What I love about the Castlevania storylines is they remind me of the old Christopher Lee Dracula flicks. Angry Satan worshipers/evil cultist/angsty teenagers/greedy power seekers revive the motherfucking prince of darkness with human sacrifice or a black mass. Dracula of course just wants to go around being a bad mofoing pimp doing his thing so he just basically kills those who revive him by looking at them sternly and having their heads explode or something. Van Helsing or a stand in must hunt him down and kill him but of course Dracula will always kill a bunch of people and ravish some harlots first before being killed in an awesome (impaled with a plank of wood) or stupid (encased in ice) way . I used to love Hammer Horror films when I was a kid so Castlevania brings me a sense of nostalgia.
Cool article. Apparently GameSpy (and The Magic Box who got their info from GameSpy) canât read through since they both call her âShinoaâ when the official screenshot of the game calls her âShanoaâ. 
I donât mean that in the literal sense. All games have some of basic âplotâ. But when you really look at it, alot of games have the simplest storyline ever, and yet they are just as epic, as whatever high budget/hyped game out at the time.
You have your Marios, and what not. Those games donât hold a candle to a plotline like CVâs.
Slothdude was trying to diss CVâ's plot, like that was the single most important apsect of the game, totally dismissing the gameplay, and in some cases, stunning visuals CV has.
But yea, you know. I agree.
I only hope we can attack itâs weak point for MASSIVE damage.
Hereâs an idea. How about we donât judge games when we donât know jack shit about them? Think about it.

I read âCastlevaniaâ and âplotâ and I :lol:'d because thatâs not what you look for in these kinda games. I mainly only play RPGs and even I know that.
Do you play Pac-Man for plot? No, you just go around eating pellets and shit. Same thing with CV. You go through the game to wreck Draculaâs shit and go home. Like Shade said, story in these kinda games are just bonuses.
and just for the record Iâll probably start with SOTN or the first few NES games.

You have a really bad way of reinforcing your arguments without resorting to âfanboyâ insults. I started out on the DS castlevaniaâs and I went back to play the SOTN recently when it came out on the PSP and I thought it was pretty damn good. Probably better than the ones on the DS even.
It just seems that your arguments are so baseless and youâre so quick to throw out âoh youâre just nostalgic so you donât like anything elseâ. You sound like the kind of guy that hates something just because everybody else likes it, but whatever.
Itâs OKAY to not like SOTN. The reason why you get such hostility with your comments is because contradictions of your statements. You say that the handhelds are better when theyâre basically the same deal. Bad VA, âcheeseyâ or non existant plot are part of ALL the castlevaniaâs post-SOTN. SOTN may not be your cup of tea, but it is by no means a bad game.
And arguing with a mod isnât smart either.
