The Daily Bugle: MvC3 video thread

Thank you I uploaded more to my page that yall can check out I’ll be uploading through the weekend. Yes it is an OS but its very multi functional. Throw Select, better crossup boxes, easier to hit confirm into a dash (for me anyways), and great for catching runaway and low pokes. Due to online though I can’t showcase my other combos during matches due to me dropping them then getting punished. I’m sure everyone noticed the unfinished spider stings and what not which was not intentional

Have fun with this one

Nice vids Xero. I hope you make more. How come you don’t have an OTG assist character on your team? It’s good to have that option in case you do air throws or come across characters that can’t escape UWT combos.

You’ll notice that Zero has an OTG super so I would assume that if he really needed a follow up to UWT it would just be DHC into Skittles with Zero and then Sphere Flame with Doom.

While I really love the strength Wesker provides my Spider-Man in the form of unblockables and UWT setups, it isn’t as necessary to have him on the squad as it is for my Chun-Li team (I call them husband and wife since they work so well together in so many ways).

I actually just started picking up chun and she sets up nicely for uwt setups both mid and corner screen. when I learn to use her better I’ll incorporate a new spidey team as well. anyhow its not essential for spidey to have an otg assist. its easy true but compared to those teams once spidey hits not only does he have options as far as mixups and resets, if you chose to combo them there is no escape if doing them proper. You can escape out of UWT setups, one percent out of a hundred or not thats a one percent chance I dont want to take. Usually why I solo set up to begin with since zero can dhc right after that and kill a character all the same as doing longer combos.

WOW IM GOING TO HAVE FUN WITH SPIDEY CHUN MIXUPS ALL DAY

Hey Xero, pop over to the Chun-Li boards and give us a hand when you get a chance :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not much of a combo-smith like you are and the biggest thing holding Chun back at the moment is her poor combo damage and a few of us (there’s so few Chun players since most people see how execution intensive she is and give her up to play EZMODO characters) are trying to come up with a new BnB. I figure if you’re playing Chun now, it’d be very helpful to the cause.

A word about Spidey/Chun though: DHC synergy is horrible (but everything else meshes pretty nice). I played them together since release but broke them up and put Taskmaster in the respective teams (Spidey/Wesker/Chun became Spidey/Tasky/Wesker and Chun/Tasky/Wesker) since Wesker is a better anchor and provides a wonderful reset situation/unblockable. Chun-Li goes with Wesker like PB&J. I was really sad that I couldn’t find a way to make the team work (horrible DHC synergy/great difficulty getting in, especially if my opponent is Dante and just doing Acid Rain, jump, Air Plan, Falling Hammer on loop. There is nothing that team can do besides call in Wesker and get a lucky gun shot…which was the straw that broke the camels back).

Her legs assist is great for pressure and crossing up/crossing under opponents however it scales damage poorly. The best follow up I could find was pretty much st.M, st.H, Spider Sting ~ Bite, cr.M, cr.H, S, TK H Web Throw, (TK Maximum Spider OR Dash xx Infinite in the corner).

and when people get used to you using web ball >web throw from full screen, start using web ball > M web throw instead to catch them if they jump

I have to actually play her first. I picked her up fuckin around with a friend and went crazy. Im not sure of her move properties just yet.

I was just randomly thinking to myself while at work, “I seem to attempt to play better online when I’m recording for others.” I know I’m not that good but looking at youtube it dawned on me I can write quotes on my vids, to which I’m learning now. With that being said eventually when I add match videos win or lose I’ll be critiquing my team with what I should have did in this situation and that situation etc. Hopefully that will help the boards some with an idea or two while allowing me to get better from knowledge alone of my own play style

I need to start actually practicing as opposed to just doing combos. Anyways critique away on those and other vids in my profile

Me playing in a local Ranbat against Renegade. I think I could have won those sets if I snapped in Phoenix ahead of time and took her out before she goes DP. I was a bit nervous, so I wasn’t thinking straight, lol.

Auto-track from Maximum Spider is sooo weird, you would have won the last match if it has hit, despite the fact that it was random :stuck_out_tongue:

Ooooh, you came so close! Great stuff nonetheless. Some serious combo vid moments!

Thanks man. I still can’t believe I missed that MS! Oh well, that’s what I get for acting completely on impulse I guess. XP Am I the only having trouble consistently landing that Tiger Knee Maximum Spider? Either I start the input too early, or I don’t complete the motion. At least I have Tasky to DHC into for coverage, though.

Nah you’re pressing the two attack buttons to quick I would think. Gotta have a half a second delay with the button press to allow spidey to super jump. You’ll get used to it the more you do it.

But ask Xero, he seems to land it all the time in his videos.

Though the combos are meh, the Japanese seem to like spidey:

 not use to being noticed in the threads like this. Depending on your speed and what you’re using you can wait for the wall bounce sound and then TKMS by the time they touch the wall Spidey is completely free of recovery so it is a lot easier as opposed to trying to do it preemptively. In any case with Task behind Spidey you can still do the normal MS on accident get somewhat close and then DHC into the forward arched super and they should spin right into its path.

I can’t tell if it’s due to lag but the two biggest critiques I had for you were that you used :s: in block strings sometimes (if I try that against people, my Spidey usually ends up dead cause they won’t push block it) and trying to continue a combo even after it has dropped. Again it could be just lag but there were a few instance where after a webswing you’d go for st.:m: and it’d whiff and then proceed to do the rest of the combo anyway, which would also result in a dead Spidey offline ><;;

The only other major critique was some matches (only like 1, maybe 2) you spent the meter inefficiently by blowing all of it on something I think like Doom Time when Sphere Flame or TKMS xx Rekkoha would’ve sufficed. Again, online, lag, etc.

The thing I liked the most out of the whole video for sure was your spacing, clever use of UWT resets, and the TK Web Swing as an over head to pressure… that last one I really need to start doing.

Good stuff as always. I really wanna get a capture card or start going to the Break so that way people can critique my Spidey and help me out.

yeah I’m in Turkey logging onto the UK servers. Sad part is I’m military and the internet off base is way faster but we cant use it so I work with what I’m given. I do look at my vids and see lots of unpunished whiffs and think in my head I need to correct that but you’re right I do go for combos after they have dropped but only because of lag. One thing I have practiced is how to whiff recover after a dropped combo using web zip and assists. unfortunately though I do lose to a lot of random shit too. As for the lvl 3 those are actually accidental. I do try for sphere flame as it leaves me personally at a better position though you dont see me going for some of the options I have, again due to lag. I really want to record some offline matches though but no competition around here on base. I can guarantee my Spidey, Zero, Doom are way faster and just overly better offline where I can actually hit double web swing combos into UWT, Zero’s jumping loops, Doom’s fly combos and more importantly web ball resets.

I’ll work on my performance since I have a small crowd of viewers though, it would be unfair to perform and not improve for the viewers.

DeRezz:

Loved watching your Spidey, but one quick tip. When Tron is doing those jump Heavy’s, she looked like she was open for a M Web Throw on several occasions. If you throw out Taskmaster’s H. Arrows Assist, and Spidey’s M Web Throw when she jumps, you’ll most likely catch her with one of the two. Hell, you might be able to even tag her with a web glide and go into some air magic series or something.

Edit: One of Web Throw’s best qualities is to just catch someone from long range when they’re open. Learn the angles and abuse the living hell out of it. ;D

haha I need to record some videos! it might be a while though … ;[
Spider/Viper/Doom is similar to Spider/Zero/Doom, kinda, but it’s allllll gooddddd

Although, I’m using missiles over rocks just because of the whole high damage web throw combos thing
