The Final Fantasy Thread 2.0 | FFXV: OUT NOW! It Really Did Exist

Ultima Weapon, FFVIII, one turn victory.

Omega has too much HP to do that bullshit, though I believe a three turn victory is feasible.

That’s what I meant when I said that the graphics suffer. I guess I should have been more specific.

While I’m being specific then, I guess I’ll add that the audio doesn’t really have any reverb, so the music and SFX don’t sound as nice, even with headphones. And the death cries for the male units sound like a cat’s meow.

Just spent four hours with IV DS, IV was already my favorite FF – one of only two or three I even like :stuck_out_tongue: – and so far this (and I’m sad to say it) blows it out of the water completely.
not really spoilers at all but I’m being cautious

[details=Spoiler]There are so many little details that make it worth the buy even if you’ve played through it like eight hundred times, right off the top of my head:

The characters have angsty little quotes they say when you go into the menu that reflect whatever’s going on in the story at the time.

Rydia has a new summon named Pochika that I haven’t even bothered using yet since it costs 50 mp but you seem to be able to set its ability list and draw it a new face with the DS stylus. It’s friends with the fat chocobo, which you can talk to really early in the game – like in Kaipo. I think the fat chocobo does non-storage stuff now, but I didn’t feel like messing with it.

Namingway is now one of the FFXII-style rabbit-moogles and it changes its own name every time you see it – Livingway, Mappingway, I forget what else.

So far the dungeons have been almost completely unchanged, I just finished the Antlion’s den and got Rosa so I guess they still have room to dick with it.

As someone said, Cecil doesn’t have the original Darkness attack anymore, he just goes into some mode where he does asstons of damage and hurts himself every time he attacks.

The game feels way easier, but it could just be because I’ve been powerleveling like crazy and they added Y-button switching (has this always been in IV? I never used it but I never looked for it either). The map system also gives you bonus items when you completely map any given floor of a dungeon, like tents and ethers three and five at a time.[/details]
Is anyone else playing this?

Y button switching is not new to ff4, but i forget the button it was in the SNES game

oh anddddd I finally just beat the game, time for newgame+

Why am I the only one left that still loves FFXI?

Your willing to pay monthly.

I still to this day haven’t beaten Emerald nor Ruby Weapon in Final Fantasy VII. :shake:

But I started a new file so here’s hoping this time’s the charm.

your desktop… is now… MINE:badboy:

I take it those playing FFIV DS can understand Japanese, or know the game well enough (like me) to get through it?

Also I just found this on wiki, don’t care if its old or not:

Sequel for FFIV . . . for the phone? WHY DO THEY DO THIS? Parasite Eve 3’s coming out for the phone, too. sigh.

This makes me curious as to how technologically advanced these japanese cellphones are. More specifically… how these cellphone games are in comparison to their console/handheld game counterparts. Do Parasite Eve 3 and FF4-2 look like DS games?

Please don’t tell me that’s Edward.

of course it is

were you expecting him to be more manly?

I’m on my second playthru of FFIV, I couldn’t resist. It’s a lot easier the 2nd time through now that I have the enemy and boss strats down. I haven’t been wiped out yet at least, plus it helps that you keep your decant abilities from previous playthrus. I can’t wait to see what other extra bosses they through at you.

As for the cell phone only game, we’ll live. It would be nice to play but eventually the cell phone versions of FF1 and whatever else eventually came to GBA, so we’ll see what happens I guess.

I can read enough japanese to get through it, the commands in FF games are all the same anyway, same with most of the items.

I’m about to finish Jeane D’arc & was going to play another srpg…

I got these Final Fantasy games, in which order should i play them…

GBA - Final Fantasy Tactic Advance
DS - Final Fantasy xii
PSP - Final Fantasy Tactics

LoL. That ‘wallpaper’ image makes a lot more sense now since I’ve played Final Fantasy IV a couple of days ago [however, I quit playing it now].

Nice thread bump. I need to subscribe to it.

rcaido - Tactics on PSP

they should remake the FF legend games make them 3D for the DS.

What time do I put in at the broken clock in zozo in ff6?

Off the top of my head it’s 6:10:50, but you could always check GameFAQs.

I tried going there but my phone would not dl the faq

^ 6:10:50 should be correct anyway.

I just finished FFXII. Ending was too good.

I finished it not too long ago, final boss fight was awesome, and that game was so good I bought the imported version with the extras.

Just started playing through FFIX again recently, and it really is an overlooked game. Story is nice, music is amazing, and its just one of those old games where I could sit there and play for hours on end.

Title screen music alone brings back memories of when I first played it years ago.
