The Complete Alex Thread

Hm…I wanna see what Zangoef does with Hyper Bomb…upload matches?

^ not much, he just dashed and did hyperbomb and that’s it.

Oh, so nothing too spectacular, then. Nothing to sway me to go back to Hyper Bomb, anyway. Boomerang Raid’s still where it’s at.

They say Ibuki is one of Alex’s worst matches, but I’m pretty good against her for whatever reason. If you have mechanical timing, you can link f.hp x SA1 on her, but you only have, like, 1 frame to do it.

^nah, to me chun is alex’s worst match.

Actually, If you get ibuki to the corner
she is more or less dead already

unlike chun who has a million of options to get out

I’m with the whole argument on Chun being Alex’s worst matchup as well.

Didn’t that statement about Ibuki being Alex’s worst come from the AC guide?

Well, I said “one of his worst.” I think that Chun, Oro, and Elena are his absolute worst too.

Anyway,

*NEW*

You can grab Ibuki out of her SA1 with an Air Knee Smash, if you do it right after her super flash.

Oro? hmm, i don’t think so. i think yun is harder.

hey, guys im trying to learn alex but i have some questions.

  1. whats alex’s best meaty attack against opponent on wake-up?

  2. whats the best way to use his UOH?

  3. whats his most effective super cancel into SAII?

  4. is it okay to abuse jab flash-chop?

  5. Is there anything that can be canceled or ticked into powerbomb (not hyper bomb)

  6. what are the main special moves i should be using in a match? and in what situations?

lol sorry for the mini quiz:pleased:

please, i really want to learn alex and it would be great if you guys could help me out:tup:

1- His best meaty moveis his stading Forward of course, I think it is the best
his c.lk and s.jab are nice too

2- His UOH is another mix up of course, I would advice you to use it once every 4 matches lol
your best chance is to use it when they dont except it (linking it to SA2 of course)

3- S.Mk to SA2 is the best IMO, the other ways to connect are just mmmm flashy…

4- Depends on what you mean by abuse, remember that alex is ALL about mix ups, so use it when you know it will work (when they expect a throw or something)

5- Millions of stuff, you can tick powerbomb from either c.short or s.Jab, jumping jab too etc etc

6- there is no list of moves you should use… its all bout mix up (yeah again), just remember that

k thanks bro:pleased:

i really needed the info. Ill ask you if i need anymore alex help. ummm can i add you to my buddy list? just to PM you if i need to. or see if your online if i need any help.

again, thanks man:clap:

EDIT:
by standing forward you mean standing fierce right?

I cant seem to cancel s.mk into SAII the s.mk animation ends too fast the move ends by the time i do qcfX2+hp…any tips?

one more thing. Ive always wondered what IMO meant…?

No, he doesn’t. It’s standing forward, but the timing is strict.

IMO = In My Opinion

  1. standing forward and sometimes meaty uoh
  2. to link it into sa2
  3. standing forward (you can try also c.lk but its not hit confirmable)
  4. yes, lol, ok depends on which character you are against and the player also
  5. a lot of stuff: c.lk, s.lp, uoh, j.lp, j.lk, j.fp (wait a sec)
  6. i dont use spiral ddt or the knee grab too often. the specials i use most are jab powerbomb, ex slash and ex flash chop. the stomp is good but it should not be abused imo.

standing fierce is also a good meaty attack, stuffs chuns ex sbk.

In my experience, a real meaty atack is the one that can stuf an srk
chun lis SBK wake up is kinda slow

s.MK does stuff srks

easy fix to do standing mk into super just do qcf mk then qcf p and the super will come out because alex does not have a qcf k move

Thats actually not necesary
s.MK has a very short window of hit comfirm
even touh is short it is still “Usable”

just wanna put it out there cus i noticed it…

when fighting the twins with alex his b&b doesnt combo correctly if there crouching… the ex flash chop after mk either only hits for one hit (not knocking down) or completely whiffs.

so if u get a jump in fierce on them its probably a good idea to combo the close mk into ex elbow slash (the back forward kick move) it’ll combo whether they r crouching or not.

maybe the ex flash chop b&b will combo if u get it close enough but i’ve seen way to many times today it miss.

this is from the recent yang vs alex matches i got the great priviledge to watch at cf… the alex player’s name excapes me at the moment… but he was very decent and i cringed every time the flash chop didnt combo cus he REALLY needs a knock down to win against yang. this was casual but it was good to watch and notice. =]

Just thinking out loud here, but I’ve been using Alex for awhile and from what I’ve gathered SA2 is the ‘safe’ super with Alex, since it’s fairly hit confirmable and guaranteed off certain hits, but its probably one of the worst supers because it has too be near point blank for guaranteed full hits, its not usable as an anti-air because its easily parried or whiffs completely. Basically its only really good point is that its fast startup usable as a wakeup.

On the other hand SA1 can be used as an anti-air due to invincibility frames, and it gets full damage when it grabs. But I think people have been trying to use it like Hugo’s SA1 which doesnt work due to its different properties. I’ve used it well as an anti air, following a parry or after certain types of air hits. Plus the EX meter is one stock less than SA2, and I’ve had no real worries about it running low.

SA3 on the other hand is the interesting super, its got a short bar which impedes Alex’s EX game (which was never too crash hot anyway; whiff EX Slash and reversable EX Elbow anyone?) but it also suggests that the super should be incorporated as a threat more often such as Ryu’s Denjin. It’s rather pointless to try and combo into since it can be jabbed out of, therefore I would theorise that Alex’s SA3 is for wakeup corner mindgames, although it can be used as a anti-air or full screen punisher if timed well.

Let’s assume that the opponent is knocked down in the corner, and Alex is standing nearby, the opponent sees that Alex has a full SA3 bar, as so assumes that he will use SA3 in the near future, but Alex uses that knowledge to his advantage, throwing, FK > Slash, whiff SP throw. But then when he leasts expects it, when the opponent goes for a counter throw or wakeup move, Alex busts SA3. The interesting thing is, if the opponent tries to jump out of an assumed throw attempt, SA3 will catch them on the way down. Now the opponent is 50% life, and dizzy and Alex is standing on top of them.

Anyway this is my ‘theory’ on how SA3 would work in ideal situations, you’d probably need a Frankie3s Alex playing equivilant to ever see something like that. But yeah just thinking out loud… thoughts?
