The Castlevania Thread

Again fuck you nigga.

Eat a dick, you fucking douche bag.

That can’t be Alucard, he has a reflection in the sword at the end of the trailer.

It’s Galamoth.

Galamoth would be dope as hell.

Anti-Profanity Patrol is amusing.

Hector

Dear The Anti Profanity Patrol, please don’t quote the words "BULLSHIT and ā€œFUCKINGā€ when making posts, because it makes you the biggest fucking hypocrite I’ve ever seen on these forums.

I would love for Galamoth to to be Dracula Belmont’s final boss in LoS2. And props to Mercury Steam and Konami for letting this one be the last one in this little saga.

Really? I really like what Mercury Steam been doing with Lord of Shadows continuity. I want to see it flushed out more.

That is what I heard but let’s honestly wait until we get more news next week. I hope it’s not over like that after two games. Especially with all that future business.

Yea. I’d hate for the MS Castlevania to end so soon.

From the E3 thread, here’s the Mirror of Fate trailer

Gameplay is looking like Lords of Shadow on a 2D plane. That’s an interesting direction to take it if that’s the case. The story looking interesting too. Seems Trevor became Simon’s dad

wow, so…the dude in the LoS2 trailer is Trevor Belmont then? Is this before LoS2? If so, then I guess at the end of this game he gets turned into a vampire or at some point during LoS 2. Simon then grows up and takes on the family job to find his dad then?

I hope Marie still gets to keep her magic, in this telling of the story.

Reminds me of the Rondo of Blood remake on the PSP but with Lords of Shadow styling. Another game that makes me want to consider the 3DS.

First thing I thought when watching that LoS2 trailer was battle of helms deep. Also, glad to see they still decided to ditch Castlevania’s 23+ year unique music style. I’ll buy the game when it hits the bargain bin 2 months after it comes out.

Synth guitars weren’t a staple of Castlevania’s music until Dracula X, where they quickly grew and infected the rest of the formerly really good tracks like a virus.

Are you talking about Dracula X (SNES)?

Because that game had an awesome soundtrack. Some of the tracks in my opinion are better than the Rondo versions. Still, it’s not just Lords of Shadow doing this music style. All games coming out these days have that Hollywood movie style orchestrated music. What happened to these people using their imaginations and coming up with catchy and memorable tunes for video games? Now it all just sounds the same.

What happened to stuff like this?

I’m talking about the PCE one, which started the trend. SNES Dracula X is a tad underrated on all counts.

On movie-esque music: I get the sentiment about wanting game music to have that, I dunno, game-y quality. Most of my iPhone music library is synthy video game music from eras past. But ā€œmovie musicā€ isn’t all the same, neither in movies nor in games that feature them. There’s a huge style difference between, say, a James Horner soundtrack and a Danny Elfman soundtrack, and there’s a huge style difference between Lords of Shadows music and something like Medal of Honor.

Where I felt Lords of Shadow faltered was in music variety. It played very similar background themes in most areas. I wanted something more mechanical sounding in the Clockwork Tower, something more dire in the Valley of Death, etc.

A hands-on of Mirrors of Fate.
