Dude im so hype for Skullgirls it hurts. I honestly feel its going to be one of the best fighting games period. And im going to do my damndest to learn that game in and out.

i Really want the scene to be big for Skullgirls. Next year i’m pretty much only going to be playing Skullgirls and SFxT. AE is fun but I aint even that good at it
So who are the PSN folks in here? I need to get bodied in AE. I’m at that wall where I’ll get no better without playing with someone better. I just keep doing the same thing and making the same mistakes without knowing how to correct them.

well, i just want to point out that we have 2 of the 5 or so best SSF4 AE players in bama (Nice1 and FR Dickslicer), and I’m decent enough to give some good people some losses from time to time. And considering Dickslicer, Pauliwood, Tee, and I host the friday night event at our apartment, we can’t exactly just get up and leave and have people come over to our place of residence without our supervision.
It’s not a real alabama tournament without those 2 there, and also I would rather you not take people that might come to our event… if you are set on a friday date, that’s really unfortunate and it isn’t good for our scene as a whole
I understand that you aren’t trying to “take over” or anything of the sort but its a bad day.
First we are in agreement Nice1 is a good player, GTSouth gives him props as he took home $600-$700 from his placing at the last tournament we hosted, and we hope to see more players like him reach the top in January when we start hosting again… Hehe…But to the points lets be honest, you know as well as I do with work/school for most folks the scene is pretty restricted to mainly Friday/Saturdays only and Tourneys are in general on Saturdays. We can see it in our shop, we have maybe 2-3 fighters in on the weekdays, but like tonight, a Friday, we had about 14 fighters hanging out using 7 of our 8 PS3s and we’ll probably have about that tomorrow night. Its just simply life getting in the way of play for other days. But even with that knowledge if you feel all Fridays are all only Auburn, no problem, you guys can do your thing, we’ll do ours, we aren’t going to battle the point with you. And we are sorry if you feel it would hurt the scene, we just don’t see the same on it as more options gives more folks opportunity and we see it as growing the scene as more Gump now have more access that couldn’t go to Auburn or elsewhere for that matter.
The Only point that really bothers me in your post is the “not a real alabama tourney” comment… why go there? No need to try to make cuts, Honestly this isn’t even a tourney, its a league. Personally in my youth I grew up in bowling leagues and that is the baseline for how this is run. It is an opportunity to play competitively for some nice money at the end of a season, gain some new skills, have fun with friends, and be ready through continued competitive practice to do even better at regular tournaments. It also pulls in new blood and grows the scene, in fact as I was talking with Skitz tonight, it is amazing that SSFIV and MVC3 sold tons of copies in the Gump when it was released but we never see the people because they play at home or with their buddies and have never been or even know about the scene or competitive gaming as a whole. This helps introduce them to the sport, one of the teams that is signing up is in that exact boat, so we may start seeing some undiscovered talent entering the ranks.
Honestly man, its all about having fun, gaining new skills, and ultimately growing the scene with new opportunity. That is how we see it anyway and not everyone will see it that way and that’s cool. We hope that someday we can bury any hatchets sprung here, we really just want to have fun and provide a good place for the scene to come to when they want.
Now in a more lightened mood, so everyone knows we have a tentative 4 teams signed up so far and looking to get to about 8 for some super nice money at the end, so make sure to get with us and let us know your interest so we can get you signed up and ready to go.
