To understand that is to understand the dark side of human nature. And here cometh the neg bomb.
Hey, system wars, gtfo of this thread.
Queen of Cards? I got them all and I think it was a bit easier before disc 4 since you could get all of the rare cards from different players (most of whom only had one good card and were thus easy to beat). The only gripe that I had was getting rid of those crazy rules like RANDOM, PLUS, etc… I literally visited that guy in Fisherman’s Horizon (Head of Galbadia Garden) over a 100 times trying to get his rare’s using favorable rules.
Tearin through the old school FFs on GBA. I own FF6 on SNES, but my SNES broke, so I’m thinkin about pickin up FF6 Advance for the extra dungeons and hooplah. But after watching videos of the game on Youtube, I got disgusted watching how slow the battles move compared to the SNES predecessor. Does the slowdown bother anyone else who’s played both versions? Do you get used to it?
The slowdown is tolerable, IMO.
My brother actually did it. Pretty worthless if u ask us. The only reason to get the cards is to win the tournament in the game and to play against those ghosts in the last area. FFVIII made the cards actually worth while X 100.
I am currently in my third run through of FFVIII. Right now I am on the third disc trying to finish the damn Queen of Cards side quest to get all of the cards in the game. Annoying as shit because the Random rule has spread and won’t go away!!! Just got Bahamut and learned rare item on Cactuar Island.
Just started XI yesterday on the Ifrit server. People weren’t kidding, you need a party BADLY to get anywhere. Going around as a warrior lvl 1 and having to kneel after every battle was taking a year. :wasted:
Edit: Even then it didn’t help that the two people I actually was close to, level-wise, were pretty dumb. One of them kept attacking monsters he knew was tough. I could have tanked for him but for some reason he kept attacking all kinds of shit and getting killed.
Anyone ever defeat Omega Mark XII in FFXII using reverse and decoy on one character?
In theory it works well, but all the times I’ve faced him, without fail he will ALWAYS cast berserk on the one person who has reverse and decoy. So I just hack and slash and since I’m at level 99 I beat him in about 10 minutes, but sometimes he still makes a game of it because of that gay two HP you get (fuck you Omega Mark and your 5,000 and 7,000 HP moves).
Speaking of international editions I would love to fight Omega with his 10 million HP. I’ve seen a youtube vid and it takes fucking forever to get that last sliver of health off. Anyone faced this version? How hard is he?
Youre gonna want to solo till level 12-15. Make sure you get your Empress Band/Signet from the gate guard whenever you leave your city. Also, youre eventually gonna have to level a craft to make gil, Id HIGHLY recommend fishing, it gives the best profit at higher levels.
Go here for all your FFXI needs:
the slowdown is apparent very rarely, most consistently when edgar uses the crosbow, but other than that, there really isnt any bad slowdown in the game. its just those videos usually come from people playing on emulators that run slower
Do yourself a big favor and quit while you can.
Yes, quit XI. If you started in San D’Oria, you should go down the stream and kill pugils until you’re level 7 or 8. Always check enemies before you engage.
And the Gameboy FFs don’t slow down that much, but the battle speed is fairly slow.
I triple that motion. Quit XI while you can. Unless you plan on playing for more than a year and are a masochist, quit. This is not a game where you can log on for an hour or two and expect to get anything done. When you get up there in lvl (30 and up) be prepared to just sit and wait for party invites for 30 mins, 1-2 hours even.
Co-sign on quitting FFXI. I used to play with SRK’s very own Panicked (name drop) and I’m glad I quit.
Man, I saw XII was down to 30 bucks in Wal-Mart the other night, took all of my willpower not to buy it. I’d like to wait for the international version so I don’t end up buying the same game twice.
In the meantime, been doubling down on my FFTactics play with various challenge games. Mostly just single class challenge. As in: all your characters have to be the same job and can only use abilities from that job. So if you want to do Chemists, all of your people would look like this -
Action 1: Item
Action 2: <Empty>
Reaction: Auto-Potion
Support: Maintenance
Move: Move-Find Item
It’s a lot of fun and makes you have to really think outside of the box to win certain battles (aka Wiegraf+Velius). Right now I’ve got like six different saves doing different jobs. Archers, Geomancers, Thieves, Oracles, and Mediators in chapter three and Samurais at the end of chapter two.
I really recommend this kind of game if you’re normally a crazy level-builder in FFTactics. Yes you, the guy who is level 40 in chapter 1. I used to be you! It gives you a new perspective on the game and lets you appreciate certain jobs or skills you normally wouldn’t.
I have…but I didn’t get every single one with every single combination of arrows, as that would probably take years of playing. Getting these cards isn’t that bad though…now getting all possible weapons in Rogue Galaxy (and all possible combinations of them) is rediculous.
As for FF8’s card game…there is more to abolishing rules than the gamefaqs guides claim. I just can’t abolish that stupid Random in Dollet, no matter what. I’ve tried so many things. How do you do it?
QFMFT
FFXI is the worst game ever. 2 and 1/2 years of the most obnoxious people I’ve ever met in a go-nowhere, item-whoring, money-grabbing, non soloing crapfest deathhole. If given the chance, I’d kill everyone involved with making it.
You can only get rid of a rule in a certain area by playing games until they decide to not use the rule anymore. I’ve gotten that sometimes. But, what you can also do is get rid of your weak cards with Card Mod. Games may go a little easier w/ Random rule if all you have are level 5 cards and up.
I need to start a new game of FFIX. It’s been too long since I’ve played it from beginning to end. Am I the only person who liked using Quina? Angel’s Snack and Frog Drop are seriously underrated spells in the game.
Anyone have FFIX on their PSP?
All I got right now is FFT and I’m looking to play IX again since my old file deleted right before the lasst boss battle.
Scrub edit:
Sounds interesting. What would you say is the hardest class to work with?
This is what I tried…I’ve tried this like 20+ times and always it is Open that is spread, nothing seems to get abolished.
Sometimes I’ve had games where the Open rule gets abolished or the rule that was already used in that particular area was abolished. Playing either Zone or Watts for the Angelo card, sometimes they’ve abolished the Same rule. I guess it just boils down to luck for abolishing a rule in a certain area. But if the only rule that Dollet uses is Random and Open, then you can try to get rid of your weak cards so you can play strong cards (level 5 is as low as I would go).
