I honestly have seen like 2 people out of the myriads of Spidey-Doom players that use assists *outside *of their combos. Spidey is not fighting by himself!!!
I don’t get it. Why did that Spidey player just stop doing web throw loops? He had the opportunity and we saw in the first round he was capable of it, but he chose not to.
I’m guessing he was afraid of losing damage. I’m going to assume the first missed MS was an accident but after Doom died you see he went straight for the normal air combo instead of the web throw. This is only my assumption though. I found it more funny that the commentators are still on old Spidey tech though.
Well look at his team composition. If he uses hidden missiles then his damage potential falls dramatically and Wesker doesn’t help spidey get in at all. If anything the team composition is whats hurting him the most because everyone augments spidey’s combo ability and nothing else.
And yet, sadly, he can still do almost 1 mil by starting a combo with Hidden Missiles. Or, he could just use Doom’s BEST assist, Plasma Beam, and have a great assist that not only helps Spidey get in, but can extend Wesker’s combos. With or without Hidden Missiles, Spidey still has the highest meterless damage output in the game.
just an idea, but would using wesker’s otg to set up double webthrows and doom’s plasma beam to UWT be viable? just an idea i thought of but no mvc3 atm to try it out. i’m thinking the recovery from the beam would set up an air recover > UWT.
Yeah, you could use Doom’s Plasma Beam assist to allow them to flip out into an UWT reset, but since they aren’t being held by a web ball, they will be able to tech out in any direction they’d like. Also, the UWT reset isn’t inescapable as it is, so I hate thinking about relying on it and just use it to catch my opponent off guard.
you can use web ball to connect after a plasma beam both midscreen and in the corner its in my vids. The only benefit I see with missiles is the way its used allows more calls for it due to time lapse but Doom is out there so long that hes vulnerable while shooting missiles
Hidden missiles is a bit too unpredictable to reliably start combo’s from though. But yeah Plasma beam would be the better choice over all for that team.
Here’s my take on missiles. They were meant to lock someone down in an area so if you use them for their intended purposes then you can still find a way to get damage off of them. If you land that hit before the missiles hit cool you still have another assist you can use to gain what damage you can. If missiles hit first thats even better as you can call Doom out again later in the combo to still get your multiple web throws in. The downfall though is you give up forward cover meaning you have to be on your P’s and Q’s with Spidey so they continue to stay locked down where you want them to be
And those myriads of people would probably place better than you in any tournament.
But anyway if you use the assists you say to use then you sacrifice the webthrow glitch. Just look at how shit Xero does in his match vids with plasma beam assist.
And don’t give me that spidey can do over 1 mill by himself crap. That’s like saying spidey’s infinite is practical in a real match. Yours and Xero’s combo rarely works in a match where your opponent isn’t a training dummy. Pull it off in a few times in a tournament game and then I’ll listen to you. I mean honestly the combo doesn’t follow the Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) principle which is important in MVC3. If you drop a combo or more importantly a LINK then most times you better kiss the match goodbye.
You two should stick to making combo videos because in all honestly I would love to put money down on neither of you ever making it past the 1st round of losers bracket in a pro tourny. You’ll just continue theory fighting here and Xero will continue to show us that he can’t pull of his theory fighting (and 1 milly combo wombo) in a real match via online opponents and would rather blame lag and laggy inputs.

Of course I’ll record it but apparently I’m free pickings so you should have fun with that. Hell I’ll even run my Spidey/Doom with plasma just to keep it free for ya.
i’ve placed with spidey using no assists like i should, didn’t win but i did ok. but then again no one knew what to do vs spiderman since he’s rarely used by competitive players.
why is it that whenever i see you comment, you are shitting on xero and airborne? did they do something to you?
most tournaments consist of bnb > dhc glitch > bnb for kill combos, it messes your opponents team chemistry and you just gotta worry about x-factor. spidey don’t got one so he needs a kill combo which is easy enough to pull off with spidey using universal bnb combos.
in umvc3 this may be true but not for the time being.
