The Current State of the World thread

Can’t wait for the inevitable Downfall of America.
Like living here, but shit needs to change.

The people who were arrested earlier during the day on the bridge are still handcuffed inside the buses, for hours without food and water.

The legal observers were arrested as well, which are neutral and serve only to document the situation.

lol. no food or water? The fuck?

US citizens are already dying. Big brother doesn’t like to talk about it though.

America is already finacing the cartels and supplying them with weapons. One of the top ranking cartel leaders said that they respond to the American government.

the situation is looking very very grim

That is such an embarrassment

Lol it’s an example on Wikipedia article now

look at what happened during the G20 when it was in Canada last year. Shit got crazy, provocateur “cops/activists” set fire to obviously set up cop cars (google it), and even BEFORE it happened, pretty much all of our rights in the citty of Toronto evaporated in no time. Next G20 better be on a battleship in the middle of the ocean, because it’s a fucking joke to have it on land. Anywhere. Ever.

I love how pretty much every world government 100% looks like and proves it has no fucking clue what the fuck is going on, or how to actually deal with it. I truly think that the ultra rich plutonomy is terrified right now.

As much as it sucks for those protesters, the cops did tell them to stick to the walkways and not spill out onto the main roads.

Wrong. That’s what you think if you listen to the lies in the media.

The cops told the protestors to leave and to take the road on the bridge. It was a trap they set up. Once the protestors were a good portion in, the cops trapped the protestors and told all of them to get off the road or get arrested, which was too late already.

Also, cover up fail:

The Police told protesters to take the route that landed them on the road portion of the bridge. Whether or not it was intentional or just an error by a few officers (considering that afterwards they immediately barricaded them in with nets and then arrested them all it would seem to not be unintentional. Oh and they magically had busses waiting, lined up & ready to take them all to jail too) is up for debate.

Also, it seems that all that happened was they pretty much went through a few hours of hell and received a citation. Most didn’t even go to jail because there was no room. What was the point of that? Oh yeah, money. And the people that are now entered into law enforcement databases who weren’t there before.

The police were kettling.

Pretty much to annoy the group into going away.

I wonder how many cops would be out there protesting if they were allowed to.

id like to think that if they really wanted to or cared, they would be out there protesting. But then again, I have this hatred for modern police in general.

At least BBC is reporting what they’ve been told, that is all sides.

you mispelled pussy

it was done before, and successfully, in the US. I’m sorry, but when you’re making billions or even TRILLIONS, it’s time to contribute a little more. Welcome to big boy society, where humanity shares in its endeavours to bring freedom and a healthy life to all its citizens, rather than bend over and let whoever’s wallet is bigger stick their dick in your lunch meat.

edit: why hasn’t catchafire or spuddly or one of the other clown trolls hopped all over this thread by now?

I am disappoint

But thats the thing though, when the offere was put out there to raise the tax rate, people were bitchin and moanin about it. Thats why i’m sketchy about this 1% tax thing going through. Does 1% make that much of difference?

When it comes to that much money across that many transactions, yes. $0.01 for every $1.00 but these dudes are dealing with much much larger sums of cash. If there’s a trillion moved around in total transactions, that’s what $10 billion made in taxes?

Government debt reduced, more money for them to spend as well for programs and whatever. I think it would help immensely.

The problem with raising taxes is that businesses are sensitive to small increases and it encourages them to take their business elsewhere. Everyone should pay taxes though. During the NY tax hikes many companies relocated from Manhattan to Pennsylvania and the like. Many outsource to other countries (ex: China, India, etc).

A major issue is government spending and the complete lack of transparency. Americans pay tax dollars and they should have the right to know what their money is being spent on and to have a voice in how it is allocated. An example is, why are we still spending millions of dollars on the old factories producing tanks (out-dated design no longer used)?

in america that debt can’t be escaped even after 7 years. it’s unique in that your COMPLETELY fucked.

RE wallstreet protests: They’re too disorganized to be effective in the long run I think. The protest groups are ranging from anarchists to far-leftists to far-rightists, and that sort of amalgamation simply doesn’t have the cohesion to last, IMO.

Are you honestly trying to imply that “race to the top” was anything less than an utter joke? It doesn’t matter how much money you’re giving to education if that money is just going to be uselessly squandered anyways. It’s like trying to put out a fire by smothering it with money rather than buying a fire truck.

Probably a good example of the most fucked up part of the country’s political system though: Where anyone who doesn’t share your idea of how money should or should not be spent is only saying what they say because of some grandiose, unilateral Orwellian scheme.

Plus it seems rather strange you say things like:

But you seem to cringe and howl in protest whenever the idea of changing, shrinking, or eliminating bureaucracies is brought up, which many people argue is the root of stagnation.

You’re making a very big and (imo) inaccurate assumption there. Though I also think media blackout is the wrong term. Stuff is getting reported, it’s just ( other than this story on the brooklyn bridge arrests, which has been getting media coverage ) rather boring stuff right now, and boring doesn’t sell well.

Speaking of Orwellian:

Why has no one brought up the POTUS circumventing legal rights and laws to have citizens of his own country assassinated in all this mess? That seems like it should be big fucking news.

EDIT:

Out of curiousity, do you think that should extend to people whos non-zero incomes are currently low enough to be in the 0% income tax brackets?

Smartest comment in the entire thread.
