Gesta is giving this Molina guy some issues. Pretty interesting watching a switch hitter. Another guy from the Philippines following Manny’s aggression.
“The footage,” is non-existent for entire chunks of Peps career. Pep fought 300 guys. There were champs and highlights in there, but also a lot of trash opponents and some average fights like the ones he lost. I feel you’re just pick and choosing to suit your argument when the same stuff you’re saying could be said in reverse. I’m not saying Pep doesn’t deserve his legend status, I think he’s probably more of a legend than most guys people rate. I’m just saying there was some absolutely mind blowing footage and records from Locche, and I do box. I think it’s just typical the dismissal of Locche because it’s the same reason he’s underrated. Nothing to do with boxing, it’s because he didn’t speak English and wasn’t American.
If you want to argue the semantics of defence, Locche is the best “purely,” defensive fighter because that’s all he did. He won over a hundred fights without ever attacking. Defence might have be a lot of stuff, but you can argue he was that good he didn’t need all the tools. He defended against everyone without it. He never needed to counter hit hard, he never needed to bury his feet and put up a wall of jabs to stop someone coming in, they could come in all they want, they could swing all they wanted, they were not winning the fight. Hence lineal champ. He won fights without hitting back, he won fights with primary school, tap where you see space and think you’re punching the guy. No one else in the history of boxing has been world champion doing that. No one else in the history of boxing has straight clowned and trolled their opponents through a 136 fights and only 4 losses. The numbers speak for themselves.
how many of you have heard the infamous mayweather rude jude interview?
if you haven’t…

Never heard this til now. Funny but not surprising mayweathers always desired to be loved. He wants to be the peoples champ so bad, but he went about it the wrong way
I swear. Everytime i go to youtube my mind changes who i favor to win. For the last 2 weeks i was favoring floyd but reading the comments of his fans -who are stating that the 1st Pac/Bradley fight was close- changes my mind. But then there are the pac fans and their stupidity too…
Bradly Pac 1 was a slaughter. Anyone who thought that fight was even remotely close deserves to be shot. That was the biggest rip off ever. Im not even a huge Pac fan but that was just wrong.
nah money troll mayweather is gonna do his mariachi band again.
lol no boxing fan takes that fight seriously…you just use it to troll paq fans cause they are so easily riled up. as if mayweather shit on their grandmamas bed or sumtin.
Want to know what’s mind blowing about his highlight? His opponent telegraphs the same right over and over by planting his right foot and unloading from a wide angle, over and over. You’re apparently incapable of reading because I am not dismissing him. He is not the best defensive fighter of all time. It’s just that simple, and yeah there isn’t footage of all of Pep’s fights but he fought a higher caliber opponent and won. Willie Pep had 100 more fights, fought bigger names, the footage of Pep’s opposition has more sound boxers than any of Locche’s, and is better all time as a fighter. Locche was extremely good, a hall of fame guy. He had great defense, maybe top 5 defense but GREATEST DEFENSE OF ALL TIME
You claim to box but don’t realize defense is also something used while using an “offensive” skillset, or more specifically it’s not just being on your back legs. You also are failing to realize that “he never needed to counter hit hard” is like saying he couldn’t punch for shit right? You must hit someone to win rounds. You can not win solely on slipping, ducking, and rolling. You can not win a round without throwing a punch, regardless of what stupid hyperbolic statements newspapers have made about guys like Pep.
I mean shit, I’ll just start saying Vasyl Lomachenko is the defensive GOAT. 396-1and against opposition with no footage, even if it’s amateur the numbers don’t lie.
There’s more footage of Locche than Pep because he’s from the 60s - 70s. Not the 20s. I just linked the one with flashy editing that happened to a be a title fight. That’s not even half the fight but that somehow makes you an expert on him and his opponent.
15th round against an all time great. Straight clowning him . ALL TIME GREAT. Not a can.
You’re still saying Pep fought a higher caliber of opponent and I’m saying bullshit. You’re only saying that because he’s a bigger name and he’s American. He fought a hundred more times, he lost almost three times as many times. Not all Pep’s fights were fights of the century. Some were good boxers, many would never have been professional in today’s age. Locche fought 140 times almost. He lost 4. Both fighters fought very good opponents and average ones. I refuse to believe you know even 99% of either of each fighters fights, probably no one does, without that you’re just talking shit making a claim about tougher competition. You haven’t sat there and analysed the calibre of each opponent they both fought. Bigger names is exactly what’s put my back up, they’re bigger because you talk about them more, that’s it, it’s just straight bias.
I do realize that defense includes offense. If you can fight 140 times without it and only lose 4, then you’re THAT good at what you do that you don’t need it and that in itself is mindblowing. Cutting the offensive side of defense from the equation and STILL winning all your fights… like fuck man. Locche WON his fights. He won them by poking them, he didn’t have a knockout blow but at the same time, he didn’t even try. He just poked them to score points, that’s how he won fights. He dodged, racked up points and went the full distance against everyone and they never solved the enigma code of his movement. No one else does that. No one else has EVER done that. Just score more points than them with soft blows knowing they weren’t going to score back.
Pep was one of the greatest of all time. This isn’t an attack on Pep at all. Pep had amazing defence, he had amazing offence, he was possibly the best boxer that has lived.
When it comes to straight defence, Nicolino’s defence was so good he fought 140 times, lost 4 with barely a knockout. He WON his fights though. He WON his fights going the distance against everyone, dodging and throwing soft punches at odd angles to score points.
