Well, I’m just here looking for booty. I’m here for man’s butt.
I play games to, but that’s not my main focus. You know what it is.

@Darkside
I mean, I understand how you feel about BB and it being overlooked, but dont just shit on the games others play just because they are popular.
I’m finally getting in on this kind of stuff after several years of just screwing around with various games, so I for one am pretty appreciative of this.
Honestly I had no idea that there was even the foundation of a scene in Dothan, so we’ll see how badly I get clobbered when that tournament rolls around.

What happened to Toss Salad Man?
we had a agreement.
oh shit
So now the thread is trolling and shitting on every game in the scene?
AE Players: Marvel is stupid.
MVC Players: AE is garbage.
BB Players: All the Capcom games suck, but nobody plays our game.
AE & MVC Players: YOU don’t play your game.
Old Game Players: All the new games suck and are noob friendly.
New Game Players: Then don’t play them.
Old Game Players: There’s nothing better to do.
New Game Players: Then play your old games or shut the fuck up.
Old Game Players: Nobody plays, and they’re no tournaments.
New Game Players: Who’s fault is that?
Nothing personal, but this is just the vibe I’m getting (and have been since SF4 Vanilla). It’s killing the community. Old vs. Young has created a generation gap in society, but shouldn’t be having the same effect in a regional fighting game community.
If you want a tournament for your game, find out how many people really want to compete. Find setups, talk to a TO and run a side tourney (or your own full tourney). If the comp here is too few, travel. Can’t travel? Expand the community, play online, or suck it up. There’s a solution to your problem, if you look for it, and it’s surely not bitching about it.

I don’t think people understand that Wes has been playing and supporting a scene here for BB for a few years now. The thing is that people ignore the help/support he’s been giving out, ranging from “I just don’t like the game” to “No one plays it so why should I?”. Think about it like this: If I hosted something at my house for a certain game to be played, evaluated, and studied for the greater good of said game and you come up in here saying “we should play something else”, it’s kind of disheartening. He’s been trying his best to get people to play Blazblue seriously for a long time. He tried AE and attempted to get better at it, but came to a conclusion that it wasn’t what he wanted to play. Like any other sane human being, he doesn’t play it anymore due to his reasons. Would you honestly play something that you know you did not like just to empower the bigger competitive scene?
Now I know people play for the competition and I respect that thought process. Not all people are playing simply to be the best at a game that alot of people play. Some people have found their true game and would do their best to support a community for it. What he tried to do was create a scene for a game that isn’t as popular as capcom games because he genuinely likes the game and would love to have people to play with. This is when it gets competitive. I, personally cannot put my all and skill into something I just did not enjoy as a whole.
And lemme say this too before someone ends up grinding my gears about this subject. I do not play Melty and Arcana over capcom games because they are free money at tournaments. Yes, if I was bested, I would accept the loss and fight on. I haven’t won a damn Melty singles tournament yet. I got my ass beat in Guilty Gear for years. You know what though? Since I genuinely like those games, I will always try to better myself in them because that is what you do when you enjoy something worth putting that work in. I could be the best damn Marvel player ever and fuck up everyone I come in contact with if I really put my weight into it, but I’m sorry that I am not in a position to do that. I have told Lamar and Zo of my interest in 2012 when it drops but other than that, I’m waiting on Current Code in December.
If you wanna fuck with me in CC, be my guest. I will always have my PC with me so there is no excuse to you not learning how to play CC if you really want to.
okay:
we all except for a few agree that we don’t like sf4
we all except for a few agree that we don’t like mvc3
now the logic is, let’s play this other game named x… except for every other game you can name
we can all except for a few agree that we don’t like x
and whatever x is, whether it be arcana, melty, blaz, tekken, some oldschool stuff like mvc2, cvs2, gg, 3s, or st, we can all agree that same shit about it. No matter what game is the mainstream game, people will shit on it. I would be just as annoyed with 3s or cvs2 as i am with sf4.
who are you even talking to.
i know mysticblak was saying some shit that wasn’t right, but you are blowing it out of proportion.
To be absolutely honest, main reason scenes die with the fg scene is money. I hate to say quote Wu-Tang but Cash rules everything. If let’s say EVO put 20 grand in the blazblue pot for a year (I’m just saying, I know this shit won’t happen), Wong and everyone else will play it a long with the bandwagon of people. Once there isn’t money going into it, people won’t play it. Look at mk9, Wong played that shit and his dick riders came along, he really doesnt play it as much anymore so his whores left mk. However, this still won’t stop a game from dying.
Big example: Capcom makes game where you can fucking mash and win. It includes childhood heroes such as Magneto(Nigga been my idol since 4 yrs old, die x-chiggins) Wolverine, etc. cough Marvel 3 cough Popularity of characters bring in sales. Someone advertises tourney in it and every damn adult and child think they can win that shit due to the easiness of the game. The casual players and competitive players in it is about a 3:1 ratio. Obviously this game would have the most money. Niggas enter to win.
As for difficult games such as Blaz or 3S for example, kids cannot play that shit (I been playing sf3 since I was 9, so don’t count me, I enjoyed complicated fighters as a child), it doesn’t have Batman, Wolverine, Iron Man, or Captain America. It just has this 5’7 japanese karate guy, chuck norris (who they fucking don’t know), and the most craziest fg system ever… NO ABCD KAWMBOS HUHHHHHHH (bitch this isnt pokemon or smash). That turns to I DUN LIKE IT. Which turns less revenue.
Difficulty makes people not wanna play, which is sad because Americans wonder why the Japanese are so smart… hmm well, they enjoy difficult shit. Difficulty increases competitive level, without it, a game is a hunk of shit. That’s why they on a whole nother level in games.
lol.
What’s going on during the next few weeks, anyway?
Verbally attacking a different generation of players is exactly the problem. I don’t expect everyone to agree on the same game(s), but at least try to be mature. New heads have no balls? What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
I wasn’t commenting on my individual opinion on any of these games. I was commenting on my perspective of what other people are saying and have been for the past few years. Maybe I misinterpreted the general consensus, but you basically said what I was saying: Everyone shits on everything. It seems we agree on this, but what point are you saying “wasn’t right”? I’d like to fix it.
Probably more of this shit until the next tournament. A few more trolls and misunderstandings. Every game is dying until the next game comes out and disappoints. The scene doesn’t exist for it’s own sake, so instead of everyone playing what they like, they play what everyone else likes.
It’s great that he’s been supporting the BB community and all, but if it’s just one person, it’s not much of a scene. Not his fault, and it sucks that people will walk up and insult his taste in games, but that shit happens. These things are all subjective, so don’t be mad if no one likes what you like. Keep playing it because YOU enjoy it.
All I’m saying is that you can’t blame anyone who put that much time into the game to just feel that way sometimes. People have shit on Melty for the longest and still do and in all honestly that shouldn’t sway what you play.
Of course everything gets shat on every now and then. But in that order, I’ve been playing GG/Melty since 2006, so if I don’t like anything now I’m going back to GG/Melty. To me, everything including capcom games that wasn’t enjoyable to me took a backseat regardless.
In either case, enough was said about this. I don’t give a fuck what you play as long as you all my niggas and you always support the community at large here. If AE and Marvel can multiply the overall scene for fighting games, hell I’m all fucking for it.
… So im bad for liking and supporting street fighter?
Absoultely nothing until Rocket City Riot as far as i’ve heard, other than that, casuals i spose.
Not taken personally, but you hit the nail on the head with the mentality I’m to which I’m referring. I’ve seen it from several people (not just you), even my own friends and I’m just trying to get the point across.
“Back in my day, we had to walk 12 miles to school in 3 feet of snow, uphill both ways!”
Stuff changes, people. Get used to it. Video game companies are businesses, and unfortunately are not there to cater to out every desire in a fighting game. Someone mentioned earlier that people are sheep, and just go with the flow of popularity. Yup. Fucking right. Deal with it and stop blaming “the new generation” because humanity has been like that for ages. It’s not anyone else’s fault that you just now realized that fact and have one shitty example to show.
We always hear how all the games are noob friendly, but the same skilled players are winning. Sooo…you can’t just mash and win. If you lost to scrub tactics, clearly you need to re-evaluate your game and/or incorporate (and likely redefine) scrub tactics. You do realize that easy combo execution means that skilled players have an easier time whooping your ass, right? Is that really the only argument? It’s never been solely about execution or one or two poor game mechanics. The best players still win because they break down a game and figure out what it takes to win and can execute a PLAN, not just a combo.
People have been joining and dropping scenes for years. It’s not some new phenomenon. We just see it more because the era has brought more people than ever, so obviously, more people decide it’s not for them. BTW, I’m not talking about the SF4 era. It’s the YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and even stream from your phone era. It’s simply seeing the effects of technology and people are misinterpreting it as some flawed generation of players.
