DAMN YOU KODAKAWA!!!

Because they are replaying Season 1 and dropping in the Season 2 episode in the middle of season 1 in chronological order. So the new Episode they just played actually happens 3 episodes prior to the next chronological new episode. Also as AlterGenesis said. they love to troll us. They giveth and they taketh away.

Admittedly I was disappointed there wasn’t a new dance for the ED >.>

K-On:
I like this episode. It cool for the Band to have a member tho actually want to oh…i dunno…Play music. So that’s cool. Doubt we’ll actually get to see them play more music or anything but still nice lol. This episode makde me chuckle quite a bit so over all I liked it a lot. It’s nice to see Mio being normal again.

I was surprised they didn’t have one too. Seemed like a great chance.

Shit is amazing. I mean, the show is okay to good. Fucking wow @ how far they’ve been able to stretch that shit.

Fucking yes to the bolded.

The real impression i got from this episode (which i thought was funny) was how stupid the rest of the members besides Mio are. They have like no interest in play music so why did they join a music club? It didn’t seem like such a big deal until this episode because Asuza actually wants to play Music but Yui, Ritsu and Mugi did like everything they possibly could to avoid picking up their instruments. I kept sitting there going “WTF? She wants to play why are you guys avoiding that?” it’s like those 3 don’t actually like playing music at all. Was a weird vibe honestly. I love the show and i even liked that episode but that vibe was driving me nuts through the whole episode. “Hey guys lets play!” “Caaaaaaaaaaaaake” Uhg.

What the hell is this shit? Lolicon stuff is illegal too?!

Man, 2009 is the worst year ever.

I find it bizarre that Sela has a nice rack too yet her outfit makes her look as flat as a board. Her masochistic tendacies make me hard for some sick, twisted reason. :looney:

She wants your babies.

who is sela

Girl from Basquash.

Off topic but can anyone hook it up with a non prem size avatar using this elisabeth sprite?

Im not picky so I dont really care what you do with it as long as her face is there :lovin:

Speaking of basquash I cant wait till a scan of the megami poster shows up. Next month better have a Haruka poster though:lovin:
kinda NSFW (yes I did the censoring just to be on the safe side)

Yeah, I got the same feeling and even though there was a touching lesson at the end, I felt annoyed for most of the episode.

At first, I was like “oh cool, azusa is surprisingly better at playing the guitar, but yui is her senpai so she downplays her abilities and awkwardness and hilarity can ensue” but it completely overshot the comedy gold that was there and went straight to “new character = azusa = moar moe/cute fanservice max out!” Oh well. I will admit the scene where yui is pulling the cake back and forth towards azusa made me laugh.

Looks like the vibe will be there next ep, maybe it’ll be toned down. seems like more beach laziness.

My tastes differ from many in the thread. But it could be worth watching if you like to see quality CGI. The action scenes are done well. But don’t expect anything magical from the story. Oshii’s movies tend to get overdramatic and plodding. In this instance, a comparison to Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence isn’t out of the question.

Regarding the animation, the CGI is truly superb and realistic, a very good job by Production IG. However the anime itself was lacking in detail and somewhat jerky. Also, I don’t know if it was a nod to the original Ghost in the Shell movie, or just some sort of laziness, but for some reason loli-Kusanagi and Batou’s dog are in this anime.

There’s much better stuff out there. I’d stay away unless you’re a fan of Oshii. For me, it’ll likely be the last Oshii film I watch.

so…is shangri-la not as good as everyone was expecting it to be? everyone was somewhat anticipating it from the description before the season started, what happened? no one is really talking about it. i was thinking of watching it.

Yeah, taht was pretty obnoxious, but it’s better obnoxious than the other eps were when it was all HEY MIO’S SCARED OF SHIT stuff happens HEY MIO’S SCARED OF SHIT AGAIN.

I saw 2 episodes and kind of forgot about it. It didn’t really seem as interesting or exciting as initially had imagined it to be.

Its just beyond me that noe one aside from Mio seems to want to play music lol. It would be like showing up to gameing party and not wanting to play games. I dunno. Also it did have a touching moment at the end but i thought the reasong was dumb. “these people are fun to play with”? I was expecting something “We’re friends and those are the best people to play with” or some shit. I dunno.

Agreed. Like I said it’s nice for her to be normal and level headed again. Now they need to bring back hard rocker Sawako. I like her cosplay fetish but it’s almost all she has now. With Asuza joining the band and clearly having a rocker/metal bent to play style it’s a perfect time for Sawako to impart some of her more hard core personality into the show again.

Man I forgot about the show after the first episode…

My thoughts on K-on~

If anything episode 8 proves that the ‘band mechanic’ is just a huge plot device that barely holds the plot together.

I was excited, I thought we’d get to see some chemistry as a fucking band, see Asuza play, get some new shit going, but instead all I got was this awful, awful vibe.

I mean really sit down and think about it for a second, if you had a new member come in wanting to join, and in a few days time you have her scared and confused to the point where she doesn’t even know why she joined to begin with, you should feel fucking awful. The poor girl was crying for god’s sake, what kind of club (outside of retarded shit like fraternities) are you to do that to a person?

The entire episode made me dislike everyone outside of Mio, which is horribly ironic because up to now it was usually the other way around; where I was sick of her being too much of a focus in one way or another. Sawako’s ‘cosplay fascination’ is still out of left field and horribly forced / lame / contrived / extremely overdone at this point (they gave NO indication to her even being into such a thing and suddenly she’s bringing outfits to picnics and carrying around cat ears, suuuuuuuuuuuuuure I’m going to buy that).

The contrast with Asuza and the group of slackers we call K-On just didn’t work for me at all. And once again we’re deprived of seeing people actually PLAY INSTRUMENTS in any damn fashion. For all I don’t know Ritsu could have shoved the drumsticks into either nostril and sneezed out her entire performance at the end of the episode. This further annoys me because Asuza is clearly a good guitarist but we get these lame rock legend overlays instead of seeing even just a few worthwhile frames of her playing the guitar. Oh, let’s remind her why she wants to join by SHOWING STILL FRAMES OF OUR COFFEE TABLE. Awesome.

That shit means ALOT. Everyone does their thing differently. Some people close their eyes when they play, some have them wide open, some stick their tongue out, some get down on one knee, some hop back and forth, some sway in place, it adds a huge amount of personality and characteristic to performance. We haven’t gotten ANY of that yet, and I don’t think we ever will. I mean is that alot to ask? I don’t think so, it could definitely add a new layer of humor to the show, but this show practically REFUSES to dive in deeper to what’s supposed to be the selling point to begin with. The music should compliment the rest of what goes on in the show, but instead this series treats it as a bonus or reward to sticking through 8 episodes of Mio being a moe skank.

Five more episodes of the same old same old I guess.

Well whatever.

:\

I guess that’s what i was trying to say but you did a far better job of it then I did.

MC is experienced, yo.

I already had problems with the show from the start. But, meh, I’ve learned to keep my expectations so low that I’m never really pissed anymore.

Haha, interesting you’re asking about this! I’ve been starting to work on a few XII avs with these sprites since yesterday. Expect yours to be done a bit later in the day. :bgrin:

Well damn, it may sound a bit harsh, but I agree with a lot of the points you mentioned there. I suppose that’s why I didn’t laugh too much or enjoy this episode compared to a couple of other episodes.

But yeah, like everyone else said about the music - , Kyoani. I mean, this is a LIGHT MUSIC club, after all.
