The Daily Bugle: MvC3 video thread

Why is it that there are so many contributors to the spidey forum yet hardly any **recent **videos compared to most other characters. It astounds me. No one even uses him in tourneys. Are people still sleeping on him or is he really just that shit?

i dont have my capture card yet

Some dude named “Jesse”, pretty good spidey:

Spiderman combo theory [without S -> cross under h web throw loop, which I will look into]

so some notes in summary of what has been said before:
-Maximum Spider after web throw must be TK’d - jump right before you use it. Aerial MS has a downward angle and travels faster.

-In some cases when you try to do the S -> web throw loop in the corner you will cross under and instead of a half circle back motion, it’s a shoryuken motion because of the timing of when you crossed under. I don’t go over that in the vid because I haven’t taken a good look at that combo yet, and I will in the future.

@ TikoMike
unfortunately Spider[men] players haven’t really figured out the best punishes/combos, and he has low health so in one combo with ample meter he can die.
one thing I find sad about Spiderman is that if your opponent just blocks everything, he can’t do much. His mobility is at least on par with characters like Magneto and Storm who have fast 8 way airdashes, but they also have grabs that can be followed up with a large meter building combo for Magneto or a DHC trick with Storm for good damage. Spiderman has very little he can do off of an airgrab without assists and even less off of a grounded grab. Because of this, Spiderman sort of has a gimmicky offense. This is decent for him because the opponent has to focus on not getting hit because when Spidey players figure out the high damage combos, he can essentially turn any counter hit->hitconfirm into a ton of damage. This means that opponents of Spidey have to be wary of Spidey’s ability to do consistent counterhits with the airdash or webzip aerials, which means his low health is less of an issue.

disregard

I’m going to check out the vid you posted shortly but all my combos that were posted in the other thread are easy counter hit combos and build their own meters. I would hate to get hit for 750 to 800K off a counter hit with the potential to “loop” or dhc into death.

I agree, that is all of Spiderman’s game. I’m just saying that if they don’t “swing” and run the chance of getting hit by the massive spidey combo and just block high/low/crossups correctly, Spiderman doesn’t have a grab to be able to truly mix them up.

I don’t run a high or low assist so I can’t really rely on an unblockablish setup either. That might be something to look into though.

Xero15’s 800k combo… mostly:

I’ll be editing this post once my BnB is uploaded.

Edit: Airborne’s BnB:

I started using the shorter BnB you posted awhile ago because it’s pretty damn easy and the extended BnB is a bit harder to nail online, and yet due to the garbage netcode in this game I can’t even hit this combo 100% online.

Evil Rahsaan

GREAT stuff from Rahsaan! Great web throw spacing, interesting web ball usage. I think he needs a slightly more reliable ground combo and he’ll be really set, good stuff from the “first” spidey player in mvc3 haha.

also Ammy is a touch matchup since she can stay in the air to avoid the big Spidey damage, and then add the ground counter that no one but clockwork uses and you have a really tough character to crack

More Evil Rahsaan, starts at 06:55 and another match at 1:08:12

Justin.tv

WOW, I have never seen Web Throw used that way! The fact that he’s catching people being open from full-screen with a rush down character is SCARY! Definitely stealin’ some of his style. ;D

Edit: I realized that he wasted meter DHC’ing after Web Throw->MS because he was not super jumping it, and he also could’ve gotten free H Web Throw’s whenever Chris G was square jumping on him with Ammy. I feel if Spidey’s will develop better ground games like Evil Rahsaan has done and then use it to their advantage against characters with incredible air throws, we could make said MU’s not as bad.

i dont talk to him but i dont think he knows either. there were times he could have saved meter and just killed with spidey or brought them closer to death then dhc into sentinel but it never happened. i could be wrong though he could have just wanted to do that you never know.

Also it looked like if he knew he messed up the SJ maximum spider, he just would use the second meter to guaranteed the kill

that’s what it looked like to me anyway

Proof of Concept

This is a proof of concept showing the setup I was referring to in the combo thread for Spidey’s infinite. I’m still toying around with it but have been busy lately but as you can see Spidey crosses up almost immediately

so because I dont have high definition quality I think I’m just going to upload vids one at a time as opposed to making a tutorial like i wanted to.

Here is a ranked match of mine though nothing great though due to minor lag and what not.

Nice matches xero15, do you always approach with j.dash H

Good stuff Xero. My Spidey plays almost identical to yours (approach, combo set ups, high/low game, etc.) which actually made me very happy cause I’ve never really seen another Spidey player besides myself. Seeing another person doing mostly the same setups lets me know I’m doing things correctly and I’m on the right path.

I’d assume he would just to OS that throw mix-up. I get thrown out of my j.dash S’s all day. @___@

Great stuff though, Xero!
