The Batman thread: MkII

The title characters really shined in Batman and Robin#3 and if Blackest Night: Batman is any indication it seems like Damian might be finally starting to respect DG(he better recognize).

Loved the DG spots, getting to use the “I’m Batman” line is pretty much graduating top honors from the Bat-family. As for Damian, I’ve liked the kid since he was introduced but after this I now think of him as Robin and not just that cool kid that Grant Morrison created.

Batman Arkham Asylum got into the Guiness Book of World Records for “Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero game ever.” Great game, well deserved!

I have yet to read Blackest Night but I am deep into the whole RIP story arc and the events afterward. I had mixed thoughts about G.Morrison’s new series at first but after wrapping up the 3rd issue also, I definitely have to agree with you. Quitely’s take on the visuals is definitely very cool too. I’m really happy with the approach they took for the art in this series. As for Damian ever respecting DG, lol… We’ll have to wait and see.

Anyone still read the crapfest that is the Judd Winick helmed regular Batman title?

LOL, the big reveal on the last page of #688 or whatever the latest issue is with Two-Face in his own custom Two-Face-Batman costume?

That is the stupidest thing to ever appear in a comic book. Are there seriously people out there that flip to the last page and go like “Whoa, COOL!!!”?

WHY AM I STILL BUYING THIS BOOK!?!

Yup there are. What’s wrong with 2-Face Bats suit?

Tony Daniel showed that Batman Two Face outfit long ago in the Battle For The Cowl Teaser image.

At least it makes sense now. I was waiting for Two Face to show up during BFTC in that suit talking about “I AM BATMAN” in his Richard Moll voice while hot-wiring the Bat Signal so it could flip that huge penny from the Batcave. :looney:

B&R #4

Spoiler

I wonder if Dick Grayson telling Damian about his hood and how Batman warned him about it early on is a silent nod to All Star Batman and Robin. Good stuff!

Hahaha, I don’t know how anyone could justify Two-Face’s Batman suit. What an uninspired design.

I’m really bummed out that Quitely’s off Batman & Robin now, only after four issues. They were so good. What a tease.

This seems to be happening a lot lately where top notch artists do like four or six issue stints on new books just to launch them. It just seems disingenuous to me.

That’s not the goofiest thing of all time to you? Like what if Green Goblin suddenly dressed up in some wacky green and purple variant of the Spider-Man suit for no reason? Would that not be the goofiest and lamest idea of all time?

…actually wait, don’t answer that.

So my being away from comic stint thing is done, was busy and didn’t have money for new comics. Now I kinda do, so more Batman must be bought.

I will miss Quitely as well, he had some amazing work going on despite my issues with it. Also I actually like the 2-face suit, has a bizarre patchwork look to it, pretty sweet. But then I like a lot of stupid shit, so take that for what you will.

Put the Public Enemies DC movie thing in my Netflix cue for next week, see if I like it or not.

Can someone give me the starting issue of the current arc for Batman? I keep getting confused, and the people working the comic shops are retarded here.

The recent Azrael story that took place between the Batman and Detective Annuals felt a bit lacking. Some of Batman 2.0 and Question 2.0 dialog was cool at least. Batman Blackest Night ended really well I thought.

Batman Blackest Night 3

Spoiler

Batman and Red Robin had themselves frozen solid with Mr. Freeze’s gun (Robin got it for them from one of the Bat Bunkers, attached it to one of Nightwing’s old Wingnut handgliders and sent it along) so they would not feed any emotions to the Black Lanterns. After the Black Lanterns left Deadman entered their bodies to revive them both. Great plan Dick Grayson! Tomasi always did do great work with Dick Grayson / Nightwing besides.

I’ve been slowly getting into comics for the past few years but I’m pretty much in over my head. Yeah, I’m a comic noob. These days the only ones I’m reading are Deadpool and Batman. Question: any website out there that tracks the new releases for Batman? I realize that he’s in several of them but keeping track and knowing when they come out really isn’t something I know how to do. Looking to make this a regular hobby. Help?

Not sure if there’s a specific place that tracks Bat Books but I’m betting there is, like a Batman fansite of sorts. Thanks to Taichi kicking off the ‘New Comics’ thread, I do track every comic that comes out every week here. Hey DC puts out a lot of Bat Books every week!

This link will take you to the same listing and if you hover over the titles you can see cover images and brief descriptions.

So Mama & Papa Grayson didn’t have a chance to whup Dick’s ass? That was a damn good plan indeed!!!

You can always just check the normal shipping lists, which should be available every week at http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/newreleases.txt, which Sano copies and pastes into the New Releases thread constantly.

Also, instead of the normal monthly just plain vanilla “Batman” monthly, I would highly suggest picking up the “Batman & Robin” title instead. I think issue #5 just came out this month so it wouldn’t be a huge deal to catch up, and the quality of that book is a lot better than this one.

Always fun to see a new reader jump into comics - never hesitate to fire any questions about any titles you’re interested in regardless of which thread you’re in.

Depends on the thread (like, I’m sure your question would be ignored in the Action Figure thread lol) but for the most part yeah, it’s cool. We all love Batman anyway. :nunchuck:
