Aaaah, that changes everything. (Yeah, maybe he’s pussy)
People don’t care about titles when they’re the commissions try to force bullshit title defenses instead of fights that people want to see. However the WBO wanted Canelo to defend his belt against GGG and he refused. Plain and simple, that’s the status as of now. If he ultimately fights GGG it won’t matter since the belt now belongs to GGG and would presumably be on the line if the fight was made, but that hasn’t happened yet and Canelo’s people don’t seem anxious to make it a reality.
Just as an example, nobody really cares that Fury dropped one of his belts to give Klitschko a rematch because most people agree that Klitschko deserves a rematch over anybody else getting a shot and is probably the toughest available opponent. But if Fury wins and then drops his belt instead of defending against Wilder then people would be looking at him just like we’re looking at Canelo.
The Tyson Klitschko fight was very strange for me to watch. I’m very curious about the next one.
I don’t even think it’s that he’s a pussy. I think of it were totally up to Canelo, the fight would be on track. I really do think it’s his people that are keeping it from happening, specifically De La Hoya. For all I know it might be smart to be doing it the way he’s doing it, but it sure doesn’t look that way from here.
Man I love boxing. I adore it. Im in love with the romance the history the aesthetic
but boxing as an organized sport is a joke. theres so many organizations and belts they dont really mean anything. Everyones figured out by now that money is the real power so the top stars just do whatever they want cause theyll be fine. its only going to get worse and more unregulated
Speaking of the heavyweight division, I would love to see a tyson fury-wilder match. Maybe anthony joshua-wilder down the line as well. Don’t count wladimir klitchko out just yet. He may be old, but he is still a hard hitter, and is quite experienced. I would like to think he not going to make the same mistake he did on his first match with fury where he did not even move his right hand for whatever reason. David haye has also came back. He is quite the heavy puncher as well, and a knockout specialist.
Welp…
I was really looking forward to the Povetkin vs Wilder fight. Povetkin is one of my favorite fighters so the doping revelation was quite disappointing but not shocking to most of us who’ve followed his entire career and viewed his dramatic transformation after the Wlad fight. I picked Povetkin to narrowly beat Wilder in a tough fight but if they eventually fight when Povetkin isn’t on anything to improve his performance then I guarantee Povetkin will get KO’d by Wilder. I think Povetkin should either retire now or have just one last huge payday against Wilder, David Haye or even Fury, with Fury being the easiest option out of the three for stylistic reasons (but he’ll still lose to Fury).
110% agree. Especially that there are too many belts.
People figuring out that you can make money at ANYTHING is usually what kills it.
I expect Wlad to throw caution to the wind and go all out with his defense. Whether this will help Wlad or aid Fury in getting an early KO I don’t know yet. My full prediction will be given on fight night.
Thought you meant Mike Tyson when I first read this…
That fight did happen…
…on Fight Night Champion.
And now Muhammad Ali is on life support.
Damn…
I just heard he was on Life support. I Hope he pulls through, but I know he’s getting up there in age.
I am hoping he pulls through. Sending him positive vibes like a spirit bomb.
No good news. R.I.P Ali.
: / my mom blew up my phone with the news. Had always wanted to meet him before he passed away
R.I.P the greatest
Rip ali im sad but happy at the same time. I met him when I was like 8, and he already was in horrible health. That was 21 years ago. At least the suffering is over
RIP to one of my favourite fighters to watch. The most godlike footwork(and mouth) to ever play the game.
