No, but for real, I do agree his newer stuff is not nearly as crazy as before, save for some stuff off Ultravisitor, and his newest album, Hello Meow, is almost a step down from what he was doing before, but it’s all still REALLY good and enjoyable. I could listen for days.
I also read somewhere that he actually now puts a timelimit on the amount of time he uses to produce a song, which would explain some things. I hope he gets rid of that self inflicted rule on the next run.
Aphrodite is more of a poppy-DnB kind of guy IMO, but I love his sound. I still bump Aftershock in my stereo from time to time. Favorite track: “Wobble (Stumped Up Mix)”.
Well dudes listen to squarepusher for different reasons… Some guys just like his glitch stuff and others think he actually forms amazing jazz tunes from time to time.
To me he did peak with Hard Normal Daddy, nothing else compares to it but I love Ultravisitor. I just think a lot of his “sound” on the two newest albums is generic and although catchy it lacks a signature to it. I dont find myself ever reaching to hear Hello Everything after i listened to it 2-3 times.
one of my favorite dieselboy tracks is Messiah. i remember the first time i heard it, back in 2001. shit just blew my mind and i met one of the most gorgeous jungle bunnies ever in the jungle/dnb room.

Autechre is hot garbage nowadays. I opted to see them one night instead of Prefuse 73 who was playing at another venue (why both were scheduled on the same night at 2 different places is beyond me). Worse decision ever.

but i have to give goldie credit for release on synthetic hardcore records which was a 4 track EP with the tunes teminator, kemistry, sinister, and knowledge way back in 92 i think maybe one of the most complete eps ever nothing he ever did after never even came remotely close to it.

Its a genre of music. Ever heard of Jungle? Basically its what Jungle is called nowadays, with the genre aesthetics shifting in a bit of a different direction. But you could call jungle dnb, and vice versa and you wouldnt be totally wrong.

all that shit sucks man, sorry. especially red hot car. it all has that tinny laptop sound. i’m not an analogue purist but really all the stuff from 2000-2004 that came out of the idm scene was at least iffy just because people had shitty sound cards. squarepusher’s sound suffered similarly imo. there’s so much better stuff out there than this guy let’s all collectively move on. ;D
