The Boxing Thread

@CUTWEST do you box? No intention behind the question just wondering if you do or have before. If so what gym?

That looks scarily similar to my gym. Do they have a website? Im always interested in different gyms :3

Does your coach/gym favor a more defensive style? Mine is definitely more offense oriented.

Goddamn, Canelo put it on Kirkland with that one. I gotta get my VPn back up and running again.

Mundine vs. Trout postponed.

Mundine had some weird ear condition due to altitude or something flying over.

I’m looking forward to Mundine vs. Trout, it will be an oldschool war because that’s just how Mundine boxes. He’s tough as nails, likes to hit, not think. Very old school boxer, fights like a much heavier boxer as well. Trout on the other hand, Trout’s only lost twice, both times on points. Definitely the favourite, he’s a very strong fighter, potential match for Mayweather as they’re in close weight classes.

I tried to watch the replay but I was too late and only saw the KO sigh.

My two cents on the whole defensive boxing/running and all that is basically everyone has their own style they develop. granted technical boxing typically wins out because of the amount of skill required to be a good technical boxer. Brawler/puncher types are a different breed, some just gravitate to that style, that doesn’t make them any less of a boxer. I don’t think anyone can really become a great technical boxer, because it may not fit their fighting style. Using Mayweather as an example when it comes to boxing is kind of a no brainer. Dude is legit a technical master and is in a class all his own. He is what text book/technical boxing looks like.

Honestly I forgot my point. Too much stuff to read through.

Anyway, here is this weeks boxing schedule.

Should be interesting seeing Anthony Joshua fight Kevin Johnson. Joshua is a big as nigga though.

What a girl post. You can not talk like this and look down inbetween your legs with out any shame anymore. This sport is not a game, it’s a fight type of sport. When you are learning boxing are you doing this for the sake of looking pretty or are you doing this so that when a situation comes where some asshole is tryng to fight you, you can beat the shit out of him out of self defense? Boxing has always been punching the other person till he looses. How can any man want some beautiful looking dancing over brawls? Surviving and kicking your opponents ass during a slugfest (which is really just boxing, not a slugfest) takes allot of talent because how the hell are you going beat his ass or outbox him with out knowing how to box? Only real men know this.
You have shown the dangerous situation we are all in right now, now boxing has to be played like a nice game and not like it was when it was pure boxing. You’ve just given a girls opinion. You are disgusting.

Not sure. I’ll be sure to ask him everything you’ve stated when I go in on Monday.

@advocateofgreat

Yet you only wanna considerate on 20% of my post and ignore the other 60%? If mines is a girl post then yours is a bitch post.

And why are you (Another man) so concentrated on my (Another mans) junk and manhood so goddamn much? I’m starting to think you’re an undercover down low suspect. Sorry, I don’t swing that way brah. Why don’t you take 2 hot steps away from my buttcrack already. =/

Isn’t the object of a game is to win? You’ve contradicted yourself with that one.

Neither. I box because I LOVE and I am PASSIONATE about the sport and everything it entails. Self-defense and looking pretty are benefit bonuses.

Wrong, that’s just ONE of the reasons. Not the MAIN one. Boxing is about out smarting your opponent. Can’t punch the other person if that said person doesn’t allow you to do that to him. He’s not just gonna sit steal and let you punch him. (Well some do like Brandon Rios since that’s their flat footed punching bag style) But a smart boxer like Floyd and Lara will NEVER allow that. You gotta WORK for your victory. Not just swing for the fences and hope you get lucky. This is chess. Not checkers.

A smart man that wants to live out the rest of his life NORMAL when he RETIRES from the sport so he doesn’t end up punch drink with Parkinson’s disease, alzheimers, and any other disease that plaques boxers after they leave the sport because they were too stupid not the bob and weave, evade, and have their guard up from those shots that got them in that position in the first place!

Again, that’s not boxing. Just a slugfest. And you say that takes a lot of skill? Really? You obviously don’t know shit about boxing.

No, only a dumbass that wants to end up like Muhammad Ali and Freddie Roach know this. =/

YEAH! Because the side effects of POST boxers careers are FUCKIN DISGUSTING! They don’t even remember their families and friends anymore…let alone their names! They need constant 24/7 care. They can’t even eat, drink, sleep, or shit on their own. Boxing NOW is trying to REDUCE that from what it was in the “old” outdated ways. And that’s always a GOOD thing. Boxing is a PROFESSIONAL sport. It’s CLASS! Brawling WHILST being unprofessional about it is NOT class and discredits EVERYTHING boxing stands for. Boxing has evolved. Either get with the times or shut your mouth and get the PHUKK OUT DA WHEY you old Viagra pill poppin Cialis crushed pill snortin bitch. It’s that simple.

And you’ve just given a dumbass opinion for someone who is WRONG and was too STUPID to even DARE speak on the sport of boxing to begin with, let alone to me. It’s people like you that are RUINING this sport. It’s beyond your comprehension. So congratulation. Here’s your #YDKSAB award. Now fuck off before you get straight educated to the point of embarrassment some more. =/

Jesus that guy got me fuckin heated up. This is me at my most PASSIONATE people!

I think you can be a smart brawler/puncher type of boxer. I think cats like Kirkland figured they can take the hits and keep goin, when in reality he would extend his boxing life if he didn’t just go in and take the punches. Boxing is chess and you can have a more “exciting” fight if you want by doing more setups to get the knock out. I think you can have exciting “brawls” with high level boxing. I mean Mayweather is one example, but being reserved to just winning by points is cool, but at the same time can prove frustrating even for boxing fans. Regardless how good Mayweather’s performance was against Pac, it still was a boring ass fight. yeah we can analyze how Floyd was in control the whole match, but really it wasn’t worth the whole “fight of the century” moniker and it most definitely wasn’t worth 100 bones. I feel that you can have the best of both worlds and it won’t make you any less of a boxer. Honestly watching kirkland get knocked out was kind of sad because it was such an uneven matchup, and I wasn’t surprised of the outcome.

canelo is a great boxer puncher. i hope he improves his footwork and cutting the ring off then hell truly be unstoppable imo

Not getting hit running away, jabbing all that. Well a boxer’s reach is a huge factor in what style you can play. If you are at a substantial reach disadvantage against most in your weight class then it would be very difficult to be an outboxer regardless of technical expertise and footwork.

Since Tyson was mentioned a few posts ago, imagine if he tried to fight like Floyd. Yeah it woudn’t work with that severe reach disadvantage he always had. At the same time his style was in its own way very technical as well as being very aggressive.

Tyson had no choice, but to bumrush and sway in.

Tyson his short power shots in quick fashion interspersed with jabs and crosses.

So I just watched the Canelo replay…

Damn ouch. Only missing is a decent foot work and he will be unstoppable.

LOL Mayweather said stop slow dancing, lol. Either way that is some intense ass sparring though. But fuck Ishe Smith, dude is boring as all hell and really not about that life. He talked the same mess in The Contender.

This is getting sad.

Who is saying Manny won though? I thought it was pretty clear he got outboxed that night. Anyone saying Manny won is just delusional at this point. Floyd was the better boxer and it showed.

…Manny himself LOL! Manny’s official facebook page posted that video.
