Wrapping up a clinch and not throwing short punches makes ni sense to me. But this was a mtch where both guys used a clinch and threw some pepper from the inside
I think a rematch would look more one sided for money
LOL pacquiao fans still thinking that manny isnât prolonging that match either
Floyd complaining about everything thats how you know he was trying. First its the gloves then its maidana fighting rough then its his eye now its the ref lol
Dave Moretti scored the fight the same way I did. Mayweather Jr. won the fight clearly; people just arenât used to seeing him put in work to win his rounds. Maidana fought a very dirty fight.
Agreed. Maidana came in with the right attitude and approach, but his boxing style was too sloppy in the latter rounds and he lacked the one important thing to edge him out- speed. Still that dude should be proud of himself, he put it all out there.
Mayweather had a 54% connect rate (mostly counters) even though he threw far less punches, thatâs impressive. Mayweatherâs skill and technique edged it out, and rightfully so.
I do agree that the Maidina fight made the theory fighting between Pac and Mayweather more interesting but at the same time people gave up on theory fighting a long time ago. I am honestly more interested in a Maidina/Mayweather rematch. Maidina and Pacquiao sounds good too⌠that would be a massive slug fest but i think Maidina/Mayweather is more deserving and wanted right now.
I donât think Maidina was sloppy, he just got burned the fuck out after round 6.
He didnât get sloppy in later rounds, heâs always sloppy. If anything he showed more of his jab in the later rounds. The gas tank required to shove someone up against the ropes and not stop punching EVER is just ridiculous, I canât think of anyone thatâs going to maintain that with enough power to keep them cornered for 12 straight rounds.
Heâs clearly a brawler and brawlers always look unrefined, but in earlier rounds he was at least doing feints and occasional jab as a check, then lunging with chopping rights when Mayweather started moving back. After the middle rounds he was slow jabbing for purely defensive reasons since he was clearly tiring. Most of the reasons he even went more âtraditionalâ in the latter rounds was purely due to fatigue, it was clearly not his natural style.
And Iâm also in the camp that Pacquaioâs combination of aggressiveness, power, technique, and speed was the perfect counter to Mayweatherâs style. Unfortunately, Pacquaioâs speed has clearly taken a hit, and Iâm worried as losing speed will only cause Mayweather to treat him the same way he did Canelo.
The funny thing about Pac and Mayweather fights is that eventually a âYing Yangâ starts show. For example, JMM vs Pacquiao⌠JMM is clearly a weaker version of Mayweather yet he has been the guy who handled pacquiaoâs style. We can argue all day about JMM beating Pac on the past fights but any reasonable unbias guy will say that Paqâs knockout from JMM was due to a very bad decision and not because JMM was better than him. I still think that if Pacquiao did not rush in during the last seconds of that 6th round, he would have won and many think that too because Marquez was this close to being forced to stop due to that broken nose. Iâm not saying that Marquez won from a lucky hit, no way. The counter punch was pure tactic, however he won due to a lucky situation where he was able to draw out that counter punch. The recent mayweather drives a newer view to theoratical fighting of Pac and Mayweather. IMO, Maidina put on a very close fight (nothing too close as to JMM/Pac) and no one in their right minds can say Mayweather had high difficulty in this fight⌠but Maidina, IMO, is a weaker slower version of Pacquiao. Maidinaâs brawls were sloppy where allot of his barrages did not hit but Pacquiao on the other hand has faster barrages and the majority of them do hit.
Iâm not going to go into a pac beats may or may beats pac because i seriously hate theory fighting. Contrary i do think Mayweather will beat him but I donât think Pac will be as out classed as Canelo was. It will likely be a better brawl than May/Maidina because Pacquiaoâs barrages are faster and have scored hit rates⌠the only thing that will minus it out is the age of both of them and clearly Pac is at an age and time of his life where Boxing isnât major for him.
I think itâs bias for both May and Pac fans to think that either one of them would certainly get owned by the other. Even if I think Mayweather wins, out of all the guys in the division who has the best chance at defeating Mayweather itâs definetly Pacquiao and this is coming from a guy who is above 70% in favor of mayweather.
Wasnât a fix like Pacquiao and Bradley 1 but the scores were just ridiculous. People are saying it was a good fight but thatâs because May stood there giving Maidana a chance. He could have made this a much more one sided fight if he wanted. How many times did Floyd back up on the ropes and let Maidana punch away? Even on some of the breaks he just stayed there on the ropes LOL
Dudes on another level. Itâs like watching a little kid fight his older brother and the older brother is just pretending to fight for real to make the other one think heâs doing something
Just watch some of the slow downed defense highlights of May, shit is not real
