The Asuka Combo thread

What are you guys doing for basic tag combos? Off a normal launcher I’m just doing s.MK-cr.MP xx Falling Rain at the moment. :confused:

For basic tag combos, I think the current optimized one is f.LK, f.LP, c.MP/s.HK xx Onikubigari, Sweep. Whichever is easiest for you to hit. c.MP makes both the Sweep and attack after f.LK much easier, but s.HK is a lot more damaging, just tighter.

Asuka can link cr.:lk: > st.:lp: which is better because it starts from a low.

J. :hp:> s. :mp:> s. :lp:> Double Lift Kicks> j. :hk:> Cross art (560 dmg with Abel) for stylish match finishers, you can also just tag after the j. :hk: to continue a combo with your partner. eg. J. :hp:> s. :mp:> s. :lp:> Double Lift Kicks> j. :hk:> tag > s. :hp: Falling Sky for 404 dmg. Obviously damage varies on your team.

One meter for 463ish damage. j.:hp: , :mp: ,:lp: , :hcb::2k: , time their fall into another :mp: ,:lp: , :hcb::k: , c.:hk: .

You can do it with or without the jump in. (423 compared to 463). I have been trying to link the EX into something more damaging but the f.MP and f.LK don’t seem to come out quick enough. f.LK looks like it might JUST make it on a tough link but I haven’t been able to get it.

Edited with notations. Its become my new BnB since asuka is second on my team. I have yet to find anything with better damage without including a super.

I always perform Askuka’s combo like this:

Jumping HP, Jab uppercut, Jab low kick, Hyakujitsuko, HK, EX version of Exorcisor > Mist Palm Thrust > Raging Storm, forward MP, LP version of Exorcisor > Mist Palm Thrust > Raging Storm. (Damage: about 379) (Hits: 17)

It’s a fun combo.

My crossup combo I use:

cross up HP, sLK, sMP, sLP, sMP, sLK, sMK, cMP, dpK, jHK, cMP, sHK, qcbKK.

Some 2 and 3 bar variations for exchange combos with Jin/Kazuya. You can replace some moves of your creativity, but be aware of the juggle limit.

Instead of doing the cross art right after the j.hk, do j.hk>st.hkxx cross art. Just make sure you hit the st.hk a little later than you normally would for the bnb.

Been doing some Asuka on point for King. The big thing I’ve found with her is Cross Canceling the f:hk: as it makes it completely safe on block AND allows for some nasty juggles on hit. Her f:lk f:lp: cr:mp: tends to be better than the :hk: if only because it connects anywhere on screen while the :hk: can whiff at a bit past midscreen.

In the corner you can do hopkicks -> f+LK (2 hits), stand roundhouse xx onikubigari, sweep.

It does a little more damage than the default juggle.

There any way to combo into the Leg Cutter? (df.HK)
If so, that’d kick ass because it’d mean easy super/crossart combos.

Threw together a little combo video for my Julia / Asuka team. Nothing amazing, but wanted to put this capture card to use and get some more video in these threads.

About linking light attacks.

  • Low short and crouching jab have less pushback than standing jab, but standing jab has the best frame advantage.
  • standing jab -> standing jab -> crouching jab will whiff, so do a different normal at the end.
  • crouching short/jab -> standing jab -> crouching jab will connect.

Normally you’d want to do standing strong xx hopkicks after the stand jab, and chaining from low short is easier than linking, but this is just noting what options work during a blockstring. Sometimes you want to do link blockstrings because it helps make the opponent fear throws/overheads and then your chain blockstrings have a better chance of hitting.

General rule is if you can confirm into hopkicks, do it, even if you’re canceling from a light attack. Asuka’s juggle does so much damage that even adding a 60-damage attack to the ground string will usually reduce the overall damage.

Do you have any other suggestions/pointers? Delaying the jHK helped, but the sweep still feels inconsistent for me so far…

I wonder if anyone is using her overhead?? I havent seen anyone using it online.

My Asuka BnB: Starter xx Flip Kicks f.:mp: c.:mk: xx Oni into Sweep. I’ll get Damage/Meter gain later tonight if anyone wants it.

Asuka’s f.:mp: ground bounces on airbourne opponents

F.mp is -8 on block. way too risky to use unless you’re 100% it’ll hit.

It always hits. If you miss the link, you miss the link I suppose

Hit the st.hkxxOni as high as possible, and then wait a little long than you would think for the sweep.

So it’s not as fast a possible. Okay, I’ll keep plugging away at it.
