Even in MMA, Russians / ex - Soviets are a force. I think the Brazilians still hold the MMA crown but Fedor and a lot of guys still competing like Nurmy who just went and injured himself make a huge case for Russian fighters.
MMA is like the gold rush when it comes to combat sports. Lots of opportunity. Itâs exciting, itâs still largely new ground with incorporating stuff that hasnât been done. Boxing is past itâs best years. I think the sport will go on forever, I just see MMA as a chance to go for broke. I think I can be good at it. Not going to blow my own horn, but itâs something I want to try. One of my friends from school is pro in the AFC here in Australia. I have avenues into it. Boxing is just something Iâve done for years through gyms as part of trying to live a healthy life and know how to look out for myself.

Sounds about right for Floyd, at least.
So out of curiosity, how many of yall plan on watching the fight at a bar vs watching it at home? Just curious. I know for my location (Toronto) unless youâre getting somewhere at 7PM⌠you aint watching the fight and youâre not even allowed to book reservations.

A bunch of my friends will be heading upto Richmond Hill to our local pub. $5 cover, which is excellent as compared to other big name bars $15- $20. Yah ill be there pretty early. $5 beer on the tap seal the deal for me.
Its just amazing how his fight is bring people together and exposing them to Boxing. I have friends and family that never watched a single boxing fight in their lives knows about this fight, and will be attending it somewhere at their comfort to view it.

I bartend on Saturday night, so Iâm probably gonna stay up all night to watch the fight at a bar (fight time is around noon Seoul time).
Iâll be at my house watching it with a couple of buddies. My uncle actually got tickets to the fight, lucky bastard.

Nobody cares besides that one guy who likes your posts. Maybe itâs one of your 13 kids.
Boxing is hard to really come in when most semi elite dudes have had 200 fights before they hit puberty.
I been boxing since i was 13? But really my whole thing with boxing and martial arts is that my dad liked seeing me get punished through exercise since i was too big for him to whoop.

lmfao this freddie roach quote.
âim really worried about this fight. I really dont think mayweather will show up, i wont believe it, til i see him in the ringâ
hahahha troll game too stronk
I feel it. I know my coach was wanting me to go pro, but I moved away and just really wasnât trying to get hit for real, lol. If I would have stayed in Cincinnati and continued my training I would have probably been on my way to making it pro one day.
Honestly that is how I got into competing in Judo. My coach told me to enter tournaments and I did. I wasnât really caring about competing, I just practiced Judo because I enjoy it.

Yea the getting hit for real part def was a pause but i just didnt have hunger to hurt the other guy, and my coach noticed. I really liked the defense and technical side of it and i had power but i just wasnt aggro enough. So instead of trying to go amateur i just spar and workout. I enjoy the sparring alot especially with new people its fun to show them the way
Regarding floyd pac im just trying to ignore the clock so saturday gets here faster

Tougher competition is subjective because boxing is a huge deal in South America. You canât say people are tougher just because theyâre North American and you know more about that scene and itâs history. Well⌠I guess you can say that but it doesnât make it correct. It just means youâre biased. All-round Iâll give you though, Nicolino was not all-round which is why I claimed him as âdefensive.â Nicolino is criminally underrated because he didnât speak English and didnât travel much but he fought a lot of the best of his period in Argentina, hence being The Ring Magazines LINEAL champ for those years.
Willie Pep was a genius, his sheer wins were ridiculous, I donât like comparing greats like that but for the sake of it the reason I stated Nicolino over Pep for that particular accolade is because he was PURELY defensive. Most minutes in the ring, he won fights feathering his opponents for points. Pep was defensively incredible but he wasnât purely defensive, he got a lot of knockouts. Locche didnât try. No one could touch him and that was without grabbing onto them every few minutes like some fighters do. He literally just dodged EVERYTHING⌠Heâd stand hands behind his back and stick his head out because he got opponents that exhausted a stiff breeze would topple them. There has never been anyone like him, a boxer that just stands in the ring so completely impervious that they can win every fight just poking their opponent. He was like a kid the way he toyed with people.
You can look at the footage, itâs plain as day Pep fought tougher competition. Boxing hasnât changed since the 20s. I agree heâs criminally underrated but saying heâs the best defensive fighter of all time is overrating him. Defense isnât just slipping a punch, defense is being in the right position, countering, and negating while being able to score back. Locche wasnât great at scoring back and it shows because of his KOâs. Anyone can punch, but he didnât emphasize a way to completely negate and counter a tool to the majority of his opposition. Another thing is a good jab, good combination punching is also taking defense into account. You try to negate the counters while using a good combination. Showing different levels and angles is also a sign of good defense.
Locche is better at slipping than Floyd but Floyd has a better jab x1000. Floyd isnât even Joe Gans.
Iâll end with this again, if youâve boxed then you can look at the footage. Locche didnât fight the caliber of opposition someone like Pep or Burley did. Nobody is saying he fought scrubs either but itâs just not at the same level. Iâm probably the biggest proprietor of Locche there is. Iâm just trying to be reasonable with where others are ranking him. I see it time and time again where people post that video and say heâs the best. There is so much going into it before you can claim someones the best.
