The Asuka Kazama Thread

hey guys in new to asuka and i just wanna know what should i be practicing with her? bnbs and some strategy would be great. thanks in advance

Practice: :dp:K, j.HK, s.HK xx :hcb:K, cr.HK

Of the sequences important to Asuka’s game, that the trickiest. It is also the ultimate goal of any of your jump-in or ground combos so it is important to have down.

st.MK cr.MP xx Oniku is your go to blockstring I think, and on hit can cancel to the previously posted combo as well instead of Oniku.

Mp -> LP -> Onikubigari -> Sweep

No one knows how to play the game yet, so the clock is your best friend/worst enemy at this point. There’s so many SFxT events going on it’s dumb, no other genre of gaming has so many tournaments within a week of going retail.

thanks. what are her tools to get in and poke? and what are some tag in combos?

so…asuka can just counter people out of perfectly tight block strings? is this true or am i doing something wrong in training?

example: ryu does j.mk, cr.mk xx fireball – asuka grabs his cr.mk.

I doubt she can counter in the middle of a 100% blockstring.

I also Dont think its possible to do counter between an Good block string unless they drop it.

Edit: actually ill just say NO been trying but nothing. So it wont work.

alright, that makes sense.

no nothing except for the alpha counter i believe can get you out of block strings
the reason why you are possibly getting the counter through block strings is because they aren’t block strings;
they are either frame traps or they are just dropping inputs

Counter starts at Frame 1 so as long as there is 1 frame of input you can counter.

Frame data :smiley:

Edit: Taken from a Gilley post in the Guile forum.

S.lp or S.mp stuffs the non-crossup dive kicks.

Not that that detours Rufus from continuing to spam them.

cr.HP seems to be a great AA against most attacks that use kicks. It loses a lot to punches though. Examples being Ryu’s j.MK and j.HK lose cleanly to cr.HP. No follow up due to cr.HP unable to cancel. cr.HP loses every time to j.HP and j.MP from Ryu though.

This is likely due to the angles that these attack cover. A universal AA seems out of the question for Asuka, outside of EX Falling.

Fun note about c.MK as an AA. If you do it late enough, it will catch the recovery frames of a landing opponent instead of hit them out of the air. The 4 frame recovery from performing an action in the air. Buffer this into Super Arts, Cross Arts, Oni or a Tag combo. It seems incredibly legit so far at least against Ryu. Going to start testing against Rolento. Will edit this post with further details.

EDIT: late c.MK can work against Rolento’s j.MP and j.HP, but it’s pretty difficult and seems spacing dependent. I would simply avoid it and try to AA Rolento via f.LK or EX Falling.

Her Cr.MK can also be cancelled into her BNB. Her hitbox also remains low as soon as the startup ends and through most, if not all, of the recovery. Its function as an AA and as an answer to fireballs is something people should be aware of. :slight_smile:

i have a question what is CADC and cancan combo? couldn’t find the answer in other threads

CADC is Charge Attack Dash Cancel. For Asuka it’s HCB+K, and hold the kick. While holding the kick, double tap forward or backwards to cancel it to a dash.

The Cancan I think is her BnB damage combo. DP+K j.HK st.HK xx HCB+K cr.HK (Could be mistaken on exactly when this starts though.)

The cancan is her Double Lift Kicks.

Where do you guys think Asuka will fall on this game’s “week 2-3 tier list” ??

i personally think she’s mid tier at best since she cant really get in anyone and needs a good character that can easily go in, do damage and then tag in Asuka and let the bullying commence. However thats not the only thing she lacks, her neutral game is pretty weak and she has no anti-airs other than EX Falling Rain, she can also be a hard character to learn IMO. I just hope more people find some hidden tech with her that can make her a more viable character
