I’m afraid I don’t know the exact frame data but I tend to get nailed by reversal SRK when I go for a follow up jab.
It honestly depends on what character you’re facing and their tendencies along with the player too as everyone plays different. Along with matchup knowledge, I’m all for abusing players that don’t know the matchup.
If it’s someone that likes their throws, you can Tornado Throw or tech.
If it’s someone that likes to down-back then you can go for a crouching light into Abel’s overhead. If it gets you a counter hit you can link Step Kick to continue pressure and even combo (Character-Specific). You can also grab them or do a TT.
If they like to backdash (Rose, Chun, Ibuki). Simply OS a dash off your crouching jabs, or even OS U2 if you have it (It covers three options, that are backdashes, neutral jump and even a backjump.
You could go for a grab like I mentioned previously and if they neutral jump you can recover and simply hit them with a close standing fierce which will put them into a mixup if you roll. This will trade against some characters though but Abel has the health to take it.
There are more options, I’ll go into the lab and test for you. Expect an Edit soon!
EDIT
Right, the first hit is completely safe on block so no worries there unless you have no health left.
Another couple of options for you would be to go straight into Abel’s overhead and if it’s blocked you can simply walk forward a tiny bit and do a light Tornado Throw OR do a Kara Tornado Throw (There is a video on it at the top of the page so be sure to check it out if you haven’t already).
If it’s a SRK happy opponent or they’re going for the chip shoryu you can simply roll afterwards and punish them as they land. OR if you’re really gutsy and sure they’ll do it, do EX Falling Sky and snatch them out of the sky! Some Shoryu’s beat it though.
You can also go for a tick grab/Tornado Throw.
Another one is to just simply contiue pressure with frame traps like crouching jab into crouching strong or Step Kick.
There are so many options, pick the best one based on the opponent and don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t work out!
Hope this helps!
