Whoah, paladin Cecil looks completely different in the CG vs realtime.
A fried of mine is giving me an original copy of FFVII for 10 bucks. You can start hating me now.
How’s Dirge of Cerberus? Is it worth playing if I go in without high expectations?

I don’t know, it seems like a crap version of SotN (RPG hybrid), only instead it’s a shooter. Personally I don’t think it looks very good unless you’re a FFVII junkie itching for some plot.
Oh god no.
It’s a very bad game. You run around and shoot that is it.
Don’t play it.
I see.
If nothing else, the Dirge of Cerberus soundtrack is done by Masashi Hamauzu, and that guy is sex. I’ve had the soundtrack for ages now, and am every bit in love with it. A Proposal is such a great song.
So in VII did Hojo want to mate Aeris with Red XIII? Because they talked about how they wanted to breed the Cetra, and that how both of them were rare species. I was a bit puzzled by it when playing it but the game is full of suggestion.
On an unrelated note, there’s so many points where you could twist the plot to anything and it will actually work. Like for example, Tseng on the Sector 7 tower said that the bomb was set to go off the moment some dumb idiot touches it and only second before Tifa was standing there mashing the buttons. So in an essence it could have been Tifa that crushed Sector 7 with her own stupidity.
I think that was just a bit of humor on his part. They’re genetically incompatible, so any potential offspring arising from genetic manipulations wouldn’t be Cetra.
I’ve only beaten FF 1, 6, 7, 8, 10, and Tactics. Of course, I love the music from all of those (except maybe 10? I don’t remember a lot of the music from it so it must not have been too spectacular).
Are the soundtracks to the other FF’s good? I was thinking about, um, “acquiring” all the FF soundtracks but figured why would I bother if I know I only like the music from some of them. :bgrin:
So I just got FFT: War of the Lions as an early Christmas present. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll ever touch this game.
Anyone playing through Crisis Core? I was wondering what the first blue materia you get from the shop is…
You fail.
FFIV DS came out a couple days ago in Japan :o
i love it when people tell me the remake of ff1 is hard (lol). try doing it without sp/mp and a maximum cast of 9 spells per level (just for starters).
Personally I found Tactics to not be all that user friendly, the directions were confusing at times, the battles were full of menus and it took too long for me to start enjoying it. While I wont get too in to this, I found Disgaea to be more user friendly and I enjoyed it a lot more than Tactics. You could set up and use your characters as you pleased and it was very forgiving with back tracking on your steps. This is were Tactics failed for me I think because I had previousy played Disgaea, and it was a lot more strict in what you could do. Undoubtably Tactics is a great game, but I guess the two of them are like Marmite, you either love them or you hate them.
which remake? The one I played on the GBA (Dawn of Souls) was so unbelievably easy that I’m not even going to say I beat FF1. The original NES version is the hard one :\
lol, I realized I said just this a couple pages back. That was a little while ago though.
ugh. Tactics really isn’t that hard to play at first. I started a new game right off the bat, no tutorial, no reading the manual, and I got it down in 10 minutes. It was also my first tactical RPG game too. Disgaea IS a lot better at explaining battle though, and it is pretty flexible.
Whats worse though, is people complaining about not knowing how to play FF8 because of the Junction/Draw system. It’s hilarious, because the game forces you into a tutorial about it.
the game i’m referring to is the remake of 1. someone actually said it was hard, but to be fair they never played the original. i just laughed and told them they have no idea how much easier it is than the nes cart.
hmm Chaos is much tougher in FF1 on PSP than on NES
FFIV… i’m getting near the end of the game (final dungeon). There is a lot more to the game then I had thought, even without adding bonus dungeons, they added a few abilities, you can get abilities from characters who are no longer in the party, and beating the game more than once unlocks more bosses to fight. Also the game is much tougher, and even though grinding out a few extra levels help, the boss fights focus even more on having a solid strategy, so expect to boss fights that you can complete with ease on the SNES and GBA versions of the game. Also don’t be suprised if you die from random encounters if you’re not paying close attention to what is going on. Also they added an autobattle system which helps a lot, and can keep you from having to go through menus again and again.
i haven’t played the psp version, but unless you don’t have mp/sp, i don’t see it being an issue. the hardest part was getting through dungeons w/out dieing (9 max casts/lvl & 99 herbs is all you got).
The game was rebalanced to make up for the change to an MP system, and I thought it was a bit harder than the GBA version. But overall neither game is hard, especially if you just stick with the melee classes + red mage.
FFIV on the other hand… it is hard. I’m really enjoying it. It is their best job so far out of all the remakes, even though there aren’t any additional dungeons as far as I know.
There was no tutorial for the gamebreakers, the Refine skills though. And Card Mod. Gotta love Card Mod.
