The Current State of the World thread

I say we get Ron Paul into office.

With Colin Powell as his Vice.

The reforms would be unstoppable.

Who gives two shits if he dislikes black people, or browns, or yellows. I sure as hell don’t care, its not like he can make black peoples illegal. People shouldn’t care if somebody hates people of color, its irrelevant in today’s society and near impossible to go back circa 2011 in respect to racial laws.

It always has been. I do wish people would actually realize this, its not that hard.

pedoviejo, No. You can’t have a president with that kind of attitude. Your response just right now should be evidence enough.

ā€œWho cares if he hates people of color?ā€ That kind of attitude makes it acceptable for that perverse ā€œideologyā€ to continue. That kind of attitude would never have ended slavery, or made it possible for any kind of civil rights progress that we as a society have made. ā€œOut of sight, out of mindā€, or as long as it doesn’t affect me. As long as everything ends up the way we want it, who cares how it gets done?

It’s true that we should all have our own opinions, but personally I would not want someone with that kind of ignorant or perverse view to be given the level of power and influence as the presidency.

It creates or allows the continuation of a negative cycle if you leave it acceptable.

One could argue that it’s his liberty to have his own beliefs, and it is his choice.

But I say fuck that. It’s not right. [S]Sorry[/S]. Just my opinion.

And just because he’s racist doesn’t mean that’s the only reason I don’t like him.

(I would like to note that Ron Paul isn’t an outright racist, but he has said some very disturbing things, and has been affiliated with racist groups.)

The founders of this country were racist.

Personally I’d take a racist, hard-nosed, President who wasn’t afraid to stand up to the oligarchies in this country and around the world over the mealy-mouthed crony capitalists we have now.

What’s Ron Paul capable of doing that Barack Obama isn’t? How is voting in a different smooth-talking twit going to solve the problems that voting in the previous smooth-talking twit didn’t solve? Do people think that if they dutifully show up and check a box every four years, someday they’re going to check the right box and America will be fixed? Is there any reason at all to think that any of these people are capable of running this country anymore?

And before this turns back into an argument about which of these dickheads is the least-dickheaded, what the fuck do people think they’re solving by knowingly voting for some dickhead just because he’s not as dickheaded as the others?

He can get us out of these wars for one.

Because thats how it is. You take the lesser of two evils that isn’t gonna screw you over. People don’t realize that its gonna take awhile for things to go back to how it was pre-Bush Jr.

In truth, though, no one man is going to save the American people.

Basically, we’re all fucked because the American people sure as hell aren’t going to save themselves.

Ignorance plays a huge part in that.

But either one of those evils is going to screw you over.

The very nature of what the political process has mutated into is what not only prevents these problems from being solved, but often ensures that they become more entrenched. I guarantee you that whomever ends up in the White House–and it doesn’t matter which one–whomever it is will have been already bought by people who have more money than all the people who come to this site put together. Before his ass even hits the chair. Guaranteed.

Yup. I kinda doubt that those ā€œSuper-Pacsā€ who pour millions into their slave’s/candidate’s campaigns aren’t going to ask for anything in return after they’re elected.

That’s proabably the dumbest thing I’ve heard on this thread… and that’s saying a lot.

Oops. Looks like I was proven wrong yet again.

I think his point is that we are ALL OF US slaves to the oligarchy, irrespective of our melanin counts.

Though I agree that he worded it insensitively.

Class warfare.

well we just closed down our embassy in Syria, so im sure things will start to rampup soon. but with china, Russia, and Iran backing them, I’ll bet Assad stays in power barring any type of assassination attempt ala ghaddafi. what irks me is why are we building military hospitals and a mil base\city in Georgia of all places?! I’m all for aggroing the bear, but not in it’s back yard.

race at this point should be irrelevant in any political discussion. The fact that its a legitimate focal point is really disturbing, who cares, out of sight out of mind? Bahh. Im a slave to wall street, and soon going to be a slave to the UN. And the man can’t change the laws to make blacks, yellows, browns, whites, less citizens. Its impossible to revert any law aimed at making the lives of a certain race better. The issue’s of today are financial, financial slavery, religion, and foreign. Im not going to look at a man and disregard everything else because he has said he doesn’t like my race. I really don’t give two shits, because he can’t do anything to me, Im not going to be afraid of his racial beliefs there is no reason to fear that or be weary of that. He isn’t going to say Mexicans have to be register and eat at different facilities, that era of fearing or worrying about that is long over, I have real important issues to think about, as does he, and so do you.

Now Im not saying vote Ron Paul, he or anybody else for that matter won’t do shit until America wakes up and takes a line of constitutionality and put liberties and freedoms before anything else, this county will remain the shit stain that it is.

The only thing I can think about is maybe standing up when we need the President to stand up? Even that isn’t guaranteed.

Can we even go pre-Bush era back? 9/11 didn’t change shit, but everybody sure as hell thinks so.

excellent point, Question!

How do we fix that, granted the problem are the problem

I should have worded it differently.

TL;DR we aren’t going back to a Jim Crow era with the current government in place. Why worry?

Its possible to go back to that but again its gonna take awhile but the problem lies in the fact that the ego’s in Washington is whats gonna mess it up from even happening. What Obama has done puts its on track to make it happen but say if he does get re-elected, even after that second term, if it isn’t a democrat that’s gonna take office then consider all the work he’s gone right down the toilet.

Contractors have to get that paper. Doesn’t matter at what level of government you are working with, if you see some really dumb decisions being made where somebody is building shit, or a company got a contract to do something, just admit to yourself that some shady dealings happen and instead of a devil, they have Balrog on their shoulders constantly telling them to get paid.

In defense of those statements; if you buy into Ron Paul’s sincerity regarding philosophy of civil liberties and limited, small govt, offensive personal views like this of the executive would really amount to nothing. Now with our present govt in reality, it can make a huge difference if, in fact, the politician is willing to act without regard to his political future.

if you want to know how fucked up the syria situation is go to youtube and type, ā€œGuy still alive as half his face is blown off by Assad rocket attack (Homs,Syria) Graphicā€ … then watch the video.

true but the fact that an airbase(if I’m right) is being built then that means our soldiers are gonna have a presence there and that usually means one thing

The Germans probably felt the same way about Hitler’s anti-Semitic views as long as it means more work for the German people and a better life, what harm could it do?
Less than a decade and 30 million lives later… whoopsies.

I’m not suggesting something to that extreme would happen here, but having an openly racist, hate filled president is just not a good idea.
What’s even scarier than that is knowing that the people actually elected them into office. That’s when i would seriously consider moving out of the country.
