In fact the only RPG I had played for a good portion of my life was Chrono Trigger, but my friend said the old FF’s were good, so he got me to play FF4 (which I loved), and now I’m playing 6 (which is totally going to end up as my favorite rpg ever).
SotN is a pre-requisite to Castlevania fandom. The original Castlevania’s should of course be played as well (especially IV), but SotN did so much more for the series then the original style did. Realistically speaking, the older style needed some tweaking (much of the difficulty came from the restricted controls your character had, such as their jumping), and SotN did that.
Difficulty does not take away from a game experience at all.
Go read a fucking book if you want plot.
You can’t even justify your reasoning as to why this game is “bad”. The game still stands the test of time, but sadly your IQ doesn’t. Try harder next time.
Anyway, the new CV looks damn good. I should probably take my DS to work with me tomorrow and rape Portrait of Ruin some more.
simons quest? ahahahha simons quest? that game was a piece of shit. the only good thing about it was the music. Which was very odd, and hillarious to me, because the music was way above average (its where Bloody Tears debuted) and the gameplay was way below average. If there has to be any prerequisites it has to be Castlevania 1 on NES.
QFT. Seriously, what an EPIC timeline. Especially with all of the potential branches they can make. Belmonts never die and there’s ALWAYS someone willing to help. I think a Castlevania timeline thread would be alot harder to follow than a megaman timeline. hints to others more familiar with the timeline.
Good plot. Can’t wait for the movie… (please don’t be a Uwe Boll event.)
cv2 is the fucking shit. but i will admit, you kinda gotta know what your doing in order to play. since the game fails on so many levels on telling you what to do with the crystals. i never owned a cv2 guide when i was a child, so i dont even remember how i figured the game out. but regardless, figure the game out, and i think its a great game.
They don’t need plots, but they can help in producing gameplay ideas. An instructor once told me that “story drives design,” and I’m inclined to agree. It doesn’t mean the story has to be good, but it can definitely aid you while brainstorming for gameplay ideas.
