It can work, though I’d say you want to rely on TACs alot. Both storm and mags get quite a bit off a TAC to them and I don’t know if storm’s good TACs only work in the corner, but mags can go corner to corner into TAC anyway. Watch Tokido and FChamp’s corner to corner BNBs. A clean hit will give you at least 3 and a half bars off a hit, or at least 4 off a down TAC (probably 5 if you go to Phoenix next). Storm can somewhat keepaway, so she’s not entirely free on point, meter gain isn’t too great, she struggles to get a bar in one combo. Good things about your team, is if Phoenix dies, you’ll probably have a good amount of meter for storm. Storm assist isn’t the greatest to help mags get in, but it works I guess.
Also the team would work normally with you putting mags on maybe hyper grav and just playing like a normal team. Team super with storm off a bnb does heaps of damage and doing it with Storm on point allows you to launch and do it again straight after.
Well he’ll probably play the frank west team to try and get free up/down tacs off of you. I’d personally try and make a read and not initially go with side because levelled up frank hurts (though I don’t think he knows the kusoru anti DP tech).
Just try and play your own game though. I’d say if you land a clean hit with Zero just LL and kill Wolverine (or do your down tac glitch to ammy and kill if you can), cause frank shouldn’t be much of a problem for Zero and you’d get heaps of meter keeping him out. He’d eventually bring Wesker in and then you’d probably want to Xfactor and kill Wesker on a touch. If he’s got XXX/Level 1Frank West left, I’d say to burn x-factor on the other character (you should be able to kill with x-factor and no meter, or else kill with 1 meter and don’t x-factor) then fight Frank West.
You don’t have to rushdown with Zero, especially against Wolverine, try and keep him out and stay in the top corner if you can. Noel Brown will be better than you at landing a clean hit, so you want to use what Zero is really good at, which is charging buster and keeping them out. Land clean hits when you can, but don’t make it your entire goal.
My Ammy knowledge isn’t too great, so if Zero gets blown up I don’t have much advice for you, though she is a really strong character and a good l3 anchor if Phoenix gets snapped in.
Do every trick that you and Serris have put up. Confuse them and make’um scared to face you and Phoenix. And don’t try any fancy stuff please! Only if its a sure kill. Above all, Good luck.
it went alright. I didn’t do as good as I expected. It wasn’t due to nerves or anything it just my luck wasn’t good that day tourney wise lol. I posted the winners match that i lost in the video forum and in losers i had to play my training buddy. Made it to losers semis in my pool though. I had alot of fun though and the casuals was where alot of the fun was at too.
That’s a bummer. I hate when I know I didn’t play as good as I should have. Just keep at it is all you can do. I’ll watch your matches after I get home from work. Then gotta practice more. My team is really weak I haven’t played seriously since devastation.
Alright I need some advice. I’ve been running wesker phoenix since vanilla. My second character was x-23 mainly for an assist in a old mix up i don’t do anymore. When umvc came out i swapped her for strider. My reasons were there’s a really good wesker strider reset you can hit [media=youtube]B0ttPQadfuM[/media]
And if they kill phoenix i would use the bars for level 3 strider. Well I’ve had moderate success with that and now that vergil swords beat oroboros and dark phoenix I think I need to switch thing up. I like the strider reset, but I rarely hit it. Any ideas what I should do? I am willing to drop strider and maybe wesker even though I’m comfortable with him.
No reason to drop or alter your current team, you’ll simply need to have a back up team to counterpick with. I believe Cap and Spencer have favorable match ups with Vergil, but most of the cast simply doesn’t.
I feel like alot of teams can work actually. 2nd I feel like should be a good substitute meter builder and should either act as a meat shield/meter builder or substitute anchor just in case phoenix dies early.
what are everyone’s thoughts on Frank/Phoenix teams? Frank builds a crap load of meter at level 3 and above, and at level 1 he builds a good amount. He doesn’t and need to use meter when leveled up, could also serve as a spare anchor with level 4/5. Also, i am an advocate of using meter when necessary. Suggestions?
I don’t think Frank/Phoenix is viable unless you put Dante or Nova in front, and even then it’s extremely risky. Not to mention that duo has no good neutral game assists. (I’m assuming you won’t be calling TK Overdrive for obvious reasons, even though it’s actually a good assist.) If your point character dies, then you’re pretty much screwed.
been wanting to play phoenix for a while, just wondering if nemesis / doom/ phoenix was a reasonable team, or would nemesis be to free to other point characters?
keeping in mind this is going to be my backup team for when i play against characters with lots of armor.
I want to play Phoenix also…but I dont want to rely on Dark Phoenix. I would to run her either on point or second [ideally]. Morrigan is my main so she will likely be the anchor with Dark Harmonizer. What do you all suggest?
Obviously I could run Dr Doom/Morrigan/Jean but I really want to switch up the whole MorriDoom combo. Who can gain a lot of meter and is decent on point?
