The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

I am addicted to games like Final Fantasy Tactics. Can anyone recommend any other games like it? I’ve played the following:
Disgaea series
Ogre Battle
FFT-A
Vandal Hearts

Jeanne d’ Arc
Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre
Disgaea/Makai Kingdom/Phantom Brave
Fire Emblem
Bahamut Lagoon
Front Mission

The game that matches with FFT quite well IMO is Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. The game company Quest is technically responsible for making both games.

You should really play the original NES versions of I and II, particularly I. The DoS version is so unbelievably easy that I almost don’t want to say I beat FF1 because of it. However, I will say that Shinryuu and Omega in the optional dungeon CAN present some difficulty depending on your team. Other then that…

I played, and beat the original plenty times over. And yea, shit was hard, especially considering how much of a fucking RPG noob I was back then, when I first played it.

X-2 was hot garbage, you bash IX but play that shit?

I liked both games, from what little I played of them. Hell, I havent finished too many FF’s to begin with, to be honest. I still need to really sit down, and play 2-6, 9, 10, and 12. Either just begin, or halfway through most of them. lulz

The gfx in FF2jp and FF3jp had really bad gfx and werent that fun, old school FFs id stick to FFV and FFVI

FFVIII is my favorite FF of all time, but it could be because it was the first FF I ever played and the first RPG I ever played, for that matter. The card game was awesome and actually meaningful. I was really disappointed in FFIXs card game after VIII. My brother collected all 100 cards and… nothing. As far as best characters, Irvine is sick but honestly, Quistis is up there. You can NOT fuck with her Limit Breaks. Bad Breath, Maelstrom, and of course, Degenerator.

I remember being frustrated as fuck in ff1 when I went through the area with zombies and they would hit my team and put them to sleep and I was helpless. I just had to sit there and watch them pummel my team to death.

and in ff2 I used that glitch too much, I was way strong but got to a point where I couldn’t one shot bosses and because I was destroying enemies with ease before that my HP and defenses never leveled so the bosses would destroy me. I should go back and finish that game.

FF6 was good but with out FF7 Square would have died in the U.S. The U.S. saved Square with that one game. Even so Enix still bought out Square.

Well, because my friend Swiper Swiped my PSX FFVII, I’m getting the Ultima Edition PC version (until that fucker gives my shit back. Nigga lives in Chicago).

In the meantime, I’ma play VI Advance, and Dirge of Cerberus (hate me, I love this game).

Eventually, I wanna get Crisis Core. Man that game looks sweet. Famitsu even gave it a hella positive review, (for the review nuts). 9,9,9 8.

On hold - The GBA remakes of I and II.
III, IV, and V.
Tactics, and Tactics Advance.

Also, I need more info on Fabula Nova Crystallis, dammit. Hopefully, Square delivers at TGS.

From 31st August to 2nd September, Square-Enix will be hosting the “Final Fantasy VII 10th Anniversary Gallery” event at Spiral Garden in Minamiaoyama, Tokyo, to commemorate the game. The exhibit will be open from 11am to 8pm, and admittance is free.

On 30th August, prior to the exhibit opening, they held a reception party for the press, detailing the exhibit. In addition to the original FFVII it also features some materials from the world-wide smash hit “Advent Children” and other titles in the “Compilation of FFVII” series.

Towards the end of the party, music began to play in the auditorium as smoke covered the stage. Several mintues after the attendee’s attention turned to the stage, Ayaka walks out and preforms the theme song for Crisis Core, “Why”.

This is followed up by a simple interview, in which she states that this song was one she created when she was 16, and at the time she finished it didn’t have a very deep impression of the track. But now after seeing it together with images from Crisis Core she was impressed by how well they fitted together.

She went on say that while she normally doesns’t play video games very much, she did know about FFVII through some video, and admired how the video and music matched so well. And when she was selected to sing the theme song, she was happy that it was going to be her music going with the videos this time.

Incidently, Ayaka was born on 18th December 1987, the release date of the very first Final Fantasy. Perhaps this was fate?

At they party they also served special cocktails made using the FFVII Potions. There were two varieties for the attendees to try: passion fruit flavoured “One-Winged Angel” and a green apple “Lifestream” cocktail.
