I agree even in neutral Manny was completely outmatched.
Aggression and intelligence aren’t mutually exclusive, Tyson sure as hell proved that. On the the other hand, it’s stupid to think a fighter who fights in within his comfort zone and body type should switch styles to prove himself to people who don’t give 2 shits about him or the sport.
Yeah Lights Out was such a good show and covered all the angles of the sports, esp. the shady sides; it was a shame it wasn’t renewed. The only thing that looked kind of eh was…
Spoiler
illegal fight between the boxer and the mma dude. Kind of questionable choreography but watevs.
Yeah the clinching being used as a weapon (and too much to add) is something to complain about. That is dirty. When you watch the fight again, the moment pacquiao managed to get in floyd’s defense and corner him with flurries, floyd clinched him which caused manny to reset his game over and over again. People think that Floyd still would have won regardless but that is hard to say because those clinches stopped manny once he got inside zone, which did happen allot of times in the match.
Don’t blame the player. Boxing refs treat boxers like children that don’t know what’s up. There is no reason why people with over 40 matches should get more than one warning about them breaking rules. For better or worse, clinching is not as against the rules as they make it out to be.
Cuz they havent lol. Most of the people who saw the fight know nothing about boxing lol. I hate to say it but that fight was horrible for the sport lol
Clinching too much is against the rules. Klitchko did get a point reduction in his fight for doing that and he did not do it as much as floyd did. I watched the fight 3 whole times and if you see my posts during the time it was live i clearly had mayweather outboxing him but rewatching it and just thinking about those clinchings just got me seriously upset about this sport. This is why UFC is so above boxing, it’s just every thing is completely fair game. I really can’t say anything about this fight anymore. It is so odd that all of the past opponents of mayweather were more aggressive than pacquiao was, pacquiao had a throw ratio below 500. I wanted to solve that mystery so from rewatching i saw that everytime pacquiao managed to get threw mayweathers barriers he was clinched. I won’t deny that evaded allot of it but there were times where mayweather had no where to go in the corner and he just clinched his way out.Honestly, i really dont think highly about this fight or floyd’s win anymore.
It’s not “too much,” it’s just against the rules in general. Boxers just know they have some leniency with it so they do it. In amateur like I used to do they always pull you over for it.
Floyd hugged Manny more than my Dad has ever hugged me. I think that’s poor form. Especially because the ref didn’t really do shit about it, whenever Manny got in and had him walking towards the ropes, he escaped the corner pressure by holding onto him and being separated. It’s different when you just get tangled with each other which can happen, when you’re intentionally doing it to get space you haven’t earned that’s cheap.
As much as I love Wlad for finishing his fights, he’s the worst when it comes to it, he goes past clinching them and throws them to the mat. Wlad attacks his opponents though, he’s not just stalling with it, he just does it because he’s a massive man and shorter opponents often get under his reach. Still cheap, to negate their advantage like that when you’ve been jabbing them from outside their range the whole fight but not as bad as turtling with it.
Donaire does some trips to get guys away from clinching with him. Guys clinch, he places his foot. Other guy goes down. Other guy keeps going for clinch donaire trips them. Also dude wrestled in high school.
Hell he even gets some sprawls in some matches when guys do that stupid rush in clinch.
