Don’t know if it has been talked before here, but just discovered that Strong/Fierce Flash Chop can be directly cancelled into Hyper Bomb like in KoF-style isntead of waiting it to finish to do the SAI. Not very useful, though.
As far as follow-ups for a fierce Flash Chop… eh, sleeper does a fairly good amount of stun damage, at least. I remember to keep a back charge just in case I somehow get a random strong/fierce Flash Chop (i.e., someone dashes into it). I’ve seen Ty do EX Slash Elbow if that’s the case. Close your distance, get closer to the corner, etc.
And yeah, strong/fierce Flash Chop directly into Hyper Bomb… easy execution, since all you have to do is input the Flash Chop and then mash buttons while rotating the stick.
problem with sleeper is you cant control when they come out of it, similar problem to urien ex aegis of neut grab combos, i just use power bomb or MP ex knee if i want brownie points.
You can cancel the mp/hp Flash Chop into any super, not very useful with SA1 since they can just block and they can’t be grabbed out of blockstun; and I’m not sure if them parrying the Flash Chop makes them unable to jump out of the supercancelled SA1.
you can jump after parrying it.
its actually not TOO bad of an idea to cancel flash chop into SA1 (for some terrible reason if you’re using it) for the same reason people will cancel into super/shoryu if they see you parry a c.MK with ken. people will just hit a button after they see the parry.
Maybe you should re-write that alex book and show some little bit of respect. I think the big problem with most Alex players is this…where’s your sense of originality? Yes, Alex’s EX moves are great, but has ANYONE ever seriously considered working on trying to make your own style, rather than just pretending to think you’re KSK or Kinosuke? I know the game’s been out for years and there’s gotta be at least SOMEONE that can agree with my statement. That youtube vid…I find that to be a COPOUT because of this…Anyone can set that up in training mode and if they’re a good Yun player. Give a more than valid excuse than that BS vid and the obvious reasons of it being a short meter and somewhat “innacurate” and I just MIGHT back off this issue.
A more than valid excuse? How about a few reasons?
There’s no real way to verify it outside of strong/fierce Flash Chop (which you’re really only gonna land on a good opponent that’s stunned). You burn it, and you lose out on your other options such as EX. Alex REQUIRES that he have as many options as possible since his set is so limited (Boomerang means I can burn one or two EX moves… or if I burn super, I still potentially have an EX meter).
No way to really verify it, you burn all your meter, and tons of stuff can beat it (you don’t need to be a good Yun to beat it, since anyone can jab it and some can dash out of it).
I love how moron after moron comes on here saying that since a super isn’t used, it must mean nobody has even tried it. OH YOU ALEX PLAYERS ARE SO UNORIGINAL, ESPECIALLY RENIC!!
I love the first sentence but the rest of your essay just further proves his point.
QUIT BEING A NOOB OR JUST GET OFF THE INTERLIFE
didn’t read it.
Didn’t expect you to, Lenin.
Hey guys, how do you do Alex’s HCB grab on wake up?
It’s right at 1:51 in this video:

I’ve tried to do it, but it comes out slowly.
That’s just a normal throw getting teched, it looks a lot like the special grab.
But I fought against an Alex player, and he was able to throw me on wake up.
I apologize if this has been discussed to death in the thread, but I’ve haven’t been able to read through all the pages of this fantastic thread yet (I’m working on it, my Alex game really needs it ).
I was wondering if the combo [Jump in fierce -> Forward fierce-> Hyper Bomb] is actually applicable in real matches or if it requires insane amounts of preparation and luck to preform. It is shown in video (#2:35), and while I realize it is a combo video with a huge amount of prep (Taunt Damage, etc) going into it, I was wondering if it could be integrated into an actual viable gameplan - or if it is merely a pipe dream.
Thanks in advance!
Anything in a KYSG video is flat-out not going to happen in a match. After you build a giant bar and attempt that whenever you can, then land it maybe once in 50 matches, would you say you used meter efficiently during that time? Anything that requires you to significantly increase risk and reduce efficiency of meter isn’t going to be condoned by anyone good.
Ok, thanks.
Do you think there are many actual applicable and appropriate uses for fwd. Fierce’s grabbable hit stun? (Hell, Is it even the same grabbable hitstun that is on the Strong/Fierce flash chops?)
I didn’t even know fwd. fierce had that property until seeing that video, so I guess was sort of excited and wondered about the possibilities.
Thanks again.
It is the same type of throwable hitstun as the flash chops. 3S has a special rule in that backturned position is the only kind of hitstun that’s throwable. There’s no other use for it in Alex’s case though. SA1 is the only grab he has with short enough startup and long enough range to make that combo possible. And I would imagine it’s a one-frame link (meaning it’s just barely possible), because recreating it was difficult, for me least, years ago when that video came out.
Alex already has a hard enough time making ends meet against top tiers and such, so I wouldn’t spend too much time on the once-in-a-blue-moon scenarios.
Thanks a lot for answering my goofy Alex questions, Gaijinblaze.
You rock.
Some Alex questions:
I’m a pretty decent Alex player, but my game suffers when I’m facing very aggressive opponents that get me in the corner. Of course, I try to do the Stomp, but they jump as soon as I do it and attack. The only other thing Alex can is either cr LP or LK on wakeup. Is there any other kind of strategy to get out of the corner?
What are some good setups for the DDT and the Kara Throw?
I find the DDT pretty useless…
Although it’s a pretty funny mixup on someone who is conditioned to st.FP/b.FP on wakeup. It tends to work better when you let out a big “RRRRRR” as well.
