No they have Random and Elemental, I’m the one that is bringing in Open from Balamb (if I don’t bring in any rule, then I can’t seem to make them mix rules). Or is there some way to make it so that spreading the rule you bring in is never going to happen because it always happens to me.
You know, there ARE FAQs at GameFAQs about Triple Triad.
You can stop bringing in rules from previous regions. For example, you played in the Lunar Base to get the Alexander and Laguna cards. They have every rule except Open in play (I hate Plus so much). Now, if you were to go to some other region where they don’t have much rules after you’ve left the Lunar Base, you can bet your bottom dollar that most of those rules you played in the Lunar Base will be there as well. You can bypass all that by playing this one guy in Balamb who’s at the docks. It’s the first screen you come to after you pass the hotel. He’ll be dressed in red, I think, and will be on the upper left part of the screen. If you don’t see him, leave Balamb, then come back in and he should be there. If not, repeat. It shouldn’t take too long. But if you see him, challenge him to a game. No rules will be in effect, no Open, Same, Plus, Random, Elemental…he’ll get rid of every rule from the previous region you played, so that when you go to the next region to score your next card, you’ll only be playing that region’s rules and you won’t carry over any rules. But play him after leaving each region, so the rules from that region won’t spread to another.
Amen! This is the major criteria for me involving RPG’s, emotion and being engaged, and it’s subjective what draws people in. For me, I loved the way FFVIII looked, most characters designs were fine IMO, but I definitely couldn’t get past FFVIII’s dialog. Selphie was…The same for X, for me.
Although VI is an easier game in the American release, I got all the characters (even Relm) up to lvl 99 at least four times while waiting for FFVII to come (I don’t have that much time now). The story line was exquisite IMO, despite some things I could do w/o (Ultros…). I have dreamed of that game’s release in a new dramatic game engine and graphics, no disrespect to the 32bit. Many of my friends who are not gamers still play that one and hope a suped up rerelease is on the horizon. I won’t hold my breath.
wasnt chrono trigger called Final Fantasy: Chrono Trigger in japan?, im waiting for that to be remade
i loved 8 till i replayed it and realised its full of pointless convo’s, i couldnt take it, i cant turn it back on
made me realise how good 7 is, its like michael angelo’s version of tetris. fun and as deep as you want it to be.
8 suffered the same linearity as most RPG’s, EXTREMELY good games but there isnt much flexibility, apart from rinoa being ultimecia.
come on seriously who else is she? :wtf:
No, Chrono Trigger was never related to Final Fantasy.
Calculators, most definitely. Horrible speed, no actual job abilities (If you want to do CT5 Holy stuff, that’s not going to be possible using only Calc skills since Holy is a Priest command, after all), and no weapons until halfway through chapter two. They have to lean heavily on guests up until then and your plan against basically any enemy is Damage Split w/ prayer assist. I can’t imagine how they can beat Golgorand (aka 7 generics+Gafgarion vs 5 split up calcs), let alone some of the more ridiculous battles later in the game.
Soloing isn’t so bad, really. When you’re at the lower levels it is near impossible, but at 75 any job can solo pretty reliably as long as they sub Ninja. But one of the things that stood out for FFXI for me was that it did reward better players since the game wasn’t based so much on items as skill. If an alliance of 18 could take something down, a good party of six probably could. And if six can, a thief or ninja + bard or redmage probably can. And if bind or gravity works on it… a redmage can solo anything, given enough time.
I still miss playing once in a while, but in the end I’m glad I’ve rid myself of that addiction. Fuck MMOs
I hear Blue Mages are broken.
Not really. Theyre pretty good though, they have a wide-array of abilities. Its all about the WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR, or even anything/NIN at endgame.
And FFXI = worst game ever? Riiiiiiiight…
Ill admit, its definatly not for everyone, and not even close to my favourite FF, but when you get involved with a good linkshell you can just shoot the shit if you want, and there are tons of things to do other than to just party/exping. Plus theyre always adding/changing things often, so theres always something new to experience.
Hardly broken. They’re very effective in the lower level, but at endgame they’re just another random damage dealer, for the most part. With enough support they can tank some stuff, but so can pretty much every other job. They can solo moderately well, but have some downtime due to mp. I hated them in parties because I was in a static PT of NIN (me!), THF, WAR, BLU, BLU, BRD. Bad enough we had five people meleeing the mob, but BLU spells are notorious for giving mobs TP, so they’d basically spam weaponskills at me constantly while I was tanking (I’m looking at you Catoplebas and Imps!)
Edit: Yeah, if anything is broken it’s a WAR with Ridill.
FFXII is the reason why I’m in summer school right now…
that game is crack boy. its the reason why i dont talk to my pops.
Too true. I spent 159 hours and change on this fucking game.
I was quite the hermit playing this game.
Lol everybody has a hermit story with this game.

I had to force myself to put FF12 down once I beat it… otherwise I’d never leave the gd house
And now I’m thinking about throwing it back on again, thx alot SRK! D:
See, that was a major problem I had with FFXI. The only way to get by and have an easy time with the game is if you chose certain jobs like NIN or RDM. It was like the game was so intentionally hard that if you did not play the way SE wanted you too, you would be fucked. What if someone wanted to play as a THF/RDM or THF/WHM or THF/ anything besides NIN or RNG? People would laugh at them and the game would be much more difficult than enjoyable, imo. People like to play MMO’s and RPG’s to be able to make whatever character they want and to be able to enjoy the game. I hate the fact that in order to survive and solo, no matter what character you want to make, you have to or should lvl NIN to 37. That’s garbage, imo.
Sorry for the rant, I just felt like FFXI and SE made the game to TELL you how to enjoy it, instead of everyone being able to enjoy it equally, however they want.
Still playing FFVIII. Got Doomtrain and now Im trying to chase the Queen of Cards around to get ever card. Not fun.
^^ Yeah, alot of MMO’s are like that, sadly. Eventually, some classes just fall by the wayside… hell, some never get on the road to begin with =/
Actually, the FFXI job combos were the result of player pressuring. The Japanese players set the precedence, the first high-level American players followed, and that was that.
Btw, I don’t know jack shit about XI anymore, and almost all of my info comes from when I was a high level SAM/WAR like 3 years ago or from what I ask my friends on the XI team whenever I see them (like a few times per year), so I know nothing. Did they beat Dark Rider yet? Or that one instanced dungeon that strips you of everything when you go in? Hell, has anyone even created all of the Dynamis weapons yet?
I had no idea SRKers had so much hate for XI.
Barely managed to play this game because of work and my older brother hogging the system before Halo 3 beta went kaputs. Anything worthwhile in Bastok?
DR is unbeatable, but its almost certain that Odin is gonna be a new avatar in the next big update.
