The Boxing Thread

Were Bradley, Marquez, Mosley, Cotto, Margarito the highest paid and single largest PPV attraction in all of sports? Whether they suspected him or not, none were in a position to dictate any kind of terms to him and turn down their largest payday.

IF there was speculation about Holyfield and the Klits being on Performance Enhancers the people that fought them knowingly are not only brave, but stupid(Also tmk in the early 80s and through the mid 90’s some of it was impossible to test for) IMO. Klit actually did pop positive by the way http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/boxing/2389404/Boxing-Klitschko-admits-steroid-abuse.html

Also regarding side effects no it is not that simple. Ninjaing the testing is right. We are in the 2010’s and it was only a few years ago that the first athlete EVER IN ANY SPORT(A Rugby player) tested positive for HGH. A random minor leaguer was the first baseball player in 2011 to pop positive for HGH. So besides before/after pics of skinny athletic looking dudes looking body builder yoked years later, it’s clearly not as simple as saying “Oh yeah we would have seen backne, pimples, and a huge swollen head by now”.

He’s done it for every fight he’s had over the last 4-5 years, so he’s actually mentioned it plenty.

That was years later and after Pac lost to Bradley, but yeah the fundamental reason why this isn’t going down is because Arum/Mayweather beef and Arum’s desire to just have Pac fight Top Rank guys.

Why would their popularity have anything to do with it? Of course they are in a position to reject risking their health by fighting a guy who has been power juice. The bottom line is, the speculation of Pacquiao doing peds was ridiculous because he showed no physical/behavioral signs which he should of had if he was taking peds that rare that it could ninja testing… it’s like some guy from a poor ass country manage to get this rare-unknown steroid that is so awesome that the user can get passed drug testing and side effects. The boxing experts, the boxing legends to even boxers of today think Floyd is scarred.

Please watch these videos including the 3rd one. Even the biggest floyd defender on tv to his own Dad have made it clear.

Right, but again the point being is that boxers do step up and fight guys who are suspected to be doing peds. Like you said: “fight him if he’s on PEDS anyways? What kind of sense does that make?” so there is your evidence that there have been fighters

Ninja testing and getting no side effects is ludacris. For a Ped to be capable of going untraced in every testing including the Nevada style then obviously that is some special type of ped. Since week peds give side effects then obviously this “special” ped that Pacquiao has been taking should have shown strong side effects. LOL at you thinking the side effects are just size increasement. The Pacquiao being on PEDS argument is a ridiculous slander that is only believed by floyd fans and Pac’s haters because it is really absurd.

Don’y get me wrong, I think Floyd will beat him at this time but Floyd is the one that has been ducking and no body denies that other than May’s fans.

Ya i mean floyd definitely wasn’t good for the sport. Especially in the sense of the type of fans he has and the fact a lot of people watch him just to see him get ko’d lol. As for PEDs, people dont really realize but there is performance enhancers for literally everything. Drugs and performance enhancers just arent the way they used to be. You can take things for strength, for endurance, for muscle building repair, literally anything.

I have not heard of a PED for hand speed, but even if their were any PED that can go out undetected has to be a special ped and if regular peds cause side effects then it’s certain the peds Manny is taking should be doing the same. I stopped watching Boxing after Pac/Bradley 1 because i was sick and tired of waiting for the fight i wanted and i was sick and tired of hearing bullshit after bullshit as to why it isn’t happening. To me, floyd has been ducking because he is likely waiting for the time where he sees manny slowing down (which naturally should happen given his multiple careers in his country to fights breaking him down) and i think that is pathetic because the fight is better when both are in their actual prime not at the climax. Even if the match happens next year, and floyd wins or manny wins… it would not be as rewarding and the potential of action would not be as good if it were done 2 years ago.

Man…I’m not a Pac or Floyd fan, always prefered the heavyweights (not much to watch there for awhile though), but it is obvious to any objective observer Floyd didn’t want to fight Pac. All the money, testing stipulations were ways of getting the fight to not happen without outright saying I am afraid. Floyd is very concerned with his legacy, he knew there was a good chance he could actually lose to Manny (unlike the majority of his hand picked opponents) and especially considering Manny’s popularity in his prime…it wouldn’t be looked at as a random upset (as it would if it was a lesser boxer) but as Manny being the better fighter.

Evander Holyfield on the subject (September 18th, 2014)

(June 27th 2014)

Larry Holmes (2012)

Its not so much his legacy. If you really think about it a large part of mayweathers appeal is that he hasnt been beaten and he realizes that. So once he loses haters wont really care to watch him lose again… So he will lose a large portion of his viewers. Thats real talk right there

Thats not real talk thats a load of bullshit

Theres been boxers who were beash and hated and lost and people still watched them

I agree but he loses a lot of his appeal. People always talk about Mayweather being undefeated. Also name me some guys that were hated and undefeated then lost and people still watched them? You could maybe say Roy Jones? But he wasnt really hated and he was extremely flashy and talented.

EDIT: Maybe Broner but it actually kind of proves my point. After i saw Broner get smoked by Maidana I got my fill and since then have not been interested in him at all.

Sorry double post

Ali lost, people still watched him. Louis too. Tyson lost to Buster Douglas…then went to jail for a long time, u know how much hype there was about his next match? People want to see what adjustments a fighter will make after coming off a loss.

Floyd may get a lot of hate (though I think this manny thing is a big part of it), but he also has a huge fanbase who prize his skill and swagger. If he fought and lost to Manny, people wouldn’t stop watching him…they would demand a rematch which would likely have even greater sales.

All Mayweather is doing is hurting himself. Undefeated yeah. However with a massive black mark, as in hand picking opponents he matches up favorably against and avoiding the best fighter in his weight class. I mentioned Rocky marciano being undefeated…and I respect that guy. He faced all the competition he could face, he isn’t at fault. Floyd is ducking competition to preserve his record, which is why it is so highly criticized.

It’s funny that you mention Roy Jones since he fought complete scrubs for the majority of his career and his legacy seems pretty solidified whereas Mayweather fought legit dudes, but his legacy is considered questionable.

Floyd Mayweather was offended and got into an argument with someone who doesn’t know him:

the one thing you CAN’T shit talk mayweather about is his resume, IMO

I wanna see Anderson Silva beat Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match!!!

Roy Jones basically made an entire weight class extinct and was LOOKING for good people to fight and even moved up to heavyweight to fight John Ruiz (who was a plug, that said he won lol.) Thing with Roy Jones was he was really flashy. I remember being like 10 years old in a smokey bar (im from the country lol) and seeing Roy Jones do that thing where he would roll his back arm around and then throw a hook from the front and do major damage lol. Roy jones was way above his competition and there was no one legit to fight him and is a hall of fame fighter. Floyd just has a bad reputation but skills wise hes very legit and has fought more big names in his weight class. The issue is most of them weren’t during their primes and doesnt take the fights the fans want, he takes the ones he wants. Also, boxing is currently in a lull. Boxing was in a much better state 15 years ago when Roy was doing things.

Roy fought Toney and B. Hop when they were just starting out and then didn’t fight anybody worth knowing for like 10 years until Tarver KTFO’d him,. After he got destroyed THEN he finally fought Trinidad, B. Hop, Lacy, Calzaghe, etc…

I mean he technically beat tarver the first time too. It was only until the second fight he got KO’d (and yes it was bad lol). I dunno the competition wasnt really there. Also, those fighters you mentioned look appealing but most there werent natural Light Heavyweights.
