Yea the PC versions are at 60fps, and can be forced into higher resolutions as well. I dunno if there is any modding or anything tho.
Not that I recall.
60 fps is reason enough. Game is WAY better. Once you go 60 fps, you never go back.
Bought it. Will play through the first game before I start LoS2. Never played the DLC stages before.
LoS2 isnât worth the bandwidth it will take for you to download it.
In other news, in case any of you havenât heard, David Cox has left Konami. Good riddance to an arrogant prick.
Yeah if youâre serious about wanting to play it, Iâd get it now. Itâs definitely not worth MORE than $20 unfortunately.
I wanna get LoS2 cuz of this vid. cuz I like the gameâs dodge/evade mechanics.
p.s.
cuz of copyright issuesâŚthe uploader/player of this runthrough used Nightshadeâs music.
I canât find the yeti in Tymeo Mountains anymore since I killed him, =/.
I completed Mirror of Fate. After playing in 14 hours into it I thought it was an ok game. The high point for this game for me is playing as Simon. This act is the most interesting and challenging of the three. He had the most useful magic abilities and subweapon were most fun to use. By the time I was halfway through Alucardâs act the game started to wear thin. When it got to Trevor the game has overstayed itâs welcome and I wanted to be done with it already. This wouldnât have been use of an issue if the three characters played differently. Making them identical sans magic and subweapons made having more than one character pointless. I think it would have been better if they cut Gabrielâs tutorial act altogether. Have Trevorâs act serve as the prologue and have his battle with Dracula serve as a flashback in Alucardâs act before he teams with Simon.
The platforming is underwelming. While I would put it above the IGA castlevanias where itâs absolute shit or in some cases nonexistent. Platforming is so easy. Reaching platforms is easy. Thereâs isnât much stuff that gets in the way or having to figure out how to reach a platform. I can think of a few places that how I used a few medusas heads or a mastery of your skills to get around to make the platforming so better that wasnât utilized. I would have accepted leap of faith to keep the platforming from being boring.
As I mentioned before, I donât feel that LoS combat is a good fit for 2D. Having a single plane made combat far easier as it made reading enemy movement a breeze and there were three at most on screen at a time. Enemies being damage sponges are more annoying than challenging.
Exploration sucks. The locations for secrets were obvious as hell and some of the rewards didnât feel worth it to me. Going to backtrack just to get a scroll or an entry to the bestiary wasnât worth it to me. Alternate routes and teleporters were few here too. Having to go the long way to backtrack was a huge pain.
It was an ok game. I donât think Iâll replay this one any time soon.
Started LoS2 after replaying LoS (last DLC stage left undone). Iâve had a couple of the rat/sneak events and recovered the void/chaos weapons.
My biggest complaint is how rat mode isnât integrated well. You literally find a shadow corner to change into rat mode. Gameplay wise it is just an annoying step. I see a spot to use rat mode and now I can have to locate a shadow somewhere. Annoying for me.
Agreed. I thought the game looked and sounded great, but the most disappointing part was that all three characters played relatively similarly. I thought it would have been interesting to have Simon be a rather basic vampire hunter seeing as how heâs young and still learning, have Alucard do what he does more along the lines of SoTN, and then have Trevor be a more stylized vampire hunter who has more moves and does more damage.
I also agree about the LoS combat not entirely working in 2D. It wasnât bad, but it wasnât amazing either. Overall I enjoyed the game for what it was, but I think it falls into the once-is-enough category.
Los2 story made me facepalm but other than that the combat was fun (coming from a dmc3 vet thatâs saying something) mirror of fate was good. I personally love the Dracula fight with Trevor. False difficulty aside the game is solid.
False difficulty? explain that term. cuz its sounds like my artificial difficulty a whole lot.
as for LoSâŚthat gameâs devs def trolled everyone with artificial difficulty. The game sets out for you to die in the silliest of ways.
right now I keep dying after the fight with âŚhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. damn. I was gonna spoiler but, found it [details=Spoiler]Pan[/details] and I had to turn the game off before I get any more upset lol.
Remind me not to buy a game that requires platforming in a 3D game that has a fixed camera lmao.
Naw, cuz I meanâŚtsk, like, I jump to the ledge, and damnit if it isnât mindfucking me right now where I have to jump. Iâve hit every button on my controller but I donât know where I have to jump or how to even get off the ledge. its buggin me out.
Iâm talking about the ledge on the cliff right at the beginning of the chapter where you have to sprint, double jump across a casm to catch the ledge. when I head left it crumbles and falls. I feel like after shimmying left Iâm supposed to jump across to what appears to be a foothold but my man Gabe isnât recognizing anything up down left right. So he refuses to jump. I even hit the grapple but nope.
maybe Iâm supposed to grapple after he falls?
fuck it.
Time for youtube video cuz Iâm not spending anymore time on this.
I have mixed feelings about LOS.
Part of me hates it for its flaws while another enjoys it a lot.
I feel like a battered housewife thatâs in love with her abuser lol.
The boss fight with Pan is easy. Heâs free to parries.
no. Iâm talking about the ledge on the cliff after the Pan fight thatâs killing me.
ledge>Pan
ledge too OP.
False difficulty for my meaning would be you die in like 5 hits sometimes but thereâs health refills all over the place. Itâs there but not really just my opinion
its this damn ledge at the very beginning of the video.
chapter 10-3
1:03 mark. I see a bunch of people complaining saying they keep dying/falling because it glitches. Son of a bitch refuses to jump across from the ledge to the foothold because he doesnât wanna recognize the jump.
maybe I need to do it fast enough
There are a few platforms in that game that are like that. You have it hit it just right or he wonât catch it.
IMO Los1 is the best of the trilogy. I love that game. Great levels, great graphics, I enjoyed the combat. Itâs too bad with all the possibilities of MoF and LoS2 that they couldnât match what theyâd created in LoS1.
oh I love the games story and atmosphere. The platforming was good but not like Tomb Raider/Prince of Persia goodâŚbut satisfying enough.
the puzzles I freaking adored though! the music box and the color=movement one comes to mind.
the combatâŚmeh. I already explained what I thought of it in the pc thread.
Iâm gonna like LoS2 a lot due to the much improved combat but I already know its story & atmosphere is shit.
like, why did the devs decide to set the protagonist in a modern city is what I cant figure out.
The Middle Ages looks and feels so much better. Its a decision I cant understand. It just kills the atmosphere which is huge for Castlevania.
Everyone equates Castlevania as gothic in tone.
Anybody know why the devs did this?
To follow up on the twist ending of the first game.
