the beauty of a good bnb is that it builds a meter for the finisher.
I’ve been aching to watch some passionate spidey players go at it. Spidey mirror matches are annoyingly frustrating and I need some insight in this match up.
Ive always said I’ll play whoever wants to play for a set and I usually ask if they want me to record to post up. If I plan on playing someone I usually ask my boy if I can play at his spot on the weekends. Spidey has plenty of kill combo’s on a large majority of the cast without being excessively hard (they are just very DHC dependent). The guy has a point even though he was a bit harsh with his wording. A lot of spidey players seem to forget that practicality is more important in a match then theory fighter.
And what a lot of people forget is if people don’t try shit things don’t change. Speaking on a larger scale regardless of me landing one mill combos or not in an online match is not important. I am only one player who’s only main concern is providing info for those who want to take and use it. What people forget is the point of combo videos and theory fighting, which is to open possibilities in gameplay. Everything ‘practical’ came from a risk at one point but that was during a time when players saw stuff and tried to apply it in games far more technical than this game. With all that said if you’re running spider/doom and doom dies and youre losing spidey damage output then that’s the players own fault for not exploring new option or choosing not to maximize damage because it’s not ‘guaranteed’. That really applies to anything that requires such and such factors that can be taken away. The easiest example I can reference this to is msp’s in mvc2. A lot of msp’s out there but only a few players that could run a deadly magnus without psylocke backing him to set up for infinites or resets, so when she died those same mag players weren’t so deadly. If people want practical they need to apply it to themselves not to a majority because that’s something they cant control. I just find it quite hilarious when someone says ‘this and that aren’t practical because it’s not simple to do’ but have no problem saying something else is practical but is much harder to do, ie high level Spencer combos.

No I’m not a drone like some people here that thinks everything that either Xero or Airborne do is godlike with spidey because of combo wombo videos. It’s obvious they would suck in a tournament and that’s why they make combo wombo videos to try and stand out. Have we ever seen a match video from Airborne? No obviously not because then he would show how bad his gameplay is and therefore his theory fighting would have no merit. I mean I give props to Xero for at least posting up match videos of how much spidey can suck without incorporating webthrow in his game.
That’s like saying “if one of my characters die then I can’t use the DHC glitch so there’s no point having a team using the DHC glitch” yet most of the high level players adapt a team around using the DHC glitch. Even Evil Rahsaan knows the importance of having the webthrow glitch in his game with little room for error in dropping the combo.
I mean here we go again, theory fighting. You’re relying on the fact that people are going to snap Doom every chance they get or hit him as an assist / happy birthday when in fact I have never seen anyone in high level tourney’s snap in Doom that much. Also, If you call out the assist at stupid times then you deserve to lose Doom.
Looking at your match vids you do mediocre damage with spidey whether Doom is alive or dead so obviously you can’t back up your point? I mean it hurts your gameplay because you aren’t taking advantage of the webthrow glitch. Seriously Xero, your problem is your ability to take criticism and change.
That’s not the problem at all. First you talk but dont understand what you are saying. Web throw glitch? Since when is it a glitch? Because it’s unscaled? They consider it a throw in this game and like all other throws it doesnt scale. Secondly, outside of a combo setup missiles do nothing for Spidey. I can see if he had godlike lockdown of his own to back his use of them but he doesnt, that may change in the next installment because of web zip cancels though. Plasma is simply better, for punishing players who play away from you and for getting in. As for snapping Doom in, it’s happened doesn’t have to be a snap in though, I never said anything about snapping him in to begin with. You’re so caught up on my theory fighting that you eliminate everything else. Matter of fact you’re so caught up on my performance in general that you look past everything else. I’m not here to entertain you. I’m not here to say I’m the best cause that’s already obvious given the fact that I don’t go to tournaments and I have a demanding career. I’m here to give information like I have been doing. You on the other hand, haven’t provided shit in general other than negativity, which I’m totally cool with I like my haters. Anyway it is a glitch. If it isn’t a glitch (or is a throw as you put it) then why is it one of the many fixes in Ultimate? Webthrow is a glitch just like the DHC glitch because of one thing, they don’t scale damage properly. Is it a throw? No you can block it and HIT (notice I use the word HIT) it mid combo. Throws are not HITS. Throws are things like Zangief’s SP or command grabs in MVC3. Command grabs you cannot combine them mid combo. Therefore, webthrow is a HIT seeing as you can BLOCK it. That’s like saying one of Spencer’s hypers is a throw because he throws them around with his grapple.
Also Doom doesn’t take up two slots on your team buddy. You do have another assist.
As for snapping in Doom, then please explain other ways of the opponent killing of Doom like you say other than what I have stated. ie Snapping him in or the opponent tagging him while using him as an assist. Don’t make me laugh and say you would hard tag him in.
BTW I have contributed. I told everyone that your combo wombo isn’t practical like Spidey’s infinite, thus saving them time and effort.
PS keep telling yourself I don’t understand what I type. We all know it’s a little defence mechanism to make yourself feel better when your anxiety kicks in.

Thank you for providing the comic relief to the spidey boards since all we do is serious work around. I mean coming up with new and innovative combos, applications for a kara crouch H, UWT escapes, matchup help, X-factor loops, and general advice to interested spidey players has no amusement value whatsoever. Thank you for contributing such insight to the spidey boards. So I guess telling us how impractical a combo which has applied concepts and moves built from the knowledge gained from this board is not the only thing you contributed. :lol: you’re funny. It’s not a glitch, there are many versions of throws that Capcom has used over the years. Web throw being one of them. MvC2 had Colossus with a throw you could block but also allowed you to combo into it. Haggar has an air grab you can combo into hmm. You’re right there are two team members on the team how could I have forgotten that oh so quickly? Anyways judging by what you’re saying you don’t take damage so there’s never a chance that you may switch to another character to save the person dealing the most damage. Ok, check. You also said that landing the inifinite isn’t practical earlier on, unless I read it wrong but whatever, but if I did, tell us how it’s more practical than said combo where one requires you to stay in the corner and the other you can land midscreen and is easier on timing? Better yet, stop beating around the bush and explain what’s so impractical about it or ever better than that why are you concerned with how I play so much?

That’s right out of every single match video there has not been one instance of this combo being used in a real match. But hey because the timing is apparently so easy, if you even land this once in a real match I’ll give you a clap. If you have this as your staple bnb and land it multiple times, hell I’ll take back everything I said and apologise. Like I said before there is a lot of room for error to drop this combo in a real match.

Of course you’re going to take damage as Spidey but again you’re forgetting that Doom doesn’t take up two slots. By that time if you’re still taking more and more damage then you’re obviously losing or perhaps lost the match maybe?

It’s called practice, go try it you may even decide to attempt that combo. The hardest part about it is the web zip and once you get that timing down it’s not that hard. Hell not even a week later I believe someone posted up on here a slightly easier way to land it, I guess that guy is crazy for doing such a thing to attempt a damaging combo. Just play me this weekend and call it that. As far as I can tell you dont even play Spiderman.

doing a basic web throw combo for 700k~ isn’t that hard… even my babby execution can do it.
over time people will eventually get shit down, or else the ridiculous frame-counting specifics of marvel 2 wouldn’t exist period

oh and the key to killing a spiderman team is actually killing spiderman, not doom. in most cases spiderman is your biggest problem by far.
