The Complete Dudley Thread

How different is PS2 Dudley to Arcade Dudley?

If I can get as specific as possible that would be great!

I don’t know of any differences. Sometimes I’ve felt like his hitbox is different (can’t be more specific than that), but other than that I think he’s mostly the same.

^ Awesome thanks!

Uummmm… What character specific option selects does Dudley have? What general option selects work well for him?

I seem to have never really tried to learn option selects so I would just like to know how it could help my game.

at like 1:59 in the video you throw him than go for f+hk and you get reversaled. Than you get a knockdown of a super. Than you sit there and kinda dance outside of effective overhead range. Than you decide to go for cr. rh. I just felt that was really obvious. You didn’t try to make your opponent uncomfortable and you didn’t really threaten him with more than one option. I know you didn’t have super but he was half stunned already.

Also after like 2:20 after he blows his super you retreat and give him the full screen to start chucking LoV’s at you. You’ve almost got a full super meter.
fuck that shit.
stay in his face. you have the frame advantage there, use it to put some kinda attack on him.

that’s all pretty much like dudley stuff
remy stuff is below

jump over low LoV’s with uoh. sometimes.

The closest thing I have is one against Dudley. When he knocks you down in the corner, on wake up, tap forward, down, then forward again. This deals with the rose, low short, and rh overhead. Of course it can be beaten by towards forward, or low rh, but still pretty good.

Ahhhh, this thread sure takes me back :lovin:

What conditions need to happen to land UOH into SA3?

What can I do other then jumping? I am having a bad habit jumping in.

How can I practice the F.MK into SA3 hit confirm?

I think landing UOH into super is easier with Dudley than most characters, but it basically follows the same principle as landing any UOH into super. Try to make it hit on the last few active frames, either by doing it meaty, or doing it from near max range.

There is the classically ghetto “spam stand rh while buffering into ex mgb.” Otherwise, walking in isn’t that bad of an idea haha. Dudley doesn’t have the greatest pokes to get in, but stand fierce stuffs a lot of stuff and pushes them back.

Seriously though, sometimes just chillin and building meter isn’t that bad of an idea. I’d say for most characters, they’d rather Dudley not get meter, so it can lure them to close in and do that work for you.

Hard to say, but if it helps, it has really similar timing to Ken’s c.mp hit confirm.

I’ve only really been playing Dudley for a few months so hopefully this information is helpful

Do they have to be crouching for the UOH into SA3 to work?

And I have the timing for F.MK fine I just need to learn how to hit confirm in terms of when it hits get the sa3 and when it does not then not make the super come out.

But thanks so much though! Its helping a lot!

I don’t think they need to be crouching, but it will be a lot harder to link it if they aren’t.

If you are executing f+mk into super 100% without being able to hit confirm it right now, maybe just grind it out against random block computer. I execute my supers kinda goofy so it’s hard to give any tips. I’ll just say f+mk seems a lot faster than it really is, you just have to get used to it. I think its because it has fast startup.

This is actually one of Dudley’s easier links, in my opinion. The most basic way to practice is just keep doing f.MK on the random guard dummy and try anticipating if it hits or not. Buffering during the motion kinda helps since there are no QCF+K or srkmotion+K moves Dudley has, and you’d have to be really crazy with the stick if BSB or command dash comes out. The f.MK link feels a bit more lenient than f.HK, so you’ll have enough time to grind out QCFx2+P(drumming the three punches helps too) after you see it.

Doing it over and over is the best way to learn the timing and being able to confirm. I know it may sound overly simple, but it really boils down to anticipation and knowing the timing.

If you connect a max range uoh, you can link into cr.mp x duck xx super. Munakata steez: .

Leap Attack > st.HK only work on Makoto ?

Are they good OS with Dudley ?

Thanks for the info guys. Really helping out my dudley.

Hey Guys, who are some marquee 3s Dudley players to look for on youtube?

Aiku, kokujin, rikimaru, Dan.

Fujiwara for nostalgia.

I dunno if you’d want to call him a “marquee Dudley”, but I also recommend checking out Kuroda’s Dudley. Kokujin, Aiku and Rikimaru tend to play VERY aggressive, so watching a good defensive Dudley would also be beneficial.

P.S.- Even though he’s out of the spotlight, I still consider Fujiwara to be the greatest Dudley ever.

Are there any notable NA players? Jap stuff is fantastic!!!, just that English commentary helps me greatly in understanding MU’s

Victoly is known as the best Dudley in America. There’s also kin3tix from NorCal and epsilon from Mid-A.

aneurism from Canada is good.
But I don’t think any English commentary will help you out.
