tbh honest the only castlevania I played aside from sotn was Portrait and the original nintendo back in the day. I just loved back-dashing all day in sotn. Still do speed runs on it every once and a while. Are there any other games similar to sotn?
Every Castlevania after SoTN minus LoS and that fighting game.
I beat DOS a few months ago really amazing game one of the best CVās for sure. Iām thinking of skipping POR and getting OOC because it sounds stupid to buy 3 CVās for DS which Iāll only play once plus Iāve read POR is the worst of the 3 though Iām sure itās still good.
PoR is the best of the 3 imo.
OoE was great
and I found DoS to be the worse.
I liked OOE more than POR, because it was more challenging (though the game has gamebreakers like every other metroidvania). Shanoa just feels more fun to play than Jonathan and Charlotte imo becuase she can spam her left and right hand attacks as long as she has mp (which regenerates fast). I also found Albus mode more fun to play than Sisters, Richter, and Axe Armor. Just because Albus has the Feilong flame kick and teleports. I think length wise POR might be the longest because to get the good ending you unlock some more portraits to go through. They both have a hard mode to go through after you beat the game though.

Nope back in my day WE MADE COMMITMENTS
You hit dat jump button or whip button it are like a damn wedding ring YOU MARRYIN THAT JUMP
You guys ever play that fan-made CVIII remake with the Simon sprite ripped from SOTN? That game is pretty cool. I need to see if I still have it somewhere.
PoR is the weakest of the DS games, but it is still fucking awesome. Unlike HoD for GBA which is the worst of the GBA games, but is also a shitty game.
I know the guy that made that CVIII remake game. Unfortunately it wonāt be finished unless he finds a new coder for it.
anyone ever play those gameboy castlevaina games?

WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE.
And yes I own the cart to the first gb Castlevania. Reminds me of all those hidden rooms and such. Plus a hadoken whip powerup.
Yeah, Iāve played the first game. Pretty tough game, but I beat it. Not better than the NES Castlevanias, though.
The gameboy games are nifty in that at least in the second one, if you whip all the candles in i think the first stage the screen goes dark
I loved the gameboy games but absolutely couldnāt stand the slow ass walking speed.
Once a rom hack came out that brought it up to normal NES CV walking speed, I never went back.
Speaking of which in Circle of the Moon, would everyone rather just have your walking speed be run? Or do you feel the dash was useful as a mechanic, because I was just doubletappin all over tha place.
Itās kind of a false choice, really. Thereās no real downside to dashing everywhere in COTM, only benefits. So thereās really no reason ever to walk. A surprising number of games do this with walking/running, for some reason.
wonder why they chose a whip to be the main weapon? I guess stabbing things with a wooden stake would be too violent
Itās unique. Thatās my only guess because since then weāve gotten every weapon under the sun to vanquish Dracula.
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but⦠This guy is on point.
No youāre not.
