LETS GOO!!!
so, we’ve been running our event in auburn for 2 years and some people just thought its cool to put their stuff on a friday without even talking to us first?
Regarding the Bumpernets stuff, I think it’s going to be a no-go. I talked with Raekwon about it today and we agreed that it wouldn’t be feasible for the arcade owners cost wise. Lamar also made a comment about there not being a point to it, and he’s right: if people won’t even show up to casuals to play for free, why would anyone expect them to pay money to play at an arcade? I pretty much figured this would end up being a pipe dream, but oh well.
Also, I’ve decided to pick up Seth in AE and focus on it more. I would prefer to keep playing Blaz as I think it’s a better game and I have way more fun with it, but the scene for it around here is MIA. Pat is the only other person that actually tries to be good at the game and we just don’t get to play regularly enough. When I show up to monthlies and there are only two other people playing the game, with neither of them on point, there’s just no purpose in playing it. I’ll try to make sure I don’t get too rusty in preparation for AWA though (I want free entry next year, ha).
Truth said, I am really frustrated with fighting games right now. There are too many out right now; it’s really dividing the B’ham scene (which is already small compared to other scenes, even ones nearby), since everybody wants to play something different. That, and it seems like no one wants to make the effort anymore. I barely even have casuals at my place anymore because there’s no point in sending out texts if they’re just going ignored. I hear people go to the shop for casuals, but the times I’ve went out there, it’s usually Lamar, Cordarius, myself, and maybe one other person.
But whatever. Wake me up when the new Guilty Gear is out–oh that’s right, Arc System Works “is a small company and can only work on one fighting game at a time,” and they’re already dedicating that time to work on a fucking Persona fighting game that, again, no one will play. Shout outs to Ishiwatari and Mori for cashing a check from Atlus instead of giving the fans what they really want.
Yes, I’m salty.
play skullgirls
I’m up for whatever. I’d be dead weight on a team for any game but Marvel though.
When do you guys usually have stuff going on at GTSouth? I should be free on weekends from now on whether I’m on-call for work or not. Got a mobile wireless card for my work laptop so I don’t have to be tethered to my home connection for that shit anymore.
Good job taking the lesser of two evils. However I know how it feels when you wanna play something other than what’s being put out. You know me, I’ll play anything that’s a fighting game. Once December rolls around, you know Melty is the shit I’ma have to put time in. I would like to have a decent scene for it and CS2.5.JustCallit3Fuck. I’m actually surprised people were still trying to get in on that Arcana this past monthly and it really made me wanna go in on that shit harder than before for the next time. I just hate it that I can’t be available to play those guys as much as I would like.
90% of the time you send me a text, I am at work away from my phone. Sucks to be me yes I know. I would love to try and get out there more and this past semester was a good enough time since I had Friday night classes on that side of town. Sadly that’s not the case this semester since this is my 2nd to last before the real world engulfs me in a sea of rage, stress, and school loans.
Did you hear about Project: Blue Revolution 2012? Yeah, it’s some project ArcSys was working on that will be revealed at TGS this month. People are screaming “crossover” but I don’t think its that white and black. However I am a little curious as to what that may be.
Also, you salty. Persona is great. And I have faith in it not being ass since Mori is over it. Get a goddamn PS2 Wes or else I’ll have to fucking let you borrow one.
To the rest of you fags: Play Melty this December. It’s on a fucking PC. You people have PCs, don’t fucking hide it.
no for real play skullgirls when it comes out it will have ggpo netcode and shit so you can play it even if your scene is no good, plus its a good game
me and deezy there like everyday, but friday is where its at saturdays are iffy and sunday they closed…
like forreal mane i kno it ppl out there tryin to play this street fighter, plus thas extra christmas money ya feel me??
Anotak, we mean no disrespect to Auburn, we give props to all who can help the Bama Scene, especially those close to the Gump like Auburn. And many of the guys that play in our shop on Fri/Sat go out to Auburn too. Our decision was based on mainly the Gump crowd. Tournaments are usually Saturdays around Bama, The rest of the week is usually a wash to get that many folks together so Friday was the remaining choice. Also playing into the decision was that folks wanted to do other things on Fridays too like go to Auburn, so we decided the league would only be bi-monthly not weekly. We got nothin but love for gamers, especially our fighter scene and we are doing our best not to step on too many toes to offer some options so we are deeply sorry that you took offense to it, it was not our intent and we aren’t out to try to “take over” or anything like that. So hey we hope you accept our apology we really don’t mean to upset folks. And we’d love to have you and some Auburn folks out to the league, we think its going to be some new kind of fun that folks haven’t done before.
Sixfortyfive, this season is SSFIV:AE but second season and our Saturday monthly starting in January will be UMVC3 so we are going to try to change it up each season. Folks come out off and on during the week, most on Fri/Sat nights unless they at a tourney or Auburn or such. And we have free wifi for your laptop when your there
And for those interested in the league, its 3-man teams in a new way, spans 4 months bi-weekly, starts Sept. 9th 7pm. We have a Selma team, and a couple Gump teams signed up so far, we are shooting for at least 8 teams this season for some nice payouts at the end right before Xmas.
Details here: [Sep 9, 2011] GTSouth League Play - Fall 2011 Season Starts 9/9/11 - SSFIV:AE (Montgomery, AL)
And those that don’t make it to the shop before the 9th, just PM us here with Team Name and GTs for each of the 3 members so we can get you on the list.
Cool stuff. I’ll probably drop by on a Saturday when there isn’t some other tourney/monthly going down in the state. Weekdays usually aren’t good for me due to work, though I can skip out of the office early and finish the rest of the day remotely if nothing urgent is taking up my time.
I’m hype as fuck for Skullgirls so I’m planning on getting it, but judging from nearly every game released since SF4, the local scene will probably play it for a whole week before dropping it in favor of whatever else is new (and that’s if people that don’t skip it entirely for UMvC3). I could always play online like I do with BB (how else am I supposed to stay practiced when no one here plays it?), but even if the netcode is flawless, it’s fun but not the same.
I would like a scene for Blaz as well. Hell, I’d like a scene for a lot more games, but in regards to the stuff I said about people flaking on casuals, can we even say we have a scene for anything when nobody’s showing up to play? I understand if you or other people are at work and can’t make it. That shit happens and is why I can’t make it to as many tourneys as I used to. But when I’m sending out 10 texts, getting one response saying they might make it, and one response saying they definitely won’t, it makes me think: “Why bother?”
I haven’t heard anything about Project: Blue Revolution 2012, but I guess I’ll find out when TGS rolls around. Watch it end up being a BB visual novel or some shit, haha.
Mori being over the Persona FG has me worried: not because I think it will be bad, but because I think it will suffer from a case of “even though this game does almost everything better than every other fighter on the market including a ton of the stuff most fighting game players bitch about on the forums they’ll still find some microscopic or full retard flaw like it being ‘animu’ or some shit and use that as an excuse to not play it then buy $100 worth of Capcom DLC” syndrome. You know, that same shit affecting the Blaz scene. And I’ve had a PS2 for years, I got one back when I first met everybody and we were all still playing GGAC, lol. Speaking of AC, it’s disappointing: the wrong game is making a comeback. Say, when is ArcSys making an XBL/PSN port of AC?
Oh yeah, that’s right. sigh
Whether or not I play Melty depends on system requirements (my good graphics card died a while back so I’ve replaced it with a shittier one, and the fact that my PC is a fucking dinosaur makes simply buying a new card impossible).
You know I am. Mike Z is good peoples.
Any fossil of a computer can play it. It’s a copy paste (generally) of the Arcade version, no crazy HD filters or any of that. Pretty sure anyone can play that easy. It seriously is one of the last recent SD fighting games in Japanese arcades today.
I’ll try to bring my laptop with something on it if it will work on the thing like EFZ did. Also, I’m feeling the same way as Skitz about being burned out on Capcom games.
