also, to people reading about the MCM gatherings, don’t take what I said negatively.
I’ve talked to D already today and we’re on the same page about stuff. with the current pricing you are still getting the best amount of gaming & live comp per dollar. it’s not like you have to go, either. there’s always staying at home and playing lagboxlive.
i may or may not come to mcm after work this saturday. i could easily bring my 360 with 2 sticks though.
I’ll be going to all of these once I get my stick (thursday). Look forward to meeting the people I’ve seen posting.

10 bucks might seem steep but remember you are meeting in a private place with a ton of room and (hopefully) there will be a lot of people there. Sorry I don’t know anyone here who’s ballin or patient enough to have that many people over on a weekly or biweekly or whatever it’s gonna be basis. Plus that’s like 6-7 hours of game time which is good. Compare that to going to a movie for 10 bucks or how much time that will buy you at a lan center… not much. Also keep in mind what the money is going for. That amount is a real bargain. Of course there is always the option to have your own gathering or just stay at home but that’s your decision. If you think you can get a better deal than what he has with MCM then do it.
Also, Tactics is going through the trouble to set this up… if you feel that there should be a tournament there as well then what is stopping you from running one? It shouldn’t fall on Tactics to handle that as well.
If the end result is several systems, joysticks and lagless hd monitors to play on, 10 dollars is not much. Bringing all that crap out is a pain.

glad to see everyones excited about this… I’ll just say that we’re trying to really offset the costs of all the furniture we’ve bought, utilities, maintenance, cleaning up, employees to have monitoring this…
I know $10 is a decent chunk of cash but if you’re considering the fact that you’re playing at a comfortable place for over 6 hours… shoot, that’s pretty solid… it’s a nice place… ample parking, good temperatures downstairs, close to the highway… and really, it’s about the scene… we’re trying to make it so that people in the midwest get better… and are more competitive… and have just a great place to hang out and play the games they really love.
I’ll have a setup to bring out, I just have to test my smaller tv for lag.

Games we’ll be playing: I want to make this a mainly Tekken gathering as a refresher before Tekken 6 comes out. However if there isn’t much interest in that, then the house has more than enough space to accommodate setups for SF4, BB, or thing else (MBAA perhaps?)
I have 1 LCD HDTV and 2 crtv’s. We would need at least 1 full setup, and 1 more ps3. anymore than that is fine. If any1 can bring a ps2 copy of anniversary edition that would make me really happy!

Id like to add that the hours for the gathering are pretty definite(5-midnight).
Also these(gatherings) are going to be sort of Bi-weekly, in between the gatherings will be one week for TEAM tournament and the next for singles. The team tournaments should run pretty quickly so that should free up some time for casuals or for SIDE tournaments if people are interested in running them! So from now on things are going to be consistent provided there is NO MAJOR tournaments running. Ill have Jim post the info to the OP so everyone can just check the dates whenever they want. So there you go Chicago we have a way to progress together, I hope to see plenty of you guys around!

I’m having a gathering at my place on Friday… err later today… lol
Probably going from like 3PM at the earliest, I doubt anyone will be there that early but I might have it until like Midnight or something not sure. I guess with the people there we can see what time is best to end it. I am just giving rough estimates.
S I have TVs, all I really need are Systems for you guys to bring.
Basically we can do anything from Street fighter 4, Blazblue, if the locals show up we can always do 2 and MvC since they like playing those a lot. lol

October 3rd(Saturday) - Gathering
Times: 5:00 P.M. - 12:00 A.M.(hard close, everyone has to leave exactly at Midnight)
Fees: $10 , $7 if you bring Next Gen System, $5 if you bring a Monitor and Next Gen System ; Also id like to add for people to make sure they have their characters unlocked and so on. Bringing a system that is not going to be put to use is of no use to us!
Rules: Please act responsible and as mature as possible, treat the place as if you lived there! If you cause trouble or get in a fight DO NOT be suprised if you are kicked off the site and banned. I am not here to babysit anyone so please show some respect.

October 10th(Saturday) - Team Tournaments
Times: Registrations start at 11:30 AM, Tournaments Scheduled to start at 1:00 PM PROMPTLY! NO TARDINESS WHATSOEVER! If you can’t make it in time please have a friend register you! In case you get registered and the tournament already started and your names called will mean straight to LOSERS bracket.
Times are tentative as we are starting the next tournament RIGHT after one is over. There will be a 10 Minute break in between tournaments to let people use bathroom / get some air. I will call out last minute registrations for each game tournament 30 minutes before they start!
1:00 PM - Street Fighter 4 2vs2
2:30 PM - Melty Blood(ran by Emptyshiki)
3:30 PM - Blaz Blue 2v2
4:30 PM - MvC2 Singles
5:00 PM - Street Fighter 4 Singles
8:00 PM - Street Fighter 4 3vs3
Format will be PS3 as its the standard for Tournaments with the exception of MvC2 which is going to be on Dreamcast.
We WILL need for people to bring MONITORS,PS3s w/cables(we have 4 total right now I NEED at least 4 more!) and GAME DISCS. Tube TVS are best, but if you have an EVO monitor or of equal caliber then please bring! We will lag test every lcd you bring! PLEASE IF YOU ARE BRINGING a monitor be at the site before 12:00 PM(Noon) in order for us to properly setup. Bringing a TV and/or PS3 WILL lower your Venue FEE to $7, bringing both a TV and PS3 will lower your Venue fee to $5 as well! ANY SYSTEMS BROUGHT WILL NEED CHARACTERS UNLOCKED IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE DISCOUNTED VENUE PRICE!!!NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
We are aiming at having 6 Monitors/tvs running the tournament at full speed. Anything after that(targeting 4 monitors/tvs) will be put into the CASUAL ROOM where people will be able to stay warm and have something to do while tournaments are running(Just don’t miss your call!). If you are coming please bring extra systems for the CASUAL ROOM. The covered tournament fees are coming out of my pocket so don’t stress it.

70/30 will be the split for team tournaments, SF4 Singles and MvC2. Working on getting special prizes for 3rd and 4th place.

Rules/Format: Singles Tournaments are 2/3 matches and best of 3 rounds for every match. Semi Finals are 3/5 matches and FINALS being 4/7. Team tournaments are going be standard team tournament style where the winner stays on machine untill the team has no players left, Grand / Winner/ Loser bracket finals will be 2 out of 3 victories! ALL tournaments are Double Elimination. All STANDARD RULES apply here, no foul play will be tolerated! NO BUTTON MAPPING ALLOWED(unless opponent agrees to your maps), Winner Keeps SAME Characters while loser can change characters for MvC2. You MUST use 1 CHARACTER for the ENTIRE TEAM TOURNAMENT that you join. Teams can have multiple characters of the same due to this being local and alot of people playing the same character. NO DUMB GLITCHES please! Accidental pauses are treated as a LOSS, WIRELESS is banned(due to me seeing accidental tournament pauses in every tournament Ive been too recently), feedback appreciated on this one! WIRELESS IS BANNED!! Sorry for inconveniences but having tournament matches being paused by someones wireless pad accidentally syncing is NOT going to happen here! Also no COMPLAINING about someone using keymaps / binds if your match has already started, MAKE SURE you are clear before you chose your characters. Once a match is started, you therefore abide to your opponents binds if any. No unlimited characters in BlazBlue!
So there you have it folks, hope to see you there!! Please support and keep in mind that this is the first of many. Most Funds / Profits made from these are going right back into the tournaments (we will eventually get ALL EVO monitors for these and much much much more!)

Things have been cleared up, talked to Rob today(was a huge misunderstanding). Events will continue at MCM place and something like this will never ever happen again, i apologize for the troubles I may have caused to anyone.
