Very cool stuff i’ll have to check these out when I’m on a comp with sound.
Is Junkie XL - Def Beat considered Drum and Bass?
I first heard this song when I played Test Drive 5 when it came out on PSX. That game still holds my #1 favorite video game sound tracks of all time list. “Def Beat” was my favorite track of them all.
i’ll name a few classics for youthat you’ll probably find on those sites
omni trio- renegade snares (foul play remix)
Subnation - scottie. this is an absolute classic
Boogie times tribe - the dark stranger (origin unknown remix)
Bizzy B - dubplate wars
return of the Q project - champion sound (the allience remix) the original darkside tune
the invisible man - the beggining
dj crstyl - the dark crystal
dj crystl - warpdrive
Bizzy B - slow jam
those are just a few pretty easy to find classics there, anybody need help just pm me
Haha, that’s where I had to get a hold of my Capital J sets.
Not as much dnb than jungle but Freaky Flow is still great.
damn i havent heard roni size in a long time, since the early 2000s. does he have anything new?
roni size does the odd bit still, seen quite a few remixes by him lately www.discogs.com will answer your question in more detail
Anyone know of artists that are more…melodic…such as Lemon D or something resembling the Third Strike soundtrack?
yeah thats not DnB…
What genre do you guys consider
this song? Puretones - Addicted to Bass (Apollo 440 mix)

NICE
i love dnb
any artists worth checking out?
maybe sorta jazz influence? or with some scratch incorporated?
Dom & Roland “Connected” is one of my all time favorite jams.
Photek owns…
Peshay
DJ Craze
Pop. I don’t consider it dnb…inspired by perhaps. No matter, besides the slick video that song was painful to listen to.
Hot cars, dumpy chicks…
no one mentioned squarepusher.
you all suck.
dont forget the Black Sun Empire
-i like this thread
plug aka luke vibert has done some cool dnb stuffs. check out drum n bass for papa + eps 1 2 3
Holy shiet how could I forget about Mr. Tom Jenkin’s aka, Squarepusher. Although I would consider him more IDM, his roots are still in DNB. He’s probably my favorite artist by far. No one comes close to his prowess in terms of musical and technical ability.
I met him after a show he did in Chicago and asked him how he can come up with all of his insane ideas and crazy breakbeatedness, in which he replied, “I don’t like to get into the specifics of it, but basically I just start off with a problem, and then solve it.” Pure greatness.
I also have a couple of lp vinyl I spin in between the more dance-able drum n bass. A lot of people seem to like it, while others are just like…uh. wtf is this?
looking for others songs that sounds like Prodigy - Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix)
-thanks
I was into DnB alot more about 3 years ago then I got into nu-skool breaks… then progressive breaks.
Anyway, JOHN B was the truth from 2003-2004, then he just got too fruity with his remixes and lame vocals. Anyway, JOHN B’s masterpieces include: Blue Eyeshadow, Take Me Home, Mercury Skies, Celebrity, American Girls… just use soulseek and downlaod albums ‘Trance N Bass’ or ‘Brainstorm’.
I was into DIESELBOY in 2001. The album I got then was ‘System Upgrade’ . That junx was tough and I used it to get other friends into drum n bass.
Other than that… I listened to a lot of DOM AND ROLAND from 2001 to 2002. He made some seriously dark musical compositions that I loved…“Chained On Two Sides” comes to mind. But, anybody remember “Can’t Punish Me”. That track was all over the place when I was going to parties in early 2001. If you know what I’m talking about, let me know so I can give you props.
(If you were going to raves when **KOSHEEN’**S "Suicide" was in its heyday, let me know for additional brownie points)
Out.
Big up on the DnB thread. Spinnin’ DnB is sooo much fun. The roomie and I 'ave a pretty varied rekkid collection (Nutone/Alex Perez/Logistics/Universal Project/Limewax/Dylan/Hazard/Baron/etcetc). Rekkids are like crack, I swear.
Currently I’m playin a lot of: Hazard+D.Minds (Mr.Happy), GDub (Dirty Games), Sappo (Pay the Price RMXs), Lomax (Numbers/Galleries).
I’ll post a set if I get a chance. Any style you guys particularly wanna hear?
wow an srker knows the acronym IDM. damn, i could talk for years.
but i’ll say this: squarepusher has sucked since 2000 or so when he went digital. never recovered the original greatness of his first couple albums.
I dunno about Lemon D being melodic: /
But to answer your question… Check these: DJ Marky and XRS(Try to find The Brasil EP and a lot of the older stuff, but its all pretty good), Makoto, LTJ Bukem(More ambient, but some of his old stuff is pretty melodic), Young Ax, Redeyes(Loving “Closer to you” at the moment), Bungle and maybe um… DJ Fresh, couple great tunes on his album.
Edit: Logistics wasn’t mentioned, meant to say him. Phoneheads, FX909 have some amazin tracks.
Keep in mind every artist in dnb makes a lot of shitty tracks. You would be best off checking out 3+ tracks at a time from many of these artists.
and I recommend these mixes: http://elektrocast.over-blog.com/article-5547876.html
