Which part didn’t make sense? The part about people saying he should move up to fight GGG is true. As did the part about GGG not wanting any part of Ward and Ward moving up to fight Kovalev.
The only debatable thing he said/implied was that it was an issue of race which I would say that it partly is, but it’s mostly an issue of Floyd being (intentionally) unlikable.
After reading his position, it actually makes sense. It really does sound like they’re doing what they can to make the fight and the only one opposed is De La Hoya as his cash cow is about to get smashed into oblivion.
IF it truly is De La Hoya behind this, he’s making Canelo look bad. It doesn’t look good when you say you’ll fight anyone and then it doesn’t happen and you’re even willing to vacate titles to avoid the fight.
people feel canelo is overrated so theyll use it as a reason to hate them. who really cares what the WBC/WBO/IBO/IBF/IFBB/IDFS/WTF/IDGAF/LMFAO even says anyway
IMO it’s not about the title, it’s the principle of it. That the guy’s willing to just walk away from a title rather than buck up and take a fight he said he would take in the first place. It just looks petty.
No, he had to fight GGG in a mandatory title defense. If anything, GGG had more of the power here because Canelo had to fight him, not the other way around. But rather than defend the title and fight, Canelo abdicated it. They say the fight’s going to happen, but who knows when.
