking of moving on to finish the game and just farm post-game. Though I did waste like 850,000 CP because I didn’t want to hit the cap and let it go to waste. So maybe I should stick around and farm a little.
UGH!!!
I wish I wasn’t Asian with decent math skills. I calculated the CP required for the three sub-roles in the crystarium for the LAST LEG ONLY…
… you will need between 1.02m-1.14m CP (x3 and not including the lower level stuff either) to max out that last “circle” of each sub role.
Yeah I would think it was something nuts like that. witht he 800l I waste most characters didn’t even come close to level 9 of the crystarium on 1 of the secondary roles. shit is insanely expensive
CP limit is 999,999. I spent 4 or so hours finding that out today, grinding like a mofo at grand pulse. Even with that amount spent, there are still atleast 20+ active nodes in the crystarium (pre-chapter 13) available for all my characters.
I heard the final level of crystarium requires 750,000 ish cp. And that’s only for the primary roles…
Just when you think you’ve seen plenty in the final chapter. LOL 3x Sanctum Templars.
Spamming relentless assault and combat medic paradigms like a madman.
I haven’t seen it anywhere in the FF thread or in this one so here it s.
FF13 Chapter Zero. The online mini novel that Square released prior to the game and it is canon. The following place has it translated.
http://dilly-shilly.blogspot.com/
This should clear some doubts about how the story works. The story sequence goes like this.
Chapter zero > In game analects > In game Datalog > The ending.
Only thing about the analects is that to unlock them you need to do the Pulse missions. But they do explain the mythology quite well.
Hopefully that helps clear some confusion about FF13 story.
Edenhall is a good place to farm Gil; having 3 Collector’s Code on your characters can increase the chances of getting perfumes from the Sacrifices. Played for like 2 hours and managed to make around 200k Gil
Gimme that power plz, I’ll clean house in the Battlefield thread. It’s a stupid flame war about PC vs Console… Anyway, if I was having a hard time with mission 4 but beat 5 easily am I ready to go on to the next couple missions??
I finally had time to beat the game today.
Impressions
Spoiler
Bittersweet but I suppose that’s kind of a reoccurring Final Fantasy thing.
chapter13/nerd-range
[details=Spoiler]
Chapter 13 (orphan area) is bullshit. The normal fights are like mini bosses. And the bosses are like super bosses. And bart…this guy has 5 million hp.
I spent 4 hours grinding today and it feels like a complete and utter pointless waste of time: Every freaking enemy has at least half a million hp [some have like 2 mill], resistant to every god-damn spell AND normal attacks so it takes you 3 minutes to finish, they attack in groups of 3 to 5(!) and then a the end of it you only get something like 6000 cp? I can beat the behemot/wolf back on grand puls is 15 seconds flat and get more…God damn!
I hate this chapter so much. Seriously, this chapter alone has singled handedly ruined this game for me. I was enjoying the game for the most part up (You know all the other stuff everyone has complained about…I actually didn’t mind [though I’ll get to a proper review on this when I finish it]) but this orphan area…just has pissed me right off. I got 3 stars on each mini boss and I don’t know how I could possibly have beat them any faster —> I’m on max crystarium for all 3 main roles and almost max on the last 3! [/details]
Anyone have a list of the rewards for all Pulse missions when you do them the first time, and after the first time (since the prizes aren’t the same after). Noticed that the Tonberry mission gave out like 8 Bomb Cores if you beat it again, which is pretty good.
this link has maps for all the cieth stones, and even shows where the marks are, give an example video for 5 star. And it lists the normal and secondary rewards
