The Castlevania Thread

Nah you were showing me the sword, because I asked but then everyone else used it lol.

I remember your love with the dumb bitch who could do dumb bitch things all the time. Oh, I picked up Simon and Gura or whatever from that one game to try out.

Simon strong as fuk.
Him and Richter are the best whip users, not counting Soma.

Dumb bitch!?

Damn skippy.

They added Maria and some other Witch chick you might like. Has anyone tried the DLC levels? are they worth the steep asking price? I think two of them were 400 MS.

I have all the dlc.
All the levels are pretty great, Characters are worth it too.

They are more difficult with better loot, but if you like to grind for them it’s good. If you hate grinding (the stages are also longer than the normal ones too) probably not worth it.

If I knew where you lived I’d leave a 16 inch unbroken turd on your doorstep.

<3

At least it was better than Call of Duty.

We can all agree on this.

I literally almost brought that up but I was like ā€œNahā€¦ā€

Did we share… a moment?

Konami treats Castlevania better than I seen any company treat a series. To my understanding, Castlevania had never been a huge seller. I’m impressed that Konami has stuck with the franchise as long as it did.

oh sweet ayo so i dont have to use jomo anymore and can use simon

Now that CoM is out of the way.

Playing Harmony of Dissonance for the first time. Don’t see what all the hate is about. Sure the walk feels weird, but that’s about it (so far).

Loving that one button dash.

Besides the classics, that’s my favorite. It’s pretty much as close to the classics as you can get using the Metroid formula. Even quite a bit of a challenge if you do a no armor, no spells, no weapon upgrades play through. I just wish the palette was better.

Figured I’d throw this up here, for those of you that like the old school CV’s, I’m working on improving my World Record speedrun of CV: Bloodlines (John Morris Expert Mode). I stream pretty regularly on twitch, so if you are into speedruns or just watching playthru’s of old CV’s feel free to drop in sometime if im streaming. http://www.twitch.tv/klaige

Bloodlines is the mostly forgotten old style CV on the genesis, but it’s still a solid entry. It’s also a royal bitch to speedrun, so if you enjoy watching trainwrecks and rage you’ll probably get a kick out of my stream as well.

If you want to see true old school CV runs then be sure to check out Funkdoc’s stream as well. He’s currently working improving his Sypha route for CV3, and may be improving Alucard in the future as well. You’ll find his stream here: http://www.twitch.tv/srkfunkdoc

So yea, if ya’ll are bored or just wanna bullshit about classic CV’s be sure to drop in.

yo. huge castlevania fan here.

are there fans that enjoy both the newer metrovania titles as well as the older ones? I started with the newer games and went backwards, loving the series as a whole for the most part. there aren’t many games in the series I completly dislike, save a few, like the one on the n64, what little I played, I just couldn’t get into. I even liked the wii fighitng game, it was very well done for something so experimental, despite some design ssues (like how the game played better on a gamecube controller then a wii remote, the grinding necessary for unlocking content, and the balance issues.) I was pretty upset with the games poor reception, but it was ot completley undeserved.

some of my favs are castlevania chronicles on ps1 and castlevania legends: rebirth on the wii, and…both ps2 games I guess (I think they don’t sit well with many castlevania fans right? I still dig em.).

in terms of the classic styled games I wasn’t too taken with rondo of blood compared to the other two classic titles I mentioned, but I did find it enjoyable. how would you guys rate the older castlevania games in comparison to each other? the only ones I didin’t play much of is 3 and bloodlines, though what little of bloodlines I did play was really awesome.

any fans of the n64 games? I’ve seen some on the web and wondered about the appeal of that game.

I’m in the camp that’s not very excited for a new LOS, and I’ll leave it at that.

Outside of two of the exploration titles I much prefer the classic games, but to each their own.

I’m pretty sure there is ratings in previous pages for specific titles as well.

I Gotta agree HoD actually feels like one of the old games.
In terms of sub weapon placement, monsters actually being a hindrance, the scarcity of items & bosses every 10 minutes.

Oh and the room events were a really nice touch. Why did they take those out?
The palette is definitely a problem, thankfully they got it right in the later releases.

ayo im when you want to play hod I’m in,I enjoyed the game but finding randoms that sucked killed the exp for me fairly quickly.

i’m down for HoD almost anytime.
