In any case been a fan of this for awhile now and was wondering if anyone shared the same interest as far as DnB goes.I’m a fan of the breakcore subgenre myself.
I worked with a couple guys who would DJ and they were mainly into Drum and Bass. They got me into it but I only have a couple albums that were recommended by them and haven’t really gotten anything since. so whats good?
yea… i used to be into it back in HS along with trip hop. the only people i can remember are diesel boy and aphrodite. surprisingly when i last checked on drum and base a couple months back, it doesnt seem that much different than what it used to be. it might just be me tho. any other artists that have been ground breaking in the past few years?
I love, live, and breathe DnB. I spin it, go to shows (Chicago has a NICE DnB scene with the likes of Stunna, Phantom 45, Pipeline, etc.), network with it, sometimes I get to spin on internet radio shows if I have the time.
I love all forms of it as well, Liquid, Neurofunk, Jump-Up, Hardstep, Techstep, Drumfunk. Dubstep is also getting a lot of attention lately as well. Although it’s played at around half the speed DnB, they compliment each other really really well.
Some favorite producers:
Nu:Tone
Greenfly
DJ Marky
Ben Sage
Emalkay
Dj Skream
Current Value
Limewax (not as much lately though, older stuff is HOT)
Counterstrike
Audio
Pendulum
The Upbeats
The Brigade
Drumsound & Bassline Smith
Whole slew of others I can’t remember right now.
Good to see some love on SRK. I grew up with D’n’B, from the time I first heard a pirated tape pack in '91, I knew this would be my favourite type of music. So many stories I could tell you guys, but I don’t want to turn this thread into my personal rambling experiences. So i’ll leave you with this, a stream to the world’s longest running d’n’b pirate station- Kool FM baby, keeping the scene alive from 1991:
http://dubplatedigest.blogspot.com/-Rapidshares/sendspaces/megauploads to all kinds of mixes.Along with various links to recent news and such.
dnb-sets.de-It’s worth repeating(especially since i havent had my coffee yet). Some dead links here and there in the links(you may run across like 2 or 3 at most)but don’t let that ruin your expectations.Lots of direct links to good mixes and if you can read them good sites.
