The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

I searched and couldn’t find the old thread so I’m guessing it’s gone.

I’m taking on my second play through of Final Fantasy XII now, just got past Barheim Pasage. I’m taking it a lot more extreme this time around, taking more time to grind EXP, LP and loot. I already had a pretty decent save file, level 71’s to show, but after dropping the game when I completed it, I found all the abilities I had a bit over whelming and felt I couldn’t enjoy experimenting with the Gambit system on a deeper level properly… So I opted to go through the game again… With my past experience I should be able to abuse it a lot better.

One thing I’m finding difficult is working Steal into my Gambits. I’m a right theif in that game, it has to be done, but I’m a bit bored of stealing from everything manually. I found that the enemies have a tendency to give you two items when using steal, as opposed to the common one from killing. I realised this as I noticed stealing off enemies untill it said “such and such has nothing to steal,” but would still get a drop off the kill. It’s worth it sometimes though as for me, that loss of one hit isn’t so dramatic when doing simple grinding.

I guess my main focus this time around is experimenting with the Gambits more, as opposed to simply over leveling my characters. I already have a few Technicks ideas that I didn’t think of last time around. Infuse + Steel Gourget + DPS + Pheonix Down x n = sounds like a win to me…

Any ideas you think would be good to mess around with?

Use this thread to talk about the Final Fantasy series…

FF4 is hard.

FF6 is ez.

FFX is meh…

anybody got the tactics on psp? i heard it was 2players…

Wow I was looking for FF games on PSP today aswell but found nothing… I kept looking at FFIII on the DS and kept realising how not having one sucked. I had a quick go on it and actually found it quite fun. It was the first old school game I’ve played since FFXII so the old battle style was quite wierd, but I actually enjoyed it. Plus it’s great for nostalgia as I can go through the story but in a more acceptable manner. I couldn’t put up with the NES games, it was too much. Also Revenant Wings looks interesting aswell so I’ll deffinately be looking into a DS…

I agree.

i didn’t like IV…i thought it was boring and i hated switching characters every 5 min…but i didn’t find it hard.

So… let me know if you guys need help with anything. This is my compulsory post in this thread.

OP, if I remember correctly, my Steal gambits were:

Steal, Party Leader’s Target.

I would then turn them on after I have Vaan target something. And there are many good things to be had from stealing. Most notable is probably Deathbringer, which you can steal from Ithuno.

As for little tricks, try Nihopalaoa + Remedy on your target. If you have all the Remedy Lores, it will inflict your target with every status ailment to which it isn’t immune.

It wasn’t the strongest game though, you have to admit. The engine was actually pretty interesting with the turn based system, but the game just didn’t have much veriety to it. From my experiences you fight the same enemies throughout the game except the only difference is they’re a different element and colour. Also I found the game to be too fairy-ish and pansy-ish, how Tidus just plods along and talks to irritating and emotionless characters. I found my self not wanting to engage with the game, as opposed to drawing my self in. I believe I have played through the game about five times and on each occasion I’ve never completed it once. I have faith when I say I will never play that game again, trying X-2 will probably never happen either.

^Will do… Yeah, Stealing is awesome, even though I’m at the begining the game, I’ve already stole a Broadsword and a Pointy hat, which at the time were a right score, so it’s all good…

I want to replay FFVII because I think its the best. Runs away

I am waiting on a second run of FF XII as the international edition seems like it will make it a whole new game. I’ve heard august for that, so that’s not so long.

My steal setup (not for boss battles, I did a lot myself in them) was to have the leader steal from anything that had 100% health and then I had another character who was physically knocking down the target of the leader. The idea was to have one steal attempt on each monster before it was hit and was off the list. Any more steals I would do manually.

Oh and FF7 is one of my favorites to replay. It is so actiony and the story is so minimal that I will enjoy doing a run and just goofing off, killing stuff and snow boarding. Not an engrossing experience, but a mindless fun one for me.

its about time they rerelease the ps ff’s IMO. they don’t even have to remake them…just throw some extra content in there and release them on the psp, if anything.

I fucking love, Dash. I really do. The Sphere-Grid system was a bunch of crap, really. There was no real customization because you were already following a pre-destined path on the board. Comparing it to the License Board, the License Board allowed for more customization because you could use points on whichever section of the board you wanted to start out with.

And yeah, the story was shit. Blitz Ball was the only saving grace, IMO.

That extra content would cost a shitload of memory on a UMD. There’s only 1.6GB on a UMD, so yeah. Do the math.

I need to work on collecting all tetra-master cards in 9.

Who has done this shit? Seriously?

I have, but you probably could have guessed that.

Why doesn’t square release the international editions of there games outside of japan?

Because, IIRC, our versions are the International versions. I think. Not too sure.

Nah I had no idea ^_~

I know some rare ones come from the chocographs, but where else can I find rare cards? Those things in the Tower hold lengendary ones, but I can’t seem to beat them…

Not true, with the exception of VII.
