I have no idea what this refers to.
Wow.
So you got all the good shit in one go, eh? :clapdos:
FF8 was tedious in the beginning of the game 'cause you are mostly weak and most rely a little more with the annoying GFs in battle. No need to say that after watching the unskippable animations, it gets old QUICKLY. Luckily this is just at the beginning of the game, later on there was almost no need for GFs at all. It was more optional.
As for drawing magic, there really is no need. There is Card Mod and the Upgrade skills from low to mid and from mid to high among others.
Mugging foes for rare items was a major pain in the ass in this game. The materials for weapons and for Blue Magic were beyond annoying. Another bad thing is like someone mentioned, since magic is used to pump up stats, the system discourages using it as melee is way better in every way, sans Vitality 0 needs.
FF10 is ultra tedious. Why? Ever try maxing out the Sphere Grid? And by maxing out, I mean going every path like 3 times, clearing the useless nods to add better ones, fill every nod possible and max out every stat including Luck to the max (almost every stat caps at 255) .
If you say yes and say it wasn’t tedious at all, you’re plain lying. Have fun killing Jumbo Flan, Earth Eater, Greater Sphere and Ironclad for hours on end, along with Kottos for replenishing spheres. So much fun!!! :lame:
Still have no idea what you’re referring too actually.
Adding to the why FF10 is more tedious than FF8, here it is:
FF10 sidequests were beyond ridiculous.
Lightning dodging-Self explanatory.
Chocobo Catcher-Gotta love those birds.
Butterfly Catching-Trial and error till you memorize the positions.
Cactuar Village
Pokemon Hunting-Gotta catch them all. Come here, goddamn Varuda and Tonberry. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! :chainsaw:
Blitzball AKA Tediousball for the Sigil.
And Monster Arena Grinding for Sphere Grid filling.
FF8 PALES compared to this insanity.
Yes, rare items are annoying but an hour with Quistis in Island Closest to Hell with Degenerator and everyone is at level 100.
IMO, the biggest downfall of FF8 was the broken limits. They just plain break the game. Zell + Squall in the yellow > everything.
Maxing stats is always tedious. As far as FFX, I’d say 2 grids would count as “level 100”.
As for 12, only completists could really hate it’s difficulty. Not everyone was meant to find the Z-Spear, or build up a 999-combo before fighting OmegaMk.XII.
Well, shut me the hell up. That stuff was fucking tedious.
Triple Triad/Tetra Master were the best minigames in the series (hell, some of the best in rpg history imo).
Have you played FFXII?
Yeah, I don’t know what you’re talking about either.
in ff12 you leave a room and then come back hoping the monster you want to farm is there, coupled with the fact that they don’t always drop the wanted item…that shit can get maddening.
The Great Crystal?
I remember grinding out with those metal bird things for money. It was terrible. After the 30k I got from doing it once, I decided to never do it again.
This…
…and the simple fact that the chests which hold the best items do not always show up - having a % chance of randomly appearing. Couple this with the fact that just because said chest with, say, 25% chance of appearing, does, in fact, appear, this by no means guarantees you the good item in question, due to the fact that said chest’s contents have only a certain % chance of being what you were looking for.
And these %s are fixed whenever you load a map.
Ergo load, reload, ad nauseum, until prolongated profanity ensues.
Yeah, so I never did find that Lv. 99 Red Chocobo.
The Great Crystal, that was the first time in years that I got a pen and paper and drew some ghetto ass map, that was a ridiculous dungeon.
Yeah whenever i’ve played FFX, I never attempted to fully max out the Sphere grid. For the most part i’ve always gotten everyone to the end of there respective grids and then ventured to other peoples grids. I’d had have Lulu and Yuna switch up on each others grid and i have tidus and Wakka on Auron’s Grid, with Kimahri and Rikku on each others grid.
I only messed around with some sidequests plus the only ultimate weapons i’ve gotten in succession and obtained both sigils has been Yuna, Auron, Tidus, and Rikku.
The Great Crystal:crybaby: shiiiiiiiiiiittttttttt, that was a crazy ass dungeon, then to top it off with that underwhelming ass battle with ultima…:lame:
Henne mines was much worse though, you get through that bitch which isn’t exactly easy, to fight Zodiark that cast Darkja ASAP, instakilling your whole team sometimes. after that 30 or so minute trek through the dungeon to him, I expected a save point or something. nope, you will your fucked.:woot:
I almost maxed the grid on X, I think I had like one coli boss to kill to.
LOL!
Same here. The only time I remember being so lost in a game was back when playing those maze levels in NES Golgo 13.
At least the music made it somewhat enjoyable!!!
The first time I went through that dungeon, I had no idea Ultima was going to be there. So yeah, pretty overwhelming for me on that playthrough.
And despite all the bad things about the game design, the single worst part was the circle jerk that the story quickly devolved into, at its “resolution”.
hope you saved, but yeah that battle was pretty good. I was expecting just the end all be all badassery type shit after that journey through that place. What I got was a pretty good fight, I was expecting Ozma lol.
What made you compelled to fight against the horrid percentages in the first place?
Just play the game normally. If you find some cool shit, cool.
